Wei Ying
"Wei Ying..." Lan Zhan whisper to him, a bit worried about the way he was getting more nervous by the minute. Both Suibian and Ying were pacing from right to left, while mumbling, to a point his boyfriend didn't even notice he had call for him. Resigned, he walked toward his lover and put a hand over his shoulder.
"Wei Ying, calm down... I will be here with you." Wangji told him and his lover finally look back at him and smiled, kissing him slightly.
"Ah, thank you Lan Zhan, but father will not..." There was a knock on the door, one that he knew best and make him froze in place.
"It's him..." Wei whisper and Lan Zhan walked to the door quite calmly to greet his father in law. He open the sliding door and bowed gracefully to the man standing alone in front of their door.
Wei Lao was a man with a strong aura, there was no doubt about it in Wangji's mind. He was the kind of man you show respect to, the kind of man that look wise, yet mischievous at the same time. A man that had lived both good and hard times. Wangji saw in those clever eyes, the reflection of Wei Ying's and gracefully bowed to the man, showing him his deepest respect.
"Clan Leader Wei Lao, welcome to our Lan Clan." Wangji said with a deep clear voice and Wei Lao arched an eyebrow to the welcoming bow and deep respect. This one must be Lan Wangji, the Second Lan Master, which excelled at everything, the role model of his Clan and second Jade.
Looking at Lan Wangji, Clan Leader Lao was tempted to smile. He certainly had an air of elegance, of refinement and gracefulness any woman would envy, yet he rick at manly power. He looked stoic, yet there was fire in those young eyes as well as respect. In that way he was like his brother, all politeness, but this younger one held more spark within, more life and perhaps even desire.
He bowed back with equally respect to the well raised young man, unlike his son, who was half frozen beside Suibian, who was already shivering. He smiled wickedly to Wei Ying behind the Second Young Master of the Lan Clan.
"I thank you, Lan Wangji, for saving my son's life." He said, as he came inside the room and deeply look to his son, who finally dare to come closer to greet him.
"Father..." He bowed politely and Subian did the same by his son.
"Pardon my rudeness, Second Lan Master, but can you leave us alone for a moment? I need to have a talk with my son." Lao said politely and Wangji had no other choice but to agree, but before Lan Zhan could walk out, Wei Ying held his arm for dear life.
"Ah, father... he is my partner, there are no secrets between us. Can he stay?" Wuxian asked and Lao looked at the young dignify man he was holding for dear life. He sighed, the poor young Master should have it hard with his son, but to his surprise, Lan Wangji didn't seem to mind it. Mmm, how odd... let see where that will lead him.
"I see, you want to get embarrass in front of him, so be it." Lao said and signal him with his hand to move closer.
"Oh, well, let me ask you first. Did you broke any kind of Lan rule while in here?" His father asked and Wei Ying swallowed hard.
"Yes." He said, expecting his father to get mad right away, but he only sighed.
"Well, it did broke a few myself when I was here too. Did you brought wine and drink it inside the islands?" Wei Lao asked, curious of how many rules he broke.
"No." Wei said honestly and his father laughed.
"I thought that was going to be your first rule breaking. That one I could let it slip, however, Wei Wuxian, what about messing things up?" He asked now quite seriously, already knowing the answer.
"I... did mess with a thing or two, but father is not like you think." Wei explained.
"Oh? So, you didn't fought a centuries old white dragon, sealed in a cave for longer than our linage?" Wei paled.
"Ah, that... it was an accident. We were trying to help the villagers to..."
"Were you asked by Lan Xichen to go check what was happening in town?"
"No. We heard the rumors of..."
"You went on your own, without asking to the leaders of this land and put in dangers at the rest of your team." Lao said and Wangji was instantly in front of Ying.
"Pardon my intrusion, Lord Wei, but we all agree to go and my brother was already going to send a few Clan members to investigate." Wangji intervened, still not looking at the man in the eyes, in sign of respect of an elder. The showed respect pleased him, if only his son could be a little more like him...
"I see... alright, what about going hunting without permission? Certainly Lan Qiren had make the point that when you were attacked, you had no permission to be out of the islands." Ying cursed under his breath, damn old man, maybe he shouldn't had make the man mad at him, but he just couldn't hold it.
"When the emergency bells sounds, all Clan members must go out to eliminate the threat, no exception for me or the rest of team." Wangi said for him, gracefully kneeling and bowing to his father.
"Wei Ying was in my care. It was I who failed to protect him and he almost got killed. I apologize." Wangji said wholeheartedly, making Lao wonder even more just what kind of relationship those two had. Could it be like she suggested... Nah, it couldn't be.
"Hum, kid... why are you defending my son to this point?" Lao asked quite curiously. He was quite passionate, even trying to take the blame he knew it wasn't his, like a lover. Ah, he was definitely imagining things, Lao thought.
"Because I love your son more than my life." And then the young man said such thing, so freely and honestly. The room went silent instantly, as the words of the kid resounded inside Wei Lao's brain.
"W.. what?" He asked again, sure he had hear him wrong. Wei Ying kneeled by Wangji, a little scare of how his father will react to the sudden bomb thrown at him without warning. He should had known that Lan Zhan will not hesitate for a second, he did it with his brother after all, but his father was different from Xichen.
"Father, please let me explain, I love him too and..."
"Be quiet Wuxian, let me hear him said it again." Lao repeated, but Wangji was not scared nor ashamed of his feelings for Wei Lao's son. So he stay still, on his knees while he prepare himself to say it again, even clearly than before.
"I love him more than my life." Wangji said once more and Lao was genuinely shocked. Seriously, this kid was something else.
