Meanwhile, in the Magic Council, there was an emergency meeting currently ongoing. All the highly ranked councilmen were seated at a circular table with grim expressions. The participants consisted of Gran Doma, Siegrain, Ultear, Michelle, Yajima, Belno, Leiji, etc.
"Are you sure it's 'R-System', Siegrain? You should know the consequences of providing misinformation." Gran Doma asked Jellal seriously. The others also narrowed their eyes while looking at Siegrain.
"Yes, I'm absolutely sure. I know my twin brother better than anyone. He's almost completed the tower to activate the 'R-System', and do you want to know what he'll use it for? " Siegrain asked with a grim expression making everyone tense. They had a bad feeling about the answer.
R-System was a notorious system designed by Zeref himself to resurrect the deceased. Originally, there were 7 towers, but the Magic Council put an end to their construction, though they never found the 8th tower off the coast of the Fiore. Now that they got information that the last remaining tower is almost completed, they started to feel restless.
"Tell us already. Don't waste any more of our time, Jellal. What's your brother's goal?" Gran Doma asked him with an authoritative tone. He didn't want Siegrain to keep them on edge anymore.
"My brother's goal is to resurrect the legendary dark mage, Zeref!" Siegrain answered with a grim voice making everyone terrified. They knew the infamy and terror of the legendary dark wizard.
"W-What!? Are you really sure that's his goal?" Gran Doma asked for confirmation. He didn't think this meeting would turn so disastrous. If the other's goal is to revive the legendary dark wizard, then they'd have to take harsh measures to prevent it.
"Absolutely. My brother has been possessed by Zeref's spirit, and now he's planning to use the 'R-System' to awaken the legendary dark wizard. That's why I'm requesting permission to fire Satellite Square: Etherion Blast on the island while we still have time. You can imagine the consequences of failure, the world would face a catastrophe with Zeref's arrival." Jellal stated his reasons for requesting permission to fire 'Etherion Blast'. 'Etherion Blast' was a cross-dimensional destruction Magic that was capable of destroying nations.
"T-That's… If that's the case then it changes everything, but firing the 'Etherion Blast' without any concrete evidence is too much. Do you understand the consequences if you're wrong?" Gran Doma glared at him.
Seigrain faced his glare without backing down and stated. "I know it's a hasty decision but that's what we need right now. We don't have time to gather sufficient proof. I'm fully prepared to take responsibility for the failure."
Gran Doma sighed and said with a powerful voice. "Then, let's vote for it. Unless more than five councilmen agree to your proposal, the 'Etherion Blast' won't be fired."
After a few minutes, more than five people raised their hands. It included Jellal and Ultear obviously. The others who agreed to his proposal were Mischelle, Belno, and Leiji after some discussion.
"Then it's decided! Let's begin the preparation for the Satellite Square: Etherion Blast. My deep condolences to the unfortunate people who'll be affected by this but we absolutely cannot let the resurrection of Zeref succeed." Gran Doma declared with a thunderous voice. Soon, the frogmen started the charging of the spell.
Yajima, on the other hand, was keeping tabs on Siegrain and Ultear. When Gran Doma agreed to his proposal, Siegrain and Ultear smirked and left the area. Yajima was instantly alerted when he saw that and followed the duo.
When they reached a relatively quiet place, Yajima approached the duo and confronted them.
"Is Etherion Blast truly the only to stop this?" Yajima asked Siegrain with narrowed eyebrows.
"Yes, Yajima-san. We absolutely cannot let the resurrection of Zeref succeed. I'm willing to do anything to stop it even if it means resorting to such drastic measures." Siegrain replied calmly. Ultear just stood beside him like a faithful subordinate.
"Even if that means sacrificing the lives of so many people stranded on the island? Can you live with the guilt of killing your own brother, Siegrain?" Yajima shouted angrily. He didn't like the proposal at all. Sacrificing so many lives for stopping the resurrection of Zeref didn't satisfy him at all.
Siegrain looked at the angry Yajima and calmly answered. "Yes, I'll shoulder the guilt of killing my brother and all those unfortunate people stranded on the island my entire life. I absolutely cannot let Zeref resurrect."
"What about you Ultear?" Yajima asked Ultear. He didn't understand why Ultear always followed Siegrain like a faithful servant.
"I'm of the same opinion as Siegrain-sama. Zeref is an abomination that should never exist." Ultear replied calmly making Yajima sigh. Now, he understood there was no stopping these two.
"I hope you remember what you just said. If this fails, then you'll have to bear the responsibility. Don't regret it later." Yajima warned them before leaving. He didn't want to hear another ridiculous excuse from the two. He knew they were keeping some secrets but he didn't have any evidence to back up his claim.
"Don't worry Yajima-san. I'll never regret this." Siegrain smirked and left with Ultear. He had to make sure that the preparations for the 'Etherion Blast' weren't interrupted.
'Finally, I can fulfil my wish. I'll help Zeref-sama descend to this world and begin a new era for mankind.' Siegrain thought with a twisted smile. Ultear, on the side, could only look at him in pity.
"So, what will do you after, Ultear? You should know that the moment 'Etherion Blast' fires, we'll be labelled as traitors. You will no longer have to accompany me after today." Seigrain asked his subordinate. He was suspicious of her before but now he no longer held any suspicion. Ultear performed all her tasks perfectly.
"I'll just travel the world. Traitor or not, it doesn't matter to me, but before leaving I won't forget to give them a little gift." Ultear replied with a scary smile in the end. Seigrain knew what that meant and could only smile.
"I wish you good luck with your travels then," Siegrain said before leaving her alone. Ultear watched his retreating figure with remorseful expression.
"And, I wish you good luck as well. I hope you survive your confrontation with my dear Natsu." Ultear mumbled, leaving the area. She needed to make some preparations for her departure. She wanted to leave the council with a bang.
