Chapter Seventeen

Igor had to buck up and stop himself from crying because he didn't want Maisie to see him that way. He wiped his tears from his eyes.

"Mistress, I will take my leave for lunch."

He went and had lunch in the servants quarter 'break room', and or small cafeteria, alone away from anyone else.

Igor's love-hate relationship towards his masters continued as he was frustrated with Maisie and his lack of control over his and her life. He was not able to help her as she didn't seem to need his help. He was not able to successfully evaluate the situation before, embarrassing himself in front of his elder, Edmund, his young master, Dash, and Maisie.

He guessed that what he felt was that his pride was a little wounded and trust a little broken when Maisie hadn't told him all the details. He realized that there had been that possibility to raise suspicion from her brother about their possible relationship together, but the real facts where they couldn't be a couple, not really, not while the Lennox family was alive, anyways.

He decided he was going to have to suck it up and deal with his issues regarding Maisie. He was inclined to act more formal towards her again, especially at home.

He spent the rest of his day polishing the cutlery, folding and ironing the laundry, vacuuming and sweeping every room that Maisie usually walked; although she had kept herself locked in her room; potentially because she was trying to avoid Igor.

The Lennox family dinner had scarce attendees. The only people who sat at the giant table were Harry Lennox and Leo Lennox. They stared at each other blankly the entire time. They didn't even attempt to make small talk. The whole ordeal was awkward for the servants because it wasn't that common for everyone to be missing from dinner, but due to the drama within the family, no one seemed to be interested in knowing what everyone else was up to.

The two men left, walking out the exact opposite direction from one another due to their obvious disdain. Harry could not get over his wife's infidelity and mistake from the past and Leo could not get over the fact that Harry wasn't his father, but even if he wasn't, he should still treat him better.

Igor didn't know what any of his masters were thinking but he did know the fragile balance that held the Lennox family together before seemed to be crumbling. The servants were all talking about it afterwards.

Maisie did not call to Igor for anything the rest of the night, not even dinner. Igor wondered how she got through her day, but he supposed it was possible she had some snacks hidden in the locked drawer in her bedroom.

He went to his bed, his only solstice, feeling depressed. His bed had a hole for his wings in it for him to be comfortable, but also a place to support his neck and back. His only friend in the world left him to be alone. He pouted under his covers.

"Hello."

He heard someone talking quietly; one of the female servants approached him, which was odd because they were in the male only servant quarters.

"Hi-hi Igor." She had a shy smile. She had short brownish blond hair and long bangs. Her eyes seemed to match her hair color and her skin was as pale as his, and like him and every other Alucard she had a bump in her uniform. She was a sight for sore eyes, and Igor hadn't seen an Alucard as beautiful as her before.

"Why are you in the males quarters and what brings you here, who are you?" He got up out of his bed, wearing his servant issued pajamas which consisted of blue stripped bottoms and a long sleeve shirt. He towered over her.

"I'm one of the other servants here in the house.. I'm surprised you never noticed me. I usually do all the seamstress work." Her timidness was apparent. She twiddled her thumbs, which were riddled with cuts and fiddled with her shoe, starring at the hardwood floor. Igor didn't know who did the mending of the master's clothing because Maisie was always buying new ones and having him donate the old ones to the homeless woman's shelter.

" Mmyy-my name is Nala." She was cute as a button.

"Well what are you here for?" He said perplexed, worried another servant would catch them in his part of the large room together. The other servants were either tending to their specific masters or wrapping up for the night. Igor was not needed by Maisie so he just reported this to Edmund and went to his bed.

"I was told to come in here to get anything that needed mended before the next day start and that you may be in here because your master didn't seem to need you."

"Oh." Edmund must of told her, So it was probably okay she was in here.

Igor found that one of his uniforms needed mended because of the White Angels Rally.

It had a little bit of red staining. He wasn't sure he could give that to her.

"Wha-What's on this ?" She looked at it wide eyed.

"Just some blood." Igor stared at her.

"Who's?"

"It Might be mine or the other guy's?" He said holding his head. He regretted pulling out the uniform from his closet. She gasped.

"You couldn't of made something up like you had a bloody nose or something?"

"You know it's unheard of for us Alucards to show a bloody nose? What's wrong with telling the truth sometimes?" Igor said, wondering if it mattered, she was just a servant too. Who cares, why can't he just throw caution to the wind? Who makes friends with a meticulous outlook anyways?

She just stared.

"Well he was a friend I had made sitting in a kidnappers van and before I knew it I was here with blood on my uniform and a migraine. I could only imagine what had happened."

"What? Who kidnapped you and why didn't you send this uniform back to me sooner?"

"Well Mrs Lennox knew about it soon after, but I think after I was dropped back off here I put my pajamas on and went to bed."

"But who kidnapped you?" She stared further and further into his face and tripped into him. They both fell onto his bed in a weird position. She looked up at him, her smaller chest on his. She was soft and smelled nice.

"The white angels group, the one Maisie had been a part of." He breathed in more. He couldn't help staring at her.

"Oh wow I hadn't heard about that before now."

"You smell nice." Nala blushed. Her rosy cheeks contrasting with her white skin.

"Thanks, we spray perfume on a lot of our completed works but usually only for the masters. Servants aren't to get a rare scent like vanilla. It is a very endangered species of plant. But fortunately it tends to still get on me so I smell nice! Not your average maid!" She said enthusiastic, trying to get up from the awkward position on top of this really tall man. She sat up on him, being in an even weirded position.

"Oof. Please get off me." She was on his lower half and he didn't want to be aroused.

"Oh I'm sorry! I didn't think about... That." She jumped off, took his uniform and started to run away.

"Well thank you Nala for mending my clothes. I'll see you around!" Igor said after he was able to get upright, she was almost out of view, past the other end of the males' quarters, beelining it down the hallway to the sewing room, almost bumping into another male servant.

He hadn't been able to become friends with other servants before this because of his mental block about having to be perfect at all times. He couldn't afford to have friends. He needed to be at Maisie's beck and call, he had been diligent for her but, if she was going to be like she had been then he needed some more allies in the Lennox mansion and despite his lack of attraction towards other Alucards, he should back off and be with his own kind.

He had some hope for once with the interaction he was able to have with Nala, and he was going to be able to see her again when she brought back his uniform. He was looking forward to that. There really didn't tend to be any gaps to socialize either besides their lunch break. A thirty minute period of much cherished socialization that Igor never took part in before but was inspired to this time. He thought about inviting her to servant lunch after she gave him his uniform back. He suspected it may take longer than average to wash, bleach and med because of the blood stains and tears.
