Just A Little More

Unable to land a hit on the rock beasts Xilo silently created some ice in his hand while he had the time. Each time after their attacks there were small intervals where they acted sluggish and slow which was the only time Xilo could use to concentrate. "If attacking these things doesn't work then let's try our friend in the corner." Since the Shadow refused to move or do anything Xilo might as well give it a try and see what happens. Shaping a spear he used before he dodged another set of attacks as he started once again. After a couple of times he eventually formed one while also realizing something strange.

Everytime he was attacked was always in a similar way then before and it was never different. At first he had just assumed it was nothing and disregarded it but after seeing it repeat so many times he felt it was weird especially when they still weren't using their Astral Element against him or anything similar. Along with their slowness they showed once in a while XIlo was confused. "Are they playing with me?" But looking at their faces he didn't see any mockery or joy instead he saw slight anger but nothing else so that theory didn't stick.

*Rumble*'

Feeling a familiar coldness in his hand though he forgot about it as he turned towards the Shadow in the corner and got ready. After the next set of attacks he would gain an opening and hopefully something would happen that would give him some information. Being in this kind of situation was almost suffocating in a way but he didn't have a choice at the moment. Jumping to the side the moment they landed he watched out for their wings this time as he aligned himself with the shadow and aimed at it.

*Crash*

A wing hit the ground near him hard but missed him just barely. Sighing, he threw the spear in the direction of the Shadow and waited to see what would happen. Watching it approach the Shadow he focused on that entirely so he wouldn't miss any small detail. Regretfully though Xilo was bound for disappointment as he watched one of the Rock Beasts get in his spear's trajectory and block it for the Shadow keeping it perfectly safe without having to do anything itself. Watching it bounce off the Rock Beast and do no damage though Xilo couldn't say he wasn't a little saddened to see that. His first attack to actually land being almost pointless was quite a blow.

At the very least though that didn't mean anything to him. "Strange." Even though Astral Beasts spawned in Astral Zones don't attack each other willingly it didn't mean they would go out their way to protect each other either. "Maybe they aren't from the Astral Zone but natural?" He couldn't really think of a better explanation at the moment but that further brought up the question of where the heck were they if it was true.

However seeing as how they also blocked an attack for it that meant at the very least they sensed some danger for the shadow which probably meant they would protect it every time as well. "So I really do have to deal with these things first." At least he was wasting time for Xelfia to come. With her here this shouldn't be as hard anymore but he would have to wait. Until then he could only try what he could and see what worked and what didn't.

*Whoosh*

Lost in his thoughts Xilo almost missed one of their wings flying right at him. Unable to dodge it he could only take the hit. Bracing himself he blocked that giant rock wing as it slammed into him and pushed him backwards a little. Seeing that wing slowly unfold and move in front of him though he didn't back off but launched an attack of his own. This would probably be one of his few chances where it was slow where he could actually land a physical attack and see what happens. Looking at the gleam of their skin he punched as hard as he could.

*Crack*

Colliding with the wing he felt intense recoil at the strength of it's defenses but at the same time a small cracking sound floated to his ears after a couple seconds. Watching where he had hit Xilo saw a small crack form in the wing as the Rock Beast shouted out in pain and backed away from him. Even though the crack was small though Xilo was filled with excitement. After watching his ice spear do nothing he had assumed his attacks wouldn't do anything but surprisingly he could actually inflict damage after all even if it was almost minute. "How can I land another attack though?" He had gotten lucky this time but now they might be even more careful then before and probably wouldn't allow him to do so again and taking another hit to trade blows wasn't exactly what he called a great idea either. But he could keep it as a last resort however Xelfia should have already finished escaping at that point.

*Rumble*

Hearing the rumbling getting more quiet as time went on Xilo knew his stalling was coming to an end though and then he could fight with Xelfia which would make this fight hundreds of times easier then it was now. All he needed to do was wait a little bit longer and he would be fine thankfully. "So it worked but what else is down here?" Getting a little ahead of himself he thought of what was to come as another Rock Beast attacked him again.

"Whoops."

Almost instinctively backing up Xilo stopped himself and instead chose to block instead and try the same thing again. He was afraid they wouldn't do the same thing twice but maybe they weren't as smart as he thought they were though he was also taking damage himself for free when he said he wouldn't. "Who's really the dumb one here?" After blocking he waited for the same dull movement as before as he attacked once again and like before another small crack appeared again.
