Tummy Rumbles

POV

Nym:

I opened the door to my house. With a light creak it opened revealing the interior. I threw my keys in the bowl on the small white table near the door. Soren looked about the room; his eyes were filled with unrestrained excitement. My lips raised into a small smile at his amazed expression.

I reached down to untie my tactical boots. My fingers nimbly undid the knot.He noticed that I had stopped walking, and looked down at me cutely. He watched as I took my shoes of. Something seemed to click in his young mind, so he began to try to unlace his black converse. After struggling for a few moments he finally undid the knot. I reached down and patted his soft hair.I then sat both pairs of shoes under the table on a small metal rack, and placed deodorising balls into each of the shoes. I then started walking into the kitchen.

The cold black tiles felt soothing under both of my feet. Soren followed me to the kitchen. The main theme of the house was monochromatic and modern, so nothing was too bright. I made my way to the sink and grabbed a soap bottle of of the counter. I then pumped some charcoal and mint soap into his small porcelain hands. He bent down to sniff it.

"Don't eat it! It's soap and it tastes bad." I said hurriedly. He looked up at me confused.

"Come here Soren." I turned the water on. Then I picked him up slightly so that he could reach the faucet. He reached his hands out into the water and was shocked at the foamy white bubbles that started to form.

"Rub your hands together." I told him sternly. 'How can anyone be this ducking cute? It's too adorable!' I thought to myself.

I set him back down on the ground gently, and wrapped a black towel around his hands. He started to dry off his hands when a large rumble sounded. "Grrrghhh grhhgrrrr" his hands went down to his stomach and he looked at me embarrassed. His face was as flushed as a cherry.

"Sooo I'm going to guess from that sound that you're hungry." I tried to retain my laughter. Even though I tried not to laugh, a few soft chuckles escaped my lips. He looked at me angrily. "Alright, Alright.... I'll stop laughing." However, I still laughed a few more times. His cheeks puffed up like a chipmunk.

"Would you like to help me with dinner?" I asked him. He shook his head enthusiastically. I washed my hands in the sink and then dried them using the towel. I reached over to pull my apron off of a gunpowder grey steel peg. The apron was black in color, but had small white flowers near the top. Unfortunately, I the only apron that I had was Scarlet's. My heart felt like it was squeezed by an icy talon.

I winced and looked back at Soren. My breath became stuck in my throat trying to break through. He looked at me and I'm not sure what he saw in my eyes, but he reached out and gave me a hug. He squeezed his thin arms tightly around my waist.

"Soren, how about you watch this time. How does that sound?" He looked up at me and solemnly shook his head in agreement.

"I promise that we will cook together next time." He reaches his pinky finger up at me. I wrapped my pinky around his. "I promise, and I don't break my promises." He then turned and sat at the bar. He rested his small face clumsily on his hands. His eyes followed my body movements like a cat clock. I turned around and soft tears began to coat my cheeks. I brought my hands up to my eyes and wiped away the salty tears. I breathed in deeply to calm myself.

I ran my fingers through my knotted hair and pulled it up into a high ponytail. I quickly placed my apron on my body. I wrapped the the fabric cords around my back pulling softly and then tying them around my navel in a little white bow. I washed my hands again before I went to grab the ingredients from the fridge.
