The Terrified Alpha Wolf Retreats
This thought terrified the boss wolf, Cain. As far as he knows throughout his canine life that aside from wolves of the Valley of Ono, there are beings that know the language like the Red Dragon King in the east and the Black Prince of Valareth, the Elven conclave in the North. But these beings are high up in the food chain. It was said that the Elven Black Prince came to pass by their wolf community, but his party was out hunting. Thus, missing his opportunity of meeting with such a bigwig. While he never met the prince, it was a known rumor among the canine community that the Black Prince was a friend of the Great Ancestor of Beasts. This is why he can speak the wolf language.
If this goblin can speak Onorian wolf language, it is highly possible that this might be another bigshot in the forest. He needed to report this guy to the elders, and they might know who this guy is. Cain dreaded of going against this demi-human as he feels something will definitely go wrong if they offended him. He even abandoned his thoughts of killing this green ugly creature.
Moreover, if this slime is indeed his pet, it will be disastrous for them. The slime bears a name. A monster with a name is considered a unique monster at this point. It is no longer a regular slime as unique monsters can have multiple monster skills and can even use magic.
As the leader of this hunting pact these terrified feelings were felt by the other wolves except for the orphaned one. He was so consumed on how to extract revenge on his siblings that he did not heed the terrified feeling from the rest of the pact.
As for the brother wolf felt the uneasiness but shrugged it off as he went to his brother's unconscious body. He had more ties to his brother than the rest of the hunting pact, after all they share the same blood. At this point he was more of an observer than part of the group.
Now Cain's priority is to escape this goblin, maybe they will pick on the slime if ever it had become alone but for now, he should prioritize not to provoke this green menace. Luckily, the hunting party have not made a move yet or so he thought.
"Now, who took the other rabivore carcass?" Ryuji gave an ugly smile. These party took their kill and spoiled it already. They also bullied his pet who had been with him for several days. How could they bully his cute genius pet? He was weighing the options to let these wolves run unscathed or massacre them. He still thinks human like his previous life. However, without his skill, he would not have known earlier that they were planning to kill him from the beginning when he called out to Pyun-Pyun. Undecided on what to do, whether to leave them alive or kill them altogether, he decided to have a checkpoint decision. If these predators will return the rabivore meat to them he will let them live but anything unfavorable to him and Pyun-Pyun, he should kill them without mercy like the snakes last time.
Cain was speechless. He glanced to the carcass that they pulled aside. Even though he is a wolf and has fur, he could feel the buckets of sweat trickling down. 'No this should not be happening.' He thought. He should not be offending this creature and should make their escape soon. As an alpha wolf this is an embarrassing situation, he should be asserting his dominance. But what ifs filled his mind. He has a hunch that this goblin has an unusual ability to speak languages is a mystery and he does not want to risk offending someone powerful. This is the main reason that he hated hunting speaking creatures who can understand them. The negotiation and conversation layer complicate the hunting pack's ability to hunt and kill.
"We must be mistaken to take your kill great one…" the right-hand wolf wittily denied the accusation. He was helping their boss for them to stay alive. He would rather give a bootlick to this unknown individual which seemed very dangerous at the moment. He glanced at the boss wolf who seemed to be giving him an affirming look. But before he can add the wolf who had his siblings died suddenly roared in hatred.
"Why should we listen to that lowly goblin! I will have my revenge today!" The wolf quickly jumped to the slime.
"Stop him!!!" Cain commanded in panic. He was sure that the goblin has ties with the slime. It had taken down two wolves earlier and he could not afford to lose additional wolves right now. Agitating the goblin will complicate the process of getting the pack out alive. He had considered the possibility that they can somehow pacify the goblin. He had also thought of leaving the troublesome brothers with the goblin. This stupid fellow just had to give in to his rage avenging his kin. He was cursing inwardly.
"Pyun-pyun kill it." The goblin calmly commanded. But deep inside Ryuji was not sure of what will happen next. He knows that Pyun-Pyun already killed two wolves earlier before he arrived but like a parent, he was worried about his pet being attacked by a wild rabid creature. Adding to his worries is that these creatures have intellect. Animals with wild instincts are already dangerous and adding intellect to the equation makes it more disastrous at this point. However, he needs to stay calm in front of the boss wolf. He should not show any weakness. If he faltered right now the tables might turn for the worse and they may execute whatever plan that they had earlier which is killing him and Pyun-Pyun.

Hearing what the goblin has said, the other three wolves stared the lunging wolf in horror. The two other members attempted to intercept the raging wolf as he lunged closer to the slime, but they were too late. As if the speed of the attacking wolf was too late. Sensing this the slime put out his tentacles preparing to attack as offender draws close to the meat that he was defending. Pyun-Pyun knows that this creature is up to no good and consolidating his master's orders by defending the meat and killing the creature at the same time, he stood on the same spot. The wolf saw the tentacles retaliating towards him, but he evaded the two tentacles.
"Your attacks wont wo-" The wolf was about to sneer at the slime, but his words were cut off. The wolf who was standing suddenly vomited blood. There was a liquid-like structure that pierced his belly from where he stood. Everyone was surprised at the outcome. The wolves were having a hard time earlier killing a mere slime which caused two wolves to lose their lives now a third one is added to the casualty.
Cain shuddered at the sight of the third wolf falling into the slime's skills. The two wolves earlier died because of the tentacles and like he feared this slime is already at the unique monster ranks. Seeing that one slime can kill three fully grown wolves alone he did not hesitate to shout "Retreat!!!". The remaining wolves heard the command which cut out their dazed expression. They whimpered and quickly gathered their wits and ran for their lives going in the direction of the boss wolf. Only four of them remained alive, three were dead and two were outcast.
Ryuji saw the wolves quickly scrammed seeing Pyun-Pyun's new skill. He was about to stop the wolves from running but seeing how they were frantic and clumsily making their escape, he laughed. He then gazed at the slime at the center of the meat like a shopkeeper. His worries again were just unfounded which gave him a sense of relief. His slime was a genius! He quickly went down from the thick branch and approached his slime pet. "You made me very worried!" He scowled but one can hear a doting tone.
Pyun-Pyun jiggled and flashed a light pink as if it were embarrassed. Then they glanced at the two wolves at the side. The elder brother wolf stared back cautiously. Ryuji's stomach grumbled for the fourth time and he rather not delay any further. The goblin-slime pair did not mind the wolf brothers but instead focused on preparing their lunch is already too late at the moment. Ryuji went to pick the firewood he left near the bushes.
