Two People Slowly Breaking

Thoughts were running through Xilo's head without stopping but two thoughts stayed prevalent the most "It's not true." The man could have just been making it up to throw him off his game but why would he need to do that while already winning or the very obvious reason of why would Tearia ever do such a thing to him and Xelfia. From his knowledge and from what he'd seen of her she wasn't a bad girl. "Though she's a bit childish at times." But that didn't mean he hated that side of her nor did it mean she would do that. "I hope..." Hell the fact that he was even doubting himself at this moment was making himself angry. But the second thought that cracked through the others was one singular voice. "Let her die." That same woman's voice echoed in his head once more and he struggled to ignore it.

Shrugging that off he listly watched as the knife slowly travelled towards him and Tearia and did the only thing he could of at the moment while their attacker watched on with anticipation.

*Tink*

Ripping the dagger out of his chest he threw it at the one in the air well trying to minimize the damage he still took. Even Tearia who thought for sure she wouldn't be protected this time was shocked. "Why?"

"You really are an idiot kid, Do you think I'm lying?"

"Yes, what reason do you have to tell the truth."

Laughing at Xilo's naivety the man couldn't help himself. The kid was a lot more naive than he had thought but it was starting to piss him off a little. Taking out another knife he wanted to see how far he was really willing to go.

"What reason do I have to tell the truth you ask? Not a bad excuse but you can't tell me you honestly think I couldn't beat you to a pulp without telling you this. To me this is just a game now that has some rewards."

Seeing Xilo refusing to listen to him he readied the dagger again. The kid didn't have another weapon again so he was curious to what he would do now.

*Whoosh*

"How many does he have, seriously!" Shouting in his mind, Xilo ignored his injured body's call to stop and moved, directing the blade towards his arm. Last time he didn't have the luxury to choose where to get hit but now he could focus the damage on his arm alone and still heal the rest of his body. With that another Knife lodged itself in his body as that same pain ran through his entire arm almost causing him to cry out again but he held it in.

"Tough kid."

Smirking another dagger was brought out.

"Let me tell you something. I gave your friend over there the poison for your partners weakening while Tearia caused your partner to sleep longer for whatever reason."

With that another knife travelled towards them even faster than the last one. Each time one was thrown they were getting faster and faster. It seemed like he couldn't knock them out of the air anymore nor could he dodge them. "At least he's targeting me and not Xelfia..." Meanwhile Tearia was frozen stiff scared out of her mind as she watched each dagger heading towards her waiting for the moment when Xilo would finally give up or collapse and stop protecting her. Her whole body screamed at her to run away and hide but she knew that was pointless. She had specifically hired the man in front of them because of his ability after all.

His ability allowed him to create a mini barrier that shut out the world around them and trapped them inside and the only downsides to it was it needed a lot of time to set up and energy beforehand while only covering a small space. The only way to escape was to knock him out or brute force their way out which was impossible for any of them but Xelfia. But she was weak now and couldn't do anything. Tearia hadn't thought she would be betrayed like this but now she could only accept that she was probably going to die here without achieving any of her goals. "Even if Xilo protects me from every dagger it's not like he'll win after all.." That thought lingered in her head as she watched Xilo's idiotic actions. If she was in his place she would have already let herself die and try and fight instead to escape. She just didn't understand why Xilo kept defending her but slowly she felt something cracking inside more and more. Ignoring that she watched on.

"Let her die." That same soft seductive voice kept whispering in his head but Xilo kept pushing it away as his anger was growing stronger and stronger. He was getting tired of this situation and being on the losing end but there was nothing he could do. "it's just an arm, It'll heal eventually." With that thought in mind he watched as the second dagger pierced his arm right next to the other but this time he couldn't hold his cry in as the pain engulfed him. With so much pain running through him, He felt his emotions slowly slipping out of his control.

"Do you think you're some kind of hero or something? You're just being an idiot kid. You and I both know the truth just look at the girl behind you. She hasn't said anything to declaim me but instead is cowering behind you trying to preserve her life. Hell the girl fucking came to me and asked me to crush every single bone in your body so she could keep you as her plaything while also torturing the beast"

By now he was getting angry himself at the way Xilo was acting. To him it was the peak of stupidity watching someone protect someone in the first place but to protect someone that tried to hurt you.it was even more stupid then the former.

