"Though it still hasn't necessarily said anything about who or what the Nepl's exactly are." Thinking that he kept going down the page. There was only a couple more paragraphs of information left so he finally almost finished reading this secret section he had found. Though since he had no way of proving any of what was said or if it really had any use beyond surprising him he wouldn't count any of the information he was currently reading towards his and Xelfia's competition. "It'd just be pointless."
With all of the world finally beginning to band together everyone became a lot more bolder in their examinations of the Astral Zone that had appeared and began exploring deeper. With this eventually after multiple tries they were eventually able to learn why none of their previous search parties had never returned before. Simply put what they found inside was a massive forest with constant fog surrounding their vision that even high level Astral Keepers couldn't see past. Including the fact that they were constantly getting lost and running into obstacles they eventually figured out that a large portion of the Astral Zone they were exploring and probably all along its borders was a giant maze that blocked further entry. Combined with all the high level Beasts and even demons in the place it made for a devastating catastrophe for anyone trying to siege the place.
"But Beasts don't live there...?"
Parties and groups of people continued to tackle the maze head on for over a year without making any progress and with no signs of the supposed Nepl's appearing anywhere still the people were beginning to think they were wrong and more and more slowly began to give up and go back to their lives. With a year going by and no progress by anyone it was eventually decided all of the Royal Families top experts would go in at once and barrel through as far as possible and see what happened. After all their planning and supplies were gathered up besides leaving the rest of their members to continue their family lines each and every other one would venture onwards to deal with the unknown threat.
Maybe a little unfortunately or fortunately depending on the viewpoint of the person, another year had passed since each family had ventured into the Astral Zone with no one returning back. Not a single soul, message or anything of the sort. Though they faced no attacks as well either. So besides leaving the continent in massive shock it didn't do much else. Over a thousand top tier powerhouses went in and were all missing now. After a little more time eventually people settled down and they finally gave the Astral Zone a name to remember it by and hopefully never forget.
Nepl Island.
After that year's slowly went on until eventually over a 100 years had gone by for everyone. Nothing had changed over the time and there was still peace. The only difference was that one fateful day 10 people walked out of the place known as Nepl Island and the Fog that surrounded the maze had eventually cleared up. When the fog cleared up it caused mass panic amongst the ranks of people as the news travelled through the world. For some days for others hours after they arrived at the scene once again they only saw 10 battered old people who nearly looked half dead and a massive unblurred island behind them.
When any of the people there were questioned though each and every single one of them refused to say a word about what had happened to them until eventually each Royal Family member's head showed up. Though they still refused to tell the public what happened they finally confessed their story to each head of their respective families. Of course that was because they were also the previous heads of said families and the only lone survivors they knew of. Their goal from telling them besides that was to pass down the story of their experience and make sure to never let something similar happen ever again.
They each told the exact same story word for word "The Nepl's are finally eradicated. Today We forever change the meaning of Nepl and make sure no one ever has to deal with or experience the tragedy that occurred to them once again. Though We can't Forget what they did to us and all our friends and families in our hearts. So we will Name this Astral Zone Nepl as a sign of our fear, our heart's, and the mistakes that came and leave with it.
Eventually the name was forgotten by the masses and what they did but it still took thousands of years. But even then a select few in each royal family remembered and knew of what had occurred. But even those people and the families themselves also eventually forgot though. If asked anymore what Nepl had become, it was just simply a continent apart of Velkeran and there are probably only a few others left in the world that know this today.
"Hmm..that's the end but there's a note attached here at the end."
Looking down at the note he read that as well
"I write this tale in hopes that one day someone will find this and fix the wrongs that had happened in the past and so that no one ever truly forgets the threat known as nepl. Because one day they will return. Why they will return, you might ask? Because others have assumed they were spawned by the Astral Island itself but not many others know such a thing. I was apart of the generation that explored the Nepl Astral Zone for the final raid and unfortunately I was only a couple of the other survivors that didn't die when I was suppose to. But while trying to escape I found something that shocked me to the core. But unfortunately I was so tired and near death that day that I couldn't do what I maybe should have done that day."
"Do that day?"
"After we escaped the castle fleeing for our lives. Me and the other survivors with me struggled to find shelter to rest. I walked alone by myself in search of it like the others. But that was my mistake. After hours of searching I eventually came across a run down part of the castle that was abandoned. Upon seeing it I was ecstatic and rushed in only to find a single lone child in their all by himself with a note Beside him."
"Oh...boy."
"Besides feeling uneasy at the situation I was in all of a sudden I still couldn't very well leave the child behind at the time so I grabbed him and took him with me while picking up the note and ignoring it for later. Unfortunately with all the things happening at the time I never remembered to read the note. Eventually a couple days later I was able to escape alone though after being Unable to find my other companions and after that I simply disappeared from society's eyes. I was tired of the world and everything that happened made it hard for me to even want to live on at the time. I might have ended my life there if it wasn't for the child that was there with me. Simply not wanting to abandon the poor thing saved me and my heart at the end of the day though and after that I raised him for years on end the best I could until he disappeared from me one day."
Coming to the last paragraph Xilo slowly read the man's last words most likely.
"He disappeared 10 years ago unfortunately though probably to live the life he wanted to and I was in no condition at the time to be even be able to look for him if I wanted to and unfortunately as I inch closer and close to my passing I began to remember and reminisce all the things I once tried to forget. The Nepl's, my son that I eventually named Dusk and all the other things that eventually led up to this point and just like my former Clan had once said please don't forgot that the Nepl's can one day return."
With a little bit of sympathy Xilo finally finished reading.
