"What have you done?"

Lucy jerked when she heard someone yelled at her at the top of his lung. She was suddenly pulled back into really.

"I—I don't know!"

It was a whisper of confused and agony that barely comes out in her lips.

"You did not realize how you put yourself in a very dangerous situation?"

Kai angrily yelled at her. He was sure that this stupid woman in front if him will become a sacrificial pawn, and he could not tolerate that kind of injustice.

"How it happened? For Pete's sake! Don't you know, these people won't let you off even if you are innocent, do you hear me?"

Upon hearing, it her tears flooded. She doesn't know what's going either, it happened so fast, and she herself lost track of it.

She just woke up in the bathroom with knife in her hands and saw Devy her best friend lying dead in the bed, covered with bloods.

Her mind automatically went blank,

Lucy knew she had a terrible drinking habit, she will forget everything that happened on that night as soon as she woke up the next day.

But no matter how hard she thought about it doesn't make any sense. How she could kill her own best friend? The worst thing is that all the evidence was pointed towards her.

There was no sign of force entry and besides all the rooms in their building needs a pass code.

Lucy wanted to cry hard but there were no tears in her eyes, she was so shocked and sat in front of Devy's lifeless body. She doesn't even remember how she reported the incident to the authorities.

She just realized someone dragged her out and brought her to the police department for questioning.

Her tears once again blinded her eyes.

Devy just come to see her, she arrived yesterday and asked to meet her. They have so many days to catch up as they were far away from each other in a long time.

Lucy talked something to Devy over the phone, she wanted someone to talk to so Devy decided to sleep in her apartment and drink a can of beer. If she had known these things would happen she should have told her not to come or even have a single sip.

She was her best friend and sister. How could someone killed Devy and blame her?

"I'll swear I didn't do it!"

It was a plea of innocent but how could she proved it.

Kai brushed his hair with his finger in frustration.

"Think how it happened?"

Think how it happened? Lucy repeated his question but even if she cracked her head she could not find an answer.

Yet this bastard pretend to care? It was just yesterday when he accused me of killing someone. What a hypocrite! She thought angrily.

"Why the hell do you care? It was just yesterday when you accused me of killing someone—"

"Shut up!" he bang the table. "You are innocent yet so you'd better help yourself and watch your mouth!"

"I told you, it wasn't me!"

"I know!" Kai snapped. "I thought you are smart enough to realized everything. Do you think I would be wasting my breath if you—"

"Enough!" Lucy shouted in agony. "Instead of yelling at me why don't you prove that I'm innocent?"

Kai was suddenly stunned. It's true that bending his frustration to her wont make any difference, he had to prove that she's innocent.

"Yeah—"

He said while nodding his head.

"It's actually none of my business, damn it!"

Kai hit the table once again before leaving her. He was so pissed by the fact that someone would use an innocent to be a scapegoat just for the sake of a goddamn fame.

"Damn it!"

Detective Flores jerked when he heard his superior.

"What are we going to do now?"

"You two had nothing to do with this!"

They both turn their heads toward the man who spoke behind them.

It was their chief police investigator. They saluted him before following him in his office.

"What do you mean, Sir?"

"You heard me!" Chief Lopez said sourly. "Mind your promotion—"

"Promotion?" he snorts. "At the expense of innocent people? How I am different to those bastard?"

Kai lost his temper and yelled to his superior who was in shocked. Detective Flores tried to calm him down but Kai shoved him instead.

"You were just following orders, I bet?" he said shaking his head. "So we are just nothing but a clown here!"

Kai said with disgust before leaving his superior. He was already pissed for what happened earlier and adding his superior command was like putting oil into the fire.

"That. .that idiot?"

Chief Lopez blood pressure suddenly rise, His face reddened in anger.

"Tell that jerked to come back in here!"

He yelled so loud that make his voiced echoed in their department.

Detective Flores followed Kai outside.

"Are you crazy?" Detective Flores unbelievable asked him. "Are you throwing your promotion just because of that woman?"

"I don't need your opinion!"

He said while pulling his car out of the garage, Detective Flores hope in.

"Haissst. . Seriously?"

Detective Flores complaint to himself but nevertheless followed his superior and get himself inside the car.

"What are you doing in here? Get out!"

Kai said while gritting his teeth, he was still pissed off with his superior, with everything. Today seems to be a bad day for him.

"We have to find evidence to prove her innocence, aren't we?"

Detective Flores said ignoring him. He knew his superior when it comes to stubbornness, you could not argue with him unless you have a solid prof that you were right, and he is wrong.

Everything is unknown not unless they could prove something! Kai thought.

"We can't just let her rot in hell while the real culprit is having a nice life outside!"

Kai said with determination in his voice. Detective Flores seems to be suspicious about his superior's true motive but nevertheless he remained silent.
