Chapter 13
After Amanda and I talked at the cafe, we went out to the mall and went to a park near the mall. We're just there, sitting at the swing.
Her sudden confession took me in suprise. I never thought that behind her silly face and childish attitude, she'd been carrying this problem. Fate's really unpredictable. Hope she overcome her situation.
Few minutes passed. No one's speaking not until Amanda broke the silence.
"Your mate..." she said which made me looked at her. "He's a dominant alpha right?"
I nodded. "Yes."
"You got yourself a big catch, huh?" She chuckled. "That night, when I told you to leave, Leo looked for you. I can't tell him that you went on heat. I can't risk of other alphas to smell your pheromones, even Leo. So after I had my supressants, I followed you. I was worried that someone might find you and there, I saw you and your mate."
My eyes widened. "So... you saw having sex---" she poked my head.
"Silly, the moment I saw you making out, I made my way out." She laughed which made me blushed. "You're wild. Pftttt!" She said while suppressing her laughter.
"Come on! I'm heat that day!" I defended myself. "If I'm not on heat that day, I won't do it... probably."
She laughed even more. "No need to be shy! That's natural!" She said as she tapped my shoulder. I rolled my eyes at her. "But something's bothering me."
"What?"
She went silent for a minute. "Ahmm... nothing. I forgot it! Hahahaha!"
"Silly." I cleared my throat and asked. "Have you... seen his face?"
She shook her head. "Nope, kinda dark. " she answered. "But I heard your moans so I thought---!"
"Stop it! Not funny!" I said. She laughed again.
'Am I that loud mouth?' I asked myself.
"But seriously, you should introduce him to us." She said while looking at me. "We're friends, right? Me and Leo, I mean."
I stred back. "Leo? yes. You? No way." I said and chuckled. She slapped my back. "That hurts!"
"Of course, it is! Aho! Baka!" She said and even pouted. I smiled because of that.
'Looks like she's back with her normal self.'
I sighed. "I'll introduce him maybe in the future." I answered. "But not now..." I whispered. I don't know if she did heard me.
We went in silent again. It's getting dark. The people around gets fewer than earlier. There's no more kids playing around. The breeze was refreshing. The sky looks aesthetic with few clouds and its fading light in dark. The birds were visible yet too high to distinguish. Few stars were slowly making their appearance. I never felt peaceful atmosphere like this before. I never thought that I'll experienced this together with Dumb-manda.
"Kyle-kun..." she said while we'reboth staring at the sky. "Thank you..."
"What for?"
"For accompanying me... for being at my side."
"Isn't that what friends are for?" I knew she's now looking at me but I kept my eyes on the sky. "No need to thank a friend for accompanying you. It's my choice to be here beside you."
I felt her moved a little. "Yeah... friends..."
Amanda and I went home when there's no more light at the sky. We bid our goodbyes when we reached the bus stop.
"See you tomorrow, Kyle-kun!" I nodded at her. She waved her hands, so I did.
We went in different buses. While I'm sitting inside the bus, I can't help but drown into my reverie. I thought I'm the only one who's having hard time with my mate but it looks like Leo and Amanda were suffering in their mates too.
'Birds with the same feather, flocks together, huh.'
Mother and father were already at the house when I arrived. Father works for our company, mother was assisting him.
"I'm home." I greeted.
"Welcome, back." Mother greeted back. "How's school?"
It's a good thing that we already talked about our issues few days ago. Now, we're back with our normal interactions.
"Fine." I said then kissed his cheek. "I'll go upstairs."
"Sure but make it fast. The diner's almost done. " I nodded.
I changed my clothes when I arrived at my room then went downstairs. At the kitchen, mother was cooking the food while father preparing the plates and utensils. I didn't bother to enter the kitchen, I just watched them from behind. Momemt later, mother called father and made him taste the food.
They both looked in love and happy. A sincere and unlimited love. I smiled for the thought.
'I wished to have that happiness too...'
Many days passed like a blink of an eye. We're now entering the second semester of this school year. This year is the most crucial year for us. We had a lot of requirements to pass, things to accomplish and we have to apply for college. Becoming
College student isn't that easy.
"Ahhh! I'm tireeeeed!" I heard Amanda yelled while stretching her arms.
"Same." I agreed while writing the research papers.
"Me too." Leo said while fixing the research questionnaire.
