While Joshua, Adrian, and Aito were looking through catalogs of things explorers were expected to be interested in Henry seemed to have other plans. Joshua had taken notice of the fact that Henry hadn't brought anything out of the catalog he was looking at to observe so he decided to find out just what his longtime friend was looking for. "Henry, you find anything interesting?"
"Hmm, I've found a lot of things interesting but what I'm looking at now is something I could have only dreamed of when we were kids." Henry said as a big smiled started to appear on his face. "I knew that most of you would just look at weapons or other items that we've been able to find from dungeons. It's to be expected. As humans we often think of what we're used to and comfortable with before looking for something more exciting."
"Yeah, yeah. What have you decided to go for that's apparently put us all to shame?" Adrian said as he swung around one of the blades he had pulled up from the system to get a feel for it. Joshua smiled at Adrian's reaction, but he did notice that everyone in the shop seemed to be looking through catalogs that involved weapons or armor. Some people had potions and recipe formulas, but for the most part it was all stuff they could possibly find on their own when out exploring. Joshua got the distinct feeling that whatever Henry had found was something that was going the blow the idea of the common explorer trope out of the water.
"Well then my friends, let me welcome you to the true wonders of the Universal Shop." Henry said with a big grin before he willed whatever he was looking at through the catalog to appear in front of them. Whatever it was towered over the group as it was coming into form as it was teleported directly in front of Henry. It was so big that every other person in the store besides Joshua's group was now looking in their direction. At first from the shape Joshua thought it might be a futuristic plane of sorts, but it was twice the size of some of the larger passenger planes that Joshua had seen when traveling to any airport.
When the full item was brought in front of them Joshua could only look in wonder at the massive ship. At first he thought it might be a plane just off of shape and size, but when he could actually see the details of it he knew right away that he was looking at a space ship straight out of a sci-fi movie or game. It had massive thrusters on the back end along with several other objects on it that a plane wouldn't need. The thrusters were clearly far more complex than anything Joshua had seen while watching some of the NASA launches. It also seemed to be somewhat armored and had weapons on its top that were clearly some sort of blasters that Joshua knew weren't anything that humans had any knowledge of how to make a reality in a functional way.
"Now this is the first thing I ended up looking for the moment I came here. I mean come on it's called the Universe Shop. It better have a way to travel through space." Henry said with a grin before starting to read off some of the information on the spaceship. "It's considered a solar class space ship and is only able to travel so far, but it's more than possible to travel amongst our solar system with this extremely effectively. It uses a form of short warp to travel large distances in space in a matter of minutes. With this we could go from earth to mars in minutes, but we can't use it to travel to other galaxies on its own. It's not built for that."
"If it's not built to travel those kinds of distances then I bet there are ships that are." Joshua said still looking at the ship in shock.
"There are, but most space ships that are designed for that are much bigger. This one is like a small sail boat in comparison to those giant cruise boat like freighters. This was one of the few space ships that's actually available for purchase to us and it cost two and a half million universe coins." Henry said with a frown catching everyone by surprise. "If this little guy cost so much you can imagine just how ridiculous those much larger ships would cost. This is like buying a regular car in comparison to buying a mansion that can house that car along with several others while traveling throughout the universe."
"Well I'm surprised that it looks like this. It looks more like something humans might have eventually made instead of a flying saucer." Aito said with a shrug. "Even so its way out of our price range for the foreseeable future." While Aito was pointing this out Joshua looked up a size comparison between this space ship and one of the larger ones that were able to explore the universe. This massive space ship was like a car being placed on a massive cargo ship. Even then the freighter class ship he was looking at was one of the smaller ones, and it cost three hundred million universe coins.
Before any of them could say anything else a hatch underneath the ship opened up creating a stair case that went down to the ground for them to walk up. Henry led the way with an extra pep in his step from the excitement of actually going into a spaceship. Joshua just chuckled before following him inside with Aito and Adrian following close behind. The inside of the ship was quite spacious, but there were several things around that Joshua had no idea how to use. He walked over to a door and clicked on a panel next to that caused it to open up into a decent sized room that was clearly there for a person to sleep. It was similar to what you would find on a cruise ship, but with a more futuristic feel.
When Joshua left the room and started exploring the rest of the ship he noticed that there were several similar rooms and he counted up to thirty of them showing the capacity to an extent of the space ship. Each room had two sets of beds so the ship could probably carry around sixty people on it without any trouble. "Hey guys come here." Henry shouted in glee gaining everyone's attention. Joshua left one of the bedrooms and made his way to the front of the ship where he could here Henry's voice. He passed through a rather large room that looked like a resting area with plenty of space for people to move around and a kitchen far off to the side with multiple large refrigeration units of some kind. Even though people could use the system to store stuff it was always good to have a good storage set up on a ship of any kind.
When Joshua made his way to the front of the space ship it opened up into something similar to the bridge of a ship where there were several controls all laid out around the room and there was a massive display around the room that showed what was going on outside of the ship. Through the display you could see the starry night sky of the universe shop and truly made Joshua feel like he was standing at the command of a ship that was flying through space. Looking around the room Joshua could see that there were around ten or so command stations for people to sit at with one clearly being a pilot seat in the center near the front. There was also a circular table like structure in the center of the room that was currently displaying a large hologram of earth, the moon, and its surroundings.
"This is amazing isn't it? Now I have a new goal to strive for. There's no way in hell we're not getting one of these babies when we've got the coins for it." Henry said excitedly as he walked over to the hologram of earth and touched the display causing it to zoom out to the point where they could see the sun and most of their solar system. It was like a GPS system that showed their nearby surroundings, but on a far larger scale.
"I'd think we'd need to buy something like this just for the technology it would offer us in the future. Think of all the things we could learn from it." Aito said with a serious look as he scanned the room. "This ship is decades if not centuries ahead of where we were technology wise and breaking it down could teach us a lot."
"Then we could probably build one of our own and not have to spend so much on them in the future, but that's a problem for future us to figure out. For now there's something else I found interesting in the shop." Adrian said with a big grin before opening up his catalog. "This is something I spotted after you brought up the whole space ship thing."
What appeared in front of him was an armored mechanical suit that looked like something out of a super hero comic. It had weapons attached to its back and thrusters as well that clearly pointed to it being able to fly. "Apparently this is a big product going around the shop. Of course this is the simplest version I could find and it still cost a hundred thousand universe coins." Adrian pointed out. "It likely means that we'll get a chance to explore other worlds and having suits like this to help us survive in those environments will be a necessity as well."
Joshua could just see from all of the little and big things that they were finding in the universe shop there was no way that they would be able to afford anything of real value at the moment. The only things that were in their price range were some of the weapons, but Joshua had no need of them since the equipment Nathan and Naomi made was more than good enough for what they had to deal with at the time. Joshua could only sigh at seeing just how much bigger things were going to get for them if space ships were a common thing in the future.
