"What was that supposed to mean?"
"Hmmm? Oh..nothing."
"It doesn't seem like nothing.."
"Come on, it's no big deal, Not like you wont find out eventually."
To that all Xilo could do was shake his head as they continued to walk out of the library. After a couple more minutes they finally reached the exit where the cloaked woman was watching them as they left. Walking outside they were once again exposed to the vastness of the city they were currently in. When they were in the library with such little people it was something that was easy to forget especially for people who liked more quiet environments. Though there was nothing much they could do about it except toughen up once again.
"We really have to go into those streets again."
"Yep, how else are we supposed to get around if we don't."
"I guess you're right.
Well Xelfia wasn't the happiest about that she continued down the stairs and pathway side by side with Xilo. It was finally getting dark out in the city so they needed to find a place to stay. Unfortunately though neither of them knew their way around the city themselves. Xilo found the location of the library at the time with the book he had supposedly read "But does that mean he can find are other locations we need to go?" Looking over at a slightly flustered Xilo she got her answer clear as day.
A big fat no.
Xelfia was completely right. He had never even thought about such things before and after arriving at the exit of the library he'd finally gotten some time to think before it hit him like a Kaltae. "I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do, Shit." Maybe he could of asked the woman back in the library or he could of looked through a guide book before he left but at the time he was off in Astral Zone land and it completely slipped his mind.
"Dammit."
"Let me take a guess."
"What?"
Turning to look at Xelfia he was wondering what she was talking about until he heard her next words and boy did he wish he could hide himself because she ended up realizing before him and even saw through his panic.
"You don't know where we're going right?"
"U-hhh-ummm...ahhhhhhh.."
Letting out a long sigh Xilo admitted his defeat.
"I messed up."
Xelfia seeing as she was right was about to start teasing him once again but in the end quickly held herself back. When she looked at how despondent he was at the moment she knew it was best to not do such a thing and it probably wouldn't of helped him cheer up either. "It might make him only feel worse instead.." With that she tried a different approach to the situation.
"Don't beat yourself too much over it, It happens. If I remember correctly you forgot quite a few basic things back in the beginning of the Myriad Forest."
Unfortunately that only made things worse for him instead. Now he had to recall the fact that he had forgotten important things before that could of got him killed and how he needed to find an inn for them. Xelfia noticed his depressed face got even worse after she mentioned that and knew she had messed up with her attempt to cheer him up in the end.
"Well we can always ask the people up ahead right, So let's do that."
"I know that, but how many won't run away from us or even bother with us in the first place?"
"I'm sure there will be some."
Xilo knew he was over exaggerating a little bit but the thought of watching people run from him more annoyed him. But it was for the better in the end for the current situation he was in and his future self.
"Fine, let's hurry up then we don't want the inn's to get full."
"That's more like it."
With that Xelfia looped her arm around his and they went past the gate into the sea of people waiting for them on the other side. But just like he thought before what he expected happened. While they didn't outright run away when he was near them, the second he approached them without even being able to call out to them most would look his way then walk away or ignore him. Whether because of their fear of him or they just simply didn't care it was probably both but it still stung to see it all over again. From person to person, to street to street he passed countless shops and people went by him and he soon didn't even know where they exactly ended up. Staring up at the buildings around him though he did spot what looked like a market place in the distance surrounded by older looking houses that weren't the same as the ones before.
"Most likely were in the cheaper side of town."
"Probably, But it might be easier for people to talk to us now, maybe,."
"Or not."
After thirty or so more minutes of looking and attempting to get someone to stop and talk to him he was getting tired of all the failures. He could probably force someone to talk to him if he exerted his or Xelfia's strength but that was a final option idea that he wasn't too keen on doing unless necessary. Thankfully though he didn't have to resort to such things in the end because someone finally didn't run away upon seeing him "Though that doesn't mean she's not scared." That thought floated across his mind but he knew it was just self destructive thinking and let it be as he approached an elderly looking woman sitting on some steps staring at the crowd as they passed by.
"Hi there."
She heard him but she didn't turn her head or even look in his direction let alone give him a response.
"I know you can hear me."
Still nothing but he didn't let it bother him too much. People may not be talkers or they could just not like people bugging them but unlike the others she did do it blatantly and just sat there but just like others he had things he didn't like.
"could you point us in the direction of an inn?"
Finally when he brought up his point she reacted. Unfortunately it wasn't in any other form of communications besides her slightly raising her hand and pointing in a direction. While he wasn't sure how accurate it was he figured it was probably true. If not she could of just kept ignoring them instead of even bothering and with that they turned to walk in the way she had pointed.
Thankfully after a little more walking they turned a corner and saw the place they were looking for.