*Pft*

Coughing a little Xilo heard his words but brushed them off as he tried to control his emotions to some extent. He felt like he was slowly going crazy and at this rate he felt like he'd have another episode. "Not now, Why now. I need to be able to calm down. CALM DOWN." Shouting at himself he tried to harder and harder but no matter what he did he was slowly losing himself and if he did this fight would be over without any hope. Thankfully he was able to at least barely keep on for now. Looking up at the face of their attacker who went from seemingly happy to angry he choked out a few words in between breaths.

"Is there anything wrong...With trying to live? Maybe you're right..Maybe you're wrong about her. It isn't your place to get between our issues."

Tearia watched on as she finally felt herself break and crouched down in a ball watching Xilo while trying to block out the world. Each dagger he took was stupid to her and pointless but each time she saw it happen she felt more and more pain. Especially when he defended her even after hearing about all the horrible things she had said and wanted. She just wanted this day to end now. Slowly and softly she began to cry.

Unheard by any of them Xilo barely spoke out as he took a deep breath. "Why are you lying to yourself? Or maybe running....." Hearing that voice again ring in his head again Xilo couldn't deny its claims. But before he could think of anything to say else he saw in the corner of his eye Xelfia finally moved a little bit and mouthed something to him But he didn't understand. He could only assume she had a plan in mind and trust her. In his state now he probably could only get one attack off. His emotions were in a mess and slowly felt himself slipping away while his energy was almost burned out. The time he had gained was practically taken away by protecting Tearia.

If Their attacker was only starting to get angry before then now he was pissed. He no longer cared about the money or the joy of fighting anymore. He just wanted to kill them all and leave. Tired of his own games and talking he ignored the rest of his daggers as he prepared himself to attack again. He was tired yes but he had also gained some time to catch his breath as well and now he only had one kid to worry about which wouldn't be a problem for him in his state. Especially when he saw Xilo also begin to run at him in an attempt to stop him from probably throwing more daggers. "Reckless." With that thought in mind he took out his sword again and waited for Xilo to get within striking distance.

Watching XIlo get closer and closer he focused completely on him knowing Xelfia was passed out and weakened he was completely confident in himself. That was until he felt a rush of Astral Energy spawn behind him and come barreling straight at him. Feeling that he quickly turned away from Xilo to see what happened. "Impossible." A giant Ball of pure water was rushing at him at an incredible speed but now it was too late to dodge it especially with Xilo charging him. "Shit when did that get there." Panicking at first he calmed down a little as he thought about it. It was bound to be a weaker then normal attack since the beast was already weakened so other than a petty distraction it wouldn't do much else especially when he felt how weak it was. Calming down he ignored it and turned to the important person at the moment. "Kid." With that the water splashed on his back and panic Quickly consumed him again.

Xilo ran as his emotions went crazy as he felt every last bit of his energy slowly leaving him. His arm was bleeding and in terrible shape while fire burned all inside him constantly but he kept pushing himself. Seeing Xelfia throw a ball of water at him he wondered what she was up to but kept running and then he saw it hit their attacker as realization slowly dawned on him.

*RUSTLE*

He watched as the ball splashed against him not doing any damage and almost thought it failed until he saw the hundreds of plants and roots pop out from inside it and tangle their attacker keeping him in place. "Yes." Seeing the opportunity XIlo pushed even harder as the man began to struggle in his binds. Watching himself get bound by plants he knew he had been tricked as he cursed himself for being over confident but it wasn't the worst case since he could still get out of this but he would take a lot of damage in return. "At least the kid doesn't have another weapon." Xilo still had the two daggers inside his arms but no other weapon anymore so he wasn't too worried. Roaring a fire to life he tried to quickly burn all the plants he could as he watched xilo approach in front of him and begin to punch. Sneering he watched that fist get closer and closer to his chest until he felt a sharp pain run through his body and out the other end. Surprised, he looked down and saw a dagger that he hadn't seen before sticking out of his chest..

Dread ran through him as he barely Looked up at Xilo's face and eyes but all he saw was insanity and pure joy in his eyes as Xilo widely smiled at him with an almost sadistic look that even sent shivers down his own spine. One word came to mind while looking at that face "Devil" But it was already too late as he blacked out.
