Sword tower event, placing and rewards intertwined

"Serena, return to your room first. I'll explain everything to you later. For now, I would like to speak to this young man about some matters."

Serena nodded her head and replied, "I understand, but how are you going to account for the death of my brothers?"

The family head of the Lim family, Brimstone Lim paused for a moment before breaking out into laughter.

"Are you going to trust the false evidence that states that your brothers are dead? Don't worry, they have already received my orders and are on their way back to the family."

Only after heaving a sigh of relief did Serena make up her mind to leave. "I hope that you aren't lying to me again this time."

Watching his daughter leave, Brimstone couldn't help but give a bitter smile to Ace who didn't understand what Brimstone meant by that.

At least, not now when he's still young and striving to fulfill his ambitions and seek the answers that were waiting to be discovered.

"Ace, you may be young and even talented. But never allow your arrogance to outweigh your confidence or it'll just bring about sire consequences." Brimstone cautioned after inviting Ace to the guest room he arranged for him.

"Thank you for the advice senior, but I know what I'm doing. May I know what's the reason you invited me here today. If it was just to give me the commission your daughter promised me, I don't see a need for you to surround this area with an array."

Ace said confidently as he took a seat on one of the chairs while observing the three spatial rings that were already on the table before he even arrived.

"Hahahaha! To think that you were able to tell that I've setted up an array here." Brimstone laughed as though it was nothing, but deep down, he was already amazed by Ace. To think that a youth was able to notice the array setted up around this area.

"Since my daughter has already promised you that the commission will be worth your time, wouldn't it be natural for me to thank you personally for making the trip here to help out? On the table right now are three spatial rings, you're free to observe the contents within them, but you can only choose one of the three to take away with you."

Brimstone then took a seat and leaned back against it, his eyes closed as he tried to recall the contents within the three spatial rings.

The first spatial ring contained a Saint grade sword skill, Dance of the Phoenix. It might not be that precious in the Divine realm, but to sword masters that have yet to find a sword skill that suits them best, it was a priceless treasure that ranks above anything else.

Contained within the second spatial ring was a combat artefact. The combat artefact has no offensive properties, but in terms of just defense, it was able to reflect any attack weaker than that of a Saint. But what makes it stand out is the fact that its defensive properties aren't limited by the cultivation of the person that possesses it.

As for the third spatial ring, contained within it was the feather of the phoenix race. It wasn't just a feather that originated from the phoenix race, but from the first phoenix. The phoenix whose name resounded across the Divine realm, only to fail to progress higher due to its innate bloodline.

Checking the first spatial ring, Ace knew that it was important to him, but on second thought, he placed down the first spatial ring.

Picking up the second spatial ring, he realised that it was also of great use to him, if he had it, he would be able to obtain countless cultivation treasures easily, but he still calmed down and placed it back on the table.

Picking up the third spatial ring, he realised that it was just a feather from the phoenix race. But his bloodline was actually screaming at him to take it regardless of the cost, without any hesitation, Ace made up his mind.

"I've decided, I'll take the spatial ring that contains the phoenix feather." Ace pondered for a short while on the surface before making the decision.

"Can I know why you'll choose a feather that doesn't benefit you in the slightest compared to a sword skill or a treasured artefact?" Brimstone asked calmly despite being surprised.

As he spoke, he kept both the spatial rings while maintaining eye contact with Ace who showed no signs of regret.

"To be honest with you, I have no idea why I need the feather either. You can say that it's fate I have with it, but since I've made up my mind, then that's the decision that I'll be going with." Ace answered honestly, his eyes observing the surroundings constantly.

When he came through the door and entered the room, he realised that everything was far too well maintained to be true for a guest room.

The bed and curtains were cleaned without a speck of dust, the chairs and table were just polished recently and even the furniture and decorations were perfectly well maintained. This room having no fault to it was the greatest flaw.

"Since you're still here, I have another job for you to do. But don't worry, the commission will definitely be worth your time." Brimstone offered as he took out what seems like a token.

Hearing that there was another job, Ace's interest was piqued immediately as he asked, "What do you need me to do?"

Let's hope that he can rank in the top ten in the tower of courage. If he does, then maybe he does stand a chance in working with me in the future, but if he doesn't, it seems that my relationship with him will have to end here.

Brimstone planned out in the brief amount of time Ace spent accepting the offer.

"In half a month time, the sword tower will be opened up once again. What I need you to do is enter the sword tower and get yourself a good placing. The higher your placement, the better the final reward." Brimstone explained which helped Ace understand what his intentions were.

The guest room must have been tidied up right before he was invited in here. As for the reason, it was to hire him to help represent the Lim family to participate in this event.

The sword tower, one of the buildings which was built by the greatest blacksmiths of the Divine realm. It was divided into nine floors, on each floor was a different sword phantom that represented the nine sword masters from the Sword Court.

The Astral Court and the Judgement Court were neighbours, but the Sword Court was different from them. The Sword Court is the ruler of the North. There, it's where all the sword experts gather.

Of course, the phantoms of the sword masters on each floor was much weaker than their peak strength, they had no cultivation to begin with, but even when all the talented geniuses below eighteen were able to fully utilise their cultivation, none have survived a single attack from the sword phantoms.

In the end, the rules were changed. On each floor, the respective swords masters would set up a challenge, those that succeed would ascend to the next floor, those that fail would be transported outside the sword tower.

Only those that manage to ascend the nine floors were given the chance to challenge one of the sword master phantoms. But even then, only two had reached the top in history. One of them had lost after a tough battle while the other was totally crushed and destroyed in four exchanges.

"I see, if that's the case, do you know of any location where I can cultivate my sword law?" Ace asked after understanding the full situation from Brimstone who explained everything detailedly for him.

"What sword law do you cultivate? If it's any of the five elements, my Lim family has the training grounds alongside with a few rare elements. If it's any unique laws, I should be able to find a suitable cultivation ground for you."

"I cultivate the slaughter law."

"What did you just say?"