We're now at the student council's club room. Leo and I were research groupmates. There three more members in our group but Leo and I were assigned at making ang polishing the research questionnaire that we needed to pass for validation. After that, we're free to conduct the interviews and collect datas.
In our academy, graduating students were obliged to do a research for them to passed. That's what Leo, Amanda and I doing.
"Kyle, there's some error at this page." Leo stated.
"Really?" I took the papers from him. "Hmm... you're right. Wait, I'll fix this." I said then took my laptop to edit the errors at our paper.
"Aww, I hope I have Kyle-kun as my groupmate too." Amanda commented. She's also doing some papers. She put a pen in between her nose and puckered lips. "I'm jealous."
"I don't want you as my groupmate." I said bluntly which made Leo laughed. I heard Amanda's sneered.
"Hmmmp! Bully!" She said. "Baka, Kyle-kun!"
"I told you, Amanda. Kyle's pretty strict regarding with our research." Leo stated. "Our other group members feared to be scolded by him, so they finished they're assigned works as soon as possible. Even slightest mistake matters with Kyle." He added.
"Kyle's a terror? I can imagine." Both Amanda and Leo laughed.
I frowned and took some crumpled paper at threw those to them. That made them laugh even more.
"What can I do? I hate incompetent people." I said with certainty.
"That's prejudging, Kyle." Leo stated. "Making few mistakes doesn't made you incompetent. No one's perfect. So you are." He added.
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever."
"Baka Kyle-kun, can't accept defeat! Ho! Ho!" She said while rubbing shoulder with mine. "You can't beat Leo's words. He's a top tier elite philosopher. Hahahaha!"
"Shut up." I said then I pulled some strands of her hair. She squealed and pulled my hair too. "Ouch!"
Amanda's right, though. Whenever Leo speaks, everything make sense. He's the only one who can counter my words. Leo was completely the alternate personality of mine.
"Stop it you two." Leo said. He even hit our head with pen. It's not hard hit, though.
"Bleeeh!" Amanda annoyingly said then stucked out her tounge. I rolled my eyes at her.
"Amanda." Leo warned her.
"Gomen." Amanda said. I lowly chuckled.
"You too, Kyle." I nodded.
"Okay, fineeee." I said then went back at my works.
We continued our work. Silent consumed us not until Leo spoke.
"Kyle, don't you think we'll have hard time collecting data?" Leo said.
"What do you mean?"
"Look." He showed me a piece of paper. "Our topic is about the impact of secondary gender in their work fields, right?"
"Yeah, so?" I asked. He tooked the list of our respondents.
"Don't you think we're having a little problem with the dominant alphas that we need to interview?" He said. "Because, we only have four dominant alphas to interview. While the other gender types had more than five to interview. The volume of respondents might be question here."
"Hmmm..." I took the paper and looked at it one more time. "But dominant alphas pretty rare, I think our research adviser would understand that. " It's true, we're just lucky since the dominant alpha respondents we had was our relatives.
"But I think we should at least look for another one. So we could have the total of 20 recessive omegas, 10 dominant omegas, 45 betas, 20 recessive alphas and 5 dominant alphas. A hundred respondents in total."
I sighed. "But looking for dominant alpha is like looking for needle in mountain of leaves." I said. Leo went in silent. "We're lucky to have the first four dominant alpha. My father, your uncles and my father's friend. But another one? This is hard." I added. To bad, it's too late to change our topic.
"Wait." Amanda snatched our attention. "I think you guys can have another dominant alpha." She said.
I frowned. "Who?" Leo and I both said in unison.
"Come on, Kyle. You know him." Amanda stared at me intently.
'Who?' I mouthed at her. She widened her eyes and moved her eyebrows up and down like telling me something. That's when realization hit me.
"Fuck! That's right!" I said then went to Amanda and hugged her tight. "Fuckshit, Amanda you're genius!"
"I know right, duh?" I said then flipped her hair.
"Ahh... guys? What are you talking about?" Leo asked awkwardly.
I tapped his shoulder. "Oh, brother. I got everything under control." I said with full certainty.
"You mean the other dominant alpha?" He asked.
"Yup!" I said then Amanda and I did high five. Leo just stared at us with 'WTF' look in his face.
Everything's seem fine. The only thing is it'll took one more week before I got to meet the other dominant alpha.
'I really got big catch like Amanda said.' I chuckled at my thought. 'See you soon, my alpha.'