A pristine member of the Lan Clan making a seriously deep confession of love for his troublesome son, when both of them were men. How come that could happen in such a short amount of time? He was dumbfounded, but then there could be another answer aside than the kid had lose his mind from so many rules to follow. So, narrowing his eyes, he looked at his son. There was no other explanation, it must be his fault.
"You brat! What kind of spell did you used on the Second Lan Master?" His father accused, pointing a finger at him and Wei Ying moved his head to one side in disbelief. Of all things his father could think about, how in hell he thought he had make Lan Zhan fall for him?
"Huh? I didn't..." He said.
"Of course you did! How else could you had make this fine man fall for you more than his life? Didn't you said you love him too, it must be your doing. Spill it out!" Come on dad, seriously? Ying thought.
"I swear, I didn't!" He insisted.
"Wei Ying! This is serious, you can't just mess up with the Lan Clan Leader's brother like that! I will undo whatever you dare put on him right away. Just say it!"
"Father, I seriously did nothing!" Ying stood and so did Lan Zhan a bit lost of to what to do next. He honestly wasn't expecting that kind of denial.
"Lord Wei, is not that." He try to defend Wei Ying, but Lao apparently was a stubborn man. He turned from them to the sword spirit at one side.
"Alright then, Suibian, you tell me now!" Lao asked him, making him jump by surprise of how thing make his way when he was trying to get as invisible as possible.
"Grandmaster Lao, he is telling the true this time." Suibian said honestly, already sweating. Wei Ying arched an eyebrow and look at his spirit after hearing that. The nerve! You little ungrateful...
"What do you mean this time? I had always tell father the true!" Well, most of time that is... still he rather kill his sword spirit that let his father believe he was a liar.
"Well not always exactly..." Said Suibian nervously, he feared Lao more than he feared Ying's wrath. Xuanyu was already amused, laughing his heart out hearing the unexpected nonsense.
"I knew it, you wicked son. I will make sure to prepare a very stinky stable for you to clean this time!" Wei's father said, almost making Ying puke by the thought alone, because he really meant it.
"Suibian, you back stabbing traitor. I will definitely throw you in the first pile of horse droppings I can find!"
"Wait, Wei Ying!"
"Don't wait me, you deserved it. Come here!"
"Wei Ying, please Grandmaster Lao is here!"
"He can punish me after I'm done with you!"
"Oh, so you admit you did something to this young man?" Wei Lao insisted.
"Seriously, I didn't. Why would I want to enchant a man? He is a level nine cultivator, there is no spell that can take over a man of his strength. You can even use the dispelling talisman on him if you still have doubts and he will still feel the same right after the effect take place." Wei said confronting his father.
The older man was tempted to use one, but that young man was not just a lower member of the Clan, he was the Second Master of the Lan's, so he will had to trust in what he saw from the younger man.
"Lan Wangji, did my son use any kind of spell or talisman on you?" He asked.
"No." He simply said, but Wei Lao itched for a more detailed answer.
"Then, how come you put your eyes in a troublemaker you just met a very short time ago?" He asked, obviously expecting a longer answer.
"It was fated to happen. I was told about it by the seer before I saw him ride over an eagle toward our island." Oh hell, so he really did fall for his troublemaker. Well, it wasn't exactly what he had in mind for Wuxian's future but at least he had choose well... however... An eagle? Damn, brat, did he wanted to show off that much? He will deal with that one thing first, then he will have to find out more about the involvement of the seer in that particular matter.
"Wei Ying... eagles?" His father let it out between gritting teeth's.
"Ah that... We were late..."
"As if I would buy that one. One stinky stable for you and Suibian when back home and a two nights in the most boring watching tower in our Clan."
"Wait, dad! Come on not that one again..." Wei Ying protested, as 'boring stuff' was the ultimate punishment in Ying's book. However, Wangji was kind of amused, if the punishments in his Clan were as simple as those, everyone will break the rules one hundred times a day.
"You shut up, or I will change it for a month of energy storing in as much talismans as I can make." He then turned to Lan Wangji.
"I don't really know what you saw in him, but if you are set on it, I don't mind you as my son in law. But you will probably had to come to the east with us, because your uncle will have a stroke if Wei Ying's stay here for longer than necessary." Wangji smirked.
"I know." He said, bowing again.
"Ah, there is no need to be formal. We are family now..." Lao said, slightly tapping Wangji's shoulder and Wei Ying smiled with relief.
"Thank you father... you save me from eloping." He joked.
"As if would let you do that. Your mother will kill me ten times if she finds out I let you run away." He said and Wei Ying expression somber after that.
"Father, about mother..." Wei Ying begins.
"I know about her. She didn't left me that night, we agree on it, for your sake." His father confessed.
"Just what happen back then?" He whisper.
"We were visit by the elder, she told us a lot of things that were meant to happen, while revealing herself as Baoshan, which was none other than your mother's childhood teacher and the seer that have been wandering around since the beginning of time. Your life was going to be in danger a few year later, so at the end, your mother make the decision to go looking for the group that will threaten your safety and it had proven to be the right choice, otherwise, I would not have you standing here... my son." Wei Lao said as he took Wei Ying in his arms in a bear hug that make both Suibian and Lan Zhan smile.
"I'm sorry to keep it from you, but it was necessary..." Lao whisper.
"I will bring her back to us, I promise." Wei whisper back, as tears run down his cheeks.
"We both will. You are our pride and joy and I'm sure she will be thrilled with her son in law. She said that Lan Wangji was like a knight in shining armor. Fierce and protective, like a lover... how right she was." Lao said smiling slightly.
"Do you know where she is now?" Wei asked as he separated from him.
"No, but she will contact me again soon enough. Until then, let's help her out. Now... let's talk about your findings. Lord Xichen told me you had work hard trying to find out this group goal. Show me all you found and we will make our stand." Lao said and just like that, father and son immersed themselves in Ying's findings as the airs of warring blow closer.
