"So what is this game called," Israel asked Ava as they were walking down the street. At first, Israel did not want to walk with Ava, as he thought she would look bad because of him, but she demanded it, so he reluctantly agreed when she threatened not to buy him the VR headset.
They were currently on their way to Ava's house, as she also said she wouldn't buy him the headset if he didn't first take a bath. So they were now going to first head to Ava's house, so he could freshen up before they went to stand in line for the VR headset.
"I was reading up on WISP, and it said that its called Pokemon Online. The game was created in order to emulate the monsters that are in the wildlands, in order to increase the users fighting capability." Ava said.
World's Interconnected Subconsciousness Platform, or WISP for short, was this world's Internet of sorts. Of course, they did not have normal internet, but some genius actually created something much better that allowed all people to interconnect their subconsciousness onto one single platform that allows for easy communication and access to knowledge. This was created through the use of some psychic gifts, so most people cant connect to it without some technology, like computers, cellphones, or in this case VR headsets.
"So it's just the monsters from the wildlands placed in a game that we fight?" Israel asked confused.
"No. The monsters or Pokemon that are in the game are different from the ones in the wildlands, but they have the same fighting capabilities as the ones in the wildlands. They use different attacks, but the difficulty to defeat them is said to be similar to monsters in the wildlands." Ava said.
"And why did they make it an MMORPG? Why not just make it a single-player training ground" Israel asked.
"The creator of the game said that there are unique opportunities in the game, and everyone who plays should have equal opportunities to claim them."
Hearing the mysteriousness of this answer causing Israel to sink into deep thought. Ava decided not to bother him and just led the way to her house. There was, of course, countless curious, and even disgusted glances that were thrown at the two, but the murderous glares of Ava scared them all off.
"We are here," Ava said pulling Israel from his thoughts.
He looked up to see a two-story house, that was very nice looking, and accurately showed off the wealth of Ava's family.
Walking through the door Israel tread lightly, as if he was afraid to dirt anything with just his presence.
Looking behind him he noticed in horror that he left a trail of dirty footprints across her pathway and towards her front door. He looked towards her with a stutter as he began to apologize, but she motioned for him that it was fine, but to take off his shoes when he got in the house.
He took off his shoes, but his feet were also very dirty, so he just felt embarrassed to the extreme. He normally only took bathes in the river than ran through the city, but since it was nearing the winter months it was much too cold outside for him to do that so he had gone quite some time without washing.
Ava led him to the bathroom as she said "Don't worry about the mess I'll clean it up. Just put your dirty clothes in the hamper there, and I'll get you some new ones by the time you are done.
Israel nodded before he went into the bathroom, and undressed before putting all his clothes in the hamper and turning on the shower and stepping inside.
Looking down at the bottom of the shower he saw all the dirt that was caked on him being washed down the drain. He stood in the shower for a good twenty minutes just trying to get all the dirt off his body before he finally began to use shampoo and body wash.
When scrubbing his hair and began to wash off the shampoo when he heard the door open and he froze mid scrub with soap covering his eyes, no idea what was happening.
"Yes?" he asked slowly as he heard the door open.
"Oh, nothing I'm just putting your clothes in here and taking the dirty ones." he heard Ava say, even though he swore he could feel someone looking at him.
"You could have left them at the door," He said to her.
"Oh its no problem. Actually it's my pleasure" Ava said before closing the door again.
Israel knew he was taken advantage of, but he also knew he could not do anything about it.
He quickly finished with his shower and put on the new set of clothes amazed at how they fit perfectly before he stepped out of the bathroom.
He saw Ava sitting on the couch and she looked at him with a huge smile on her face and said "You look so handsome! I'm falling in love all over again!" she squealed.
Israel smiled sheepishly and looked at himself in the mirror and realized he did indeed look very handsome. He had not seen himself look this clean since he was nine years old, and the years had done him well, as he was a lady killer for sure.
His pitch-black hair matched with his pitch-black eyes made him devilishly handsome. Even his teeth were a pearly white which was a wonder considering the circumstances he has been in the past eight years of his life. Seeing this he wondered if he was part beast because they also always seemed to have white teeth even after eating all that fresh bloody meat.
He went over to grab his shoes and found they were not there. "Ah, what happened to my shoes?"
"I threw them away! They don't match your current outfit, and they were way beyond repair anyways. I got you new ones." she pointed to a pair of shoes next to the doormat.
"So my clothes?" Israel asked.
"They are in the washer. I will keep those!" Ava said with a smile as she got up from the couch preparing to leave to the store now that Israel had freshened up.
Israel paused a bit when he heard the last part "You are keeping them?"
"Of course! Trades must be of equal value! I got your new clothes, and I'm going to buy you a new VR headset, so I should at least be able to keep your old clothes!" Ava said with a nod.
Israel was stunned with her reasoning but decided not to argue over old clothes, and so he put on his shoes and left the house with Ava to go buy the Pokemon Online VR headset.
