Chapter 7

Chapter 7

"One day, while the male wolf stroll in the forest to hunt food, he noticed something behind the bush. He walked towards the bush to see what's hiding there. He was so shocked when he saw what is in the bush. It was a fox! And it seems like it's in pain. The fox may have noticed his presence and slowly, the fox turned to face him. 'She's beautiful...' he thought. He was only pulled out of his reverie when the beautiful fox talked. 'Who are you?' She asked. He can't find the right words to say. 'What do you want from me?' She asked once more and tried to stand. But her legs seems hurt cause she lost her balance. Due to natural instincts, the male alpha use his body to support her. 'Let me help you.' The male wolf said, and carried the fox on his back."

I removed my glasses and massaged my forehead. Few hours after my encounter with Nimrod and I'm here reading the book I found in the bookstore. I'm almost at its middle but I see nothing unordinary in it. I bet it would like something shit like fairytales where the main character will fight her destiny and live happily ever after.

"Damn, I'm losing my interest..." I said stretched my arms. I was about to put the book at my shelf when I heard a knock from my door.

"Can I come in?" It was mother.

"Sure, mother." He entered my room, I saw him carrying a silver tray containing some of the left over cake from earlier.

"I saw you holding a book when you came back earlier. So I thought that you'll be reading that, so I brought you some snacks." He said and put the tray on my study table. "You have your glasses, so you're really reading something." it's my habit to wear glasses whenever I'm reading.

"Yeah, I am earlier but I stopped already." I explained and took the platter with cake to eat it.

"Stop? Why? I know when you read a book you won't put it down unless you're done reading it. " he said as he sat on my bed.

"I lost my interest. There's nothing special with that book. My teacher recommended it so I thought it has the tang I want in a story. But it turned out as plain ass shit story." I said. "My bad for the word."

"But you haven't finish reading. You'll never know the outcome of a book without reading the whole story. There's always a plot twist in every story, Kyle. Don't conclude anything about it yet." mother said and get up from my bed. "Anyways, it's your choice if you would finish it. I'm going now. Good night, son." He said and kissed my cheeks.

"Good night, mother. " he smiled before closing the door.

Maybe because of mother's words, I continued reading the story. It took me few hours before finishing it.

"Mother was right..." this book isn't that simple.

The next day, my father took me to academy. He forbid me to use my car. He said I'll only use it when I'm already in college. I'm fine with that. I have nowhere to go with that car too. Maybe, I'll use it if I want to stroll around.

'If John was only here, I'm sure we'll roam around this city with my car everyday.' I sighed. He didn't even bother greeting me for my birthday.

I was in front of the teacher's lounge when I saw Mr. Augustus.

"Mr. Augustus!" He turned around and spoke when he saw me.

"Oh, Kyle. What's up?"

"I finished reading your book." I saw his smile widened. "And I don't think I can do what the main character stated."

He chuckled. "I figured. Your the 5th person who said that."

"I tried my best, but I can't put myself into her shoe." I said. "Your story was... a puzzle that's hard to decipher."

"Hmm..." he paused. "It was the same case for me. I tried to write a lot of alternate endings I could think of but it just couldn't fit to the story. So I just leave it like that."

How can that be possible? An author who can't finish his own story?

He looked at his wristwatch. "Oh, I need to go, Kyle. I still have my class. I'll talk to you some other time."

"How about the book sir?" He looked at me. I can't explain, but his eyes seem so full of words which I can't understand.

"Let it be. Someone will finish that for sure." He said then left me.

'My classmates were right. Mr. Augustus is a weirdo.'

I sighed. I decided to go to my classroom. While walking I heard someone called my name.

"Kyle!" I looked for that person and I saw Amanda, the student council's president.

"Oh, president. Why did you call me?"

"Kyle, good thing I finally found you. We have meeting later after class at the club's room. I hope you could attend. We badly need to talk about this matter." She said while still catching her breathe.

"Matter? What do you mean?"

"Huh? Didn't you know? Our academy is having our annual foundation week celebration next month." She said.

"Oh, shit! I forgot! Sorry, sorry. My mind's pretty occupied these past few days." I apologized.

"No, no! It's fine!" She said. "By the way belated happy birthday! Sorry if I haven't had any gifts for you."

"It's fine. Thanks for the greetings, though. " I said. "It's almost time for our first class. I'll go ahead, Amanda. "

"Sure, sure!"

I spent few hours attending and listening the discussions. When the dismissal bell rang, I fixed my bag.

"Hey, Kyle." Leo called me, he's also part of the student council. "Are you going to the club's room?"

"Yeah. I'm just fixing my things. "

"Good! Can I go there with you?" I nodded.

