Chapter 29: Reason for becoming a hunter.

"Mrs. Choko, she's delirious, she just woke up." Marlon said in fear, "We were telling the truth. We weren't trying to hurt her. This was all about a theater we saw. And there was a Choiko in the story. She must have thought it was your name since it sounds alike."

Maicon saw hope in his father's words: "My father is right. Please understand. We weren't really talking about your friend. Let's leave it as it is. It was all a big misunderstanding."

"Shameless." Nero hissed, "I no longer have the patience to play with you two."

They were surprised by the change in Nero's way of speaking. Even her expression became fiercer, savage and intimidating. Unconsciously, they began to tremble, fearing for their lives.

"What do you mean, Nero?" Jana asked. She was curious about what made Nero change her way of acting so quickly.

"Simple as a matter of fact." Nero mocked, "It doesn't matter what I say. This father-son duo, they're going to be making excuses after excuses. I don't want to stay here forever. So, I wanted to end this farce soon."

Though still confused. Choko and they nodded. A lot of things in that conversation doesn't make sense. Besides, why did they always take so long to answer... it wasn't because they were thinking about what to answer?

"I'll get right to the point." Nero asked coldly, "Who told you to do this?"

"..."

Marlon looked at Nero in amazement. But soon his expression returned to normal. Of course, that didn't go unnoticed by Nero.

"I see." Nero smiled coldly: "From your reaction, I already know that it was really someone who had this done. But I doubt you'll tell me who this person is..."

Marlon meant she's wrong. But I didn't have the guts to talk. He was afraid she'd go even deeper into it. The person who made him do all this was someone he couldn't and didn't have the courage to offend. Because of that, he chose to remain silent.

Choko and they weren't dumb either, they noticed the expression of surprise on Marlon's face. Apparently, it was all somebody's setup. But who? Nero was someone with no memories, she's not from this town either... so who did this?

Even though they're wondering, trying to guess who did it. They couldn't come up with a concrete answer. Actually, Nero thought it might be her sister...

But she soon ruled that out. Her current appearance was very different from before. It would be hard to recognize her. Besides, she's not even human anymore...

Nero seemed thoughtful when he said: "I wonder how long he would last suffering torture until he told me who ordered him to do it...".

Marlon's eyes widened. His body trembled at the thought of the possibility of being tortured. "This woman is crazy; she will torture me if I don't answer..."

When he thinks of the moment when Nero was stepping on his son as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Marlon didn't doubt that she could do the same to him, or even worse.

Choko, Jair, Breno, and Jana were also surprised by what Nero said. "Is she capable of doing something like that?"

Looking in the direction of Maicon... they couldn't help imagining that she was capable. Even if they don't know what change she had in her after she woke up from the coma... It wasn't hard to notice that something changed in Nero.

Choko hesitated to ask, "Nero... you, are you serious about wanting to torture him?"

Marlon looked at Choko with new eyes. He began to see her as a hope of not being tortured and forced to say something that would make him deeply regret it later.

Marlon was someone who was afraid of pain. He knew that if Nero tortured him, he would sing like a bird.

"I, I'm telling the truth!" Marlon abruptly said, "I didn't do anything at anyone's behest. That was all a misunderstanding. You have to believe me!"

"Seriously... I'm not in the mood to waste time with you. I have better things to do." Nero said, she then remembered something and asked, looking at Choko, "In fact, how long have I been unconscious?"

"A month." Choko said, "It's been a month since you passed out."

"A month..."

Nero murmured and became thoughtful. She closed her eyes... taking a deep breath, Nero couldn't help but think of her friend...

"I need to hurry to get strong quickly." Nero held her fists tight. Determination shone on her beautiful purple-violet solar eyes when she opened her eyes again.

Very fast. Nero arrived in front of Marlon. She put her hand on Marlon's head and started squeezing hard. She then asked, "Tell me at once. Whoever told you to do this, I'll let you know, don't test my patience..."

"I, I... I..." Marlon became a stutterer. He was in severe pain because of Nero's grip on his head.

Tears like waterfalls flowed from Marlon's eyes. He was a loose man who hated to feel pain. That's what Nero was doing. That was enough to make him fear for his life. He didn't doubt your words. In the end, he started talking.

"It was, it was Mrs. Laila, she asked me to do it." He said among his tears.

Choko and they were surprised by this revelation. They were ready to stop Nero, but I didn't expect Marlon to actually talk.

Choko was sad to know who did it... she was a friend of Laila's, but since that accident, she has been ignoring and blaming her.

"I seem to have underestimated how much my sister manipulated them." Choko thought.

Choko is anything but foolish. She knew all this was her big sister's setup. She has put up with all of this because she did not have the strength to fight back before.

Choko and Maia are not daughters of the same mother. Choko was born to a concubine of the patriarch of the Qin family. Even though she was polite to her stepmother, her stepmother, always did her utmost to isolate her. Even attempted murder did occur.

Choko had no proof it was because of her. But deep in her heart, she knew that only she kept anger in her direction. Even her sister, in time, came to hate her. Of course, she always tried to cover it up so Choko could let her guard down.

Even if Choko was on alert near them. She didn't always succeed. Just like the day your sister asked them to train together. In the end, she was guilty of almost killing her sister. But in reality, Maia purposely stood up and dodged her head to the side to look like she tried to hit her head and kill her.

But there's something they didn't know. That's what Choko knew about all their framings but pretended not to know. She acted weak in front of them, so she could take them on low guard. But she needed strength first. So she convinced her father to become a hunter.
