The Good News

I and my husband spent the next day at the hotel. I don't know why I feel so lazy these days. He asked me to go out for lunch but I just wanted to stay on bed and do nothing. He also sleeps a lot these days. I guess we are already getting old.

We went home later that afternoon. We went directly to our room and watched a movie. This is the best weekend I had so far with my husband. I'm not into shopping and I am not outgoing. Staying at home is basically my weekend routine and it doesn't have to change now that I'm married. I just need to do it with my husband this time which makes staying at home more enjoyable.

Monday came by and we had to go back to our work. Even though I didn't want to get up, I didn't have a choice.

"Are you okay? You look pale." Geoff said looking worried.

"I'm okay. Maybe I will get a flu but don't worry. I'm strong and I can take care of myself." I answered.

"Why did you marry me if I can't take care of you?" Geoff looks worried. "Do you want to visit a doctor? I will ask Michael to tell Mr. Smith that we have a meeting."

"I will do that after work. You need to be in the office. Don't worry about me. I will ask Nancy to accompany me later."

"When will you ask me to accompany you?"

"Okay then, let's go together to the clinic if you are free." I said smiling. I feel so lucky to have a husband like him.

We left the mansion without any holdups. I guess this is the effect when Geoff is around.

I was so sleepy the whole morning in the office. I even forgot about the meeting I had with my team.

"You look sick. Are you sure you can work? You can go home if you don't feel good." Annie said while we were having lunch.

"I think I have to do that. I can't concentrate the whole morning." I said.

"But you know, you look strange. You're the only sick person I know who can eat a lot. You were able to eat two cups of rice and two orders of meat."

She is right. I didn't notice that I already ate a lot.

"If I don't know you that you are single, I would think you are pregnant. Wait, are you really single?" Annie asked. I never told her about me and Geoff yet. What if I'm really pregnant?

"Is there anythinf you are not telling me?" She asked. I know I should have told her about me and Geoff long time ago.

"Sorry. I wanted to tell you about us a long time ago but I never had a chance since we were both so busy. He is already my husband."

"What?!!!" Annie shouted. The angry reaction I was expecting didn't happen. She couldn't stop giggling. The looks of excitement and happiness can be obviously seen on her face. "Did you see the doctor lately? Now I'm sure youcare pregnant. You are carrying the next heir of Limited Group."

"Do you think I'm pregnant? I never thought about it. I can't also remember when I had my last period. I was really busy for the past days that I forgot about a lot of things." I explained.

"When do you plan to visit a clinic? Do you need company?" She asked.

"Geoff will accompany me after work. Don't worry."

"Do you think you can still work with that condition? You look very tired and sick. If I were you, I would just go home and take a rest. I'm sure Mr. Smith will understand. You rarely get absent from work anyway."

She is right. I feel so sleepy now and with my condition, I'm sure I won't be able to accomplish anything. "I will call Geoff then so he can pick me up. Maybe we can go to a clinic earlier than planned."

"You will let me know right away if you're pregnant, right? I won't forgive you this time if you hide something from me again, especially this one." Annie warned.

"Yes, I will." I promised Annie.

I felt disappointed after giving Geoff a call. He said he has a meeting and can't leave the office at the moment so she will be picked up by the driver and Nancy. He made her promised to wait for him to go to the clinic. The driver and Nancy arrived 30 minutes later.

"Let's go the nearest obgyne clinic." I instructed the driver.

"Are you okay, madam? Is there anything wrong?" Nancy asked.

"I'm fine. I just feel under the weather these days." I said.

"You look pale. Maybe you are pregnant."

"You're the second person to tell me that. That's the reason why I need to go to an obgyne clinic. I need to be sure."

"Won't you be waiting for sir Geoff? I'm sure he's also excited to find out."

"He is busy, Nancy. I don't want to disturb him." Actually, I feel disappointed at him. I also want to be his priority sometimes. I feel like I compete with his work for his time.

We arrived in the clinic 30 minutes later and since we didn't have an appointment, I and Nancy had to wait for more than an hour before meeting the doctor. After some tests, the doctor confirmed that I am indeed 6 weeks pregnant. He prescribed some vitamins for me to take and scheduled me for my next visit.

I feel happy and scared at the same time. Happy because I and Geoff will finally start a family of our own. Scared because I am not sure whether I am ready for the responsibilities of becoming a mother. I don't want my child to experience the things I had as a child. I don't want him or her to grow up without a father. I don't want him or her to be bullied by kids.I want him or her to have a totally different life from what I have experienced.

Having these thoughts in mind makes me scared more and more. I arrived in the house after 4pm. Until now, I didn't receive any call from Geoff which means he is still busy. I want to tell him about the news immediately after I left the hospital but was hesitant because I might disturb him and scared also that despite giving him a good news, he won't come to me rushing.

As I reach the main entrance, I saw Regina and Erica in the sofa in the living room. They look very serious. I tried my best to avoid them by pretending not to see them but I wasn't successful.

"You're here!" Erica shouted. "It's you, right? You're the one who asked Geoff to cancel her deal with my father's business! Do you know what you have done? My father is now in the hospital. He had a heart attack!"

Regina was stopping her from hurting me. She tried her best to get near me. Luckily, Regina is strong enough to stop her.

I didn't say any word. I just looked at the two women. I know Geoff is responsible for this but I can't put the whole blame on him. If Erica was nice to me and Geoff, maybe this wouldn't happen. Nancy held me in my arms and guided me to go upstairs. I felt weaker but thanks to her, I could go to my room safely.

"Come back here you evil mistress! I'm not yet done with you! Stop pretending you don't know anything." I could still hear Erica's voice until the bedroom door was closed. Nancy locked the door, just in case Erica would come up here.

"Can you stay in the room with me while I sleep? I am scared Erica would come inside while I'm sleeping." I asked Nancy.

"Of course madam. I will protect you especially now that you are pregnant. I won't let anyone lay a finger on you." She said smiling. I feel like I found a new friend in her.

I tried to call Geoff before sleeping. I'm craving for pasta and I want to ask him to buy it for me before he comes home.

"Hello, honey. I'm sorry I'm quite busy right now and I might come home late tonight. You can go to the clinic with Nancy. I will call Michael to arrange a doctor's appointment with you, okay?"

"It's not necessary. I already visited a clinic." I answered.

"What is the findings? Are you okay?" He asked.

"I'm pregnant." I said with a sadness in my voice. I'm happy that I'm pregnant but as early as now, I already feel sorry for my child because his or her father doesn't have time for us.
