Alex slumped in her chair and checked her watch for the millionth time. Where could she be? Bailey was never late.
Sipping her tea, she watched out the window, waiting to see her hurrying down the street. For some reason, she didn't feel worried about her like she normally would have. She assumed she was simply running late for the first time in... well, ever.
Well, now she was worried.
Seconds later, she relaxed seeing Bailey walking down the street. Then she frowned. Why were her eyes red? Why wasn't she hurrying?
"Hey, Bai." She studied her friend with concern as Bailey sat across from her. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing..." She propped her elbow on the table and rested her head in her hand.
"I'm not an idiot, Bailey. Which guy is it this time?"
Bailey sighed heavily, tears springing to her eyes again. "His name is Jolon. I went to this... convention. Of sorts. And I met him. He's so cute, Al, you have no idea. We flirted and we went out and everything was going great then - then he cheated on me!"
"He did what?!" Alex was suddenly angry. It was one thing for Bailey to get rejected yet again, but for a guy to break her heart like this after leading her on... there was no way he was going to get away with that.
"I know! I didn't even do anything wrong. I was a perfect girlfriend and he - he just..." She laid her head down on the table and cried.
"Um." Alex looked around uncomfortably. "Look Bai, I know this is hard but - um - can you calm down? Everyone's looking at us."
"My heart is broken!" she sobbed.
Alex reached over and patted her head awkwardly. "Just... try and be sad a little quieter."
Bailey continued her sobbing and Alex gave up trying to quiet her. Now how could she humiliate this "Jolon" guy... "Don't worry, Bailey. I'm going to make this guy regret hurting you."
"O-okay... great..." She sniffed and wiped her eyes.
Alex got all the information she needed and made sure Bailey got home safely then got to work tracking down the douchebag.