While we're walking to the club's room, Leo spoke.

"You're an omega, right?" He asked.

I nodded. "Yeah, a recessive one. Why did you asked?"

"Hmm... nothing." He went silent. "You're 18 now, right? Have you met your fated mate?" I stopped walking. I can't tell him I already did. Subconsciously, I touched my bite mark.

"N-not yet. I haven't met my fated mate. Besides, I jut turned 18 yesterday." lies, I know.

"Hahaha, yeah. Right."

"How about you? You're a recessive alpha, right? You've turned 18 years old two months ago, have you met your fated mate?" I asked.

Strange, the atmosphere around suddenly changed. "Yeah, I already did..." A sorrowful smile dawn on his lips. "I already saw her."

"And..?"

"And... she's with her son and husband that time." His voice cracked.

"I-I'm sorry to hear that. " I said sincerely.

He shook his head at me and wiggled his hands on the air. "No, no! No need to apologize. It's not your fault. I'm the one who started this topic anyway." He said. "And besides it's not like I believe in that 'fated mate' thing."

I frowned. "You don't? Why?"

He heave a heavy sigh. "Because for me, that 'fated mate' thing wasn't good at all. That thing forbids people to choose freely." He said and then looked at me. "Because being a fated mate with someone doesn't mean your heart beats for them because you love them. It beats for them because you are fated mate. See? We people are imprisoned with that thing. Accepting our fated mate is our only choice because there's no other option at first place."

I don't know why, but his words made my heart skipped a beat.

I stared at him because of what he said. "No offense meant, but Leo, are you saying this because of your mate?"

He shook his head. "Nope. Well, that day when I saw her with her family, I was kinda relieved. Her eyes depicts happiness even if she's not with her fated mate." He said. "I want that kind of happiness too. Happiness which is not controlled. A free love and happiness. " he said.

"I-I don't know what to say..." he laughed after hearing it.

"I expected that from you. Hahaha! Well, people calls me weird because of my perception about fated mate." He said. "Do you find me weird too?" I shook my head.

"No... your awesome..." I said with amusement. "And this is the first time someone talked to me about that. Especially, alphas like you."

"Really? Wow, that was the first time to hear that. 'Cause most of the time you're with John." He said. "Don't hesitate to talk to me, Kyle. I maybe an alpha but I do respect omegas like you." I smiled for what he said.

"Well, I knew John since we were kids, that's why I feel comfortable with him and thank you in behalf of other omegas." I said. "By the way, Leo, you remind me of someone. You're both have different perceptions about things." he frowned.

"Eh? Who?"

"Mr. Augustus." He stared at me and burst into laughter.

"HAHAHAHA! WTF! REALLY?!" I nodded. "HAHAHA! That's ridiculous." He said still laughing.

This was time first time I've talked to someone this long and deep. Usually, it was either John or Felix who share their thoughts like this to me.

After Leo recovered from laughing we headed to the club's room. He seems okay for an alpha who got rejected by his fated mate.

His words made me wonder. What if he's right? That our feelings were just manipulated by fate.

'But my feelings feel so right for my alpha. If we're really manipulated by fated, I'm willing to be manipulated so I could be with my alpha.'

When we reached the club's room, all of the members were there except the two of us we apologized to Amanda. A minute after we started discussing our plans about our foundation week.

The student council decide to have 80's fashion as our main theme. All of us will wear costumes that shows 80's vibes. We're also planning to have competition among all sections. They will have their own classes services. Fore example, Cafe, parlor, restaurant, etc. The section who had the biggest earnings would win a gift from us, free pass in an eat-all-you-can restaurant. After that, the students will be gathering at the ground for the bonfire.

Everything's fine except for one.

"Amanda, I can't be the emcee for that night!" I explained. The other student council members left already. Now, I'm talking to Amanda to clarify some shits.

"And why is that?" She asked.

"I just can't. Besides you should be the emcee since you're the president."

"Kyle, I can't. I have stage fright. I might mess everything up if I'm the one to talk." She said. "Please Kyle if you do this, you don't have to help us with other things. Just this one, please?" She said with teared eyes.

'Damn this girl.'

I sighed in defeat and nodded. "Waaaah! Thank you Kyle! You're my savior!" She shouted in glee.

"But after my part, I'll leave right away. That's my deal." She nodded and salute.

"Hai! Hai! Okay-desu!"

I sighed. I have no issue in speaking in front of other people but the thing is, the day after the final day of our foundation week is the start of my heat. I want to be at our house before my pheromones be on its peak and before my heat started. I can't risk it especially now that I had bite mark.

'I hope things will be okay for me that day...' I thought.
