Chapter 225: Territory Guardian is Unleashed Part 1

Joshua stood up on the wall along with several other members of the guild as they all looked down and watched what was happening below. It had been an hour since the ants first started their attack on James Town and at this point it was clear that they weren't going to be able to get through the defenses. At first the amount of ants seemed daunting, but this was the first time Joshua and the rest of the guild were able to see how big of a difference upgrading to a large guild could make when it came to the strength of territory defenses.

The most noticeable thing right off the back was how powerful and organized the robotic troops were that were on the front line holding back the ants. At the moment composition of robotic troops were set up to where there were two lines of larger more armored robots that were the tanks of the group. The lines were set up like a checkered board where the back line would fill in the gaps of the front line so that it could be spread out wide enough to block off the whole town. These troops had extremely thick armor with large shields and heavy duty swords along with shot guns that could be used to knock back large beast. They were made to take a beating and hold back enemies for long periods of time.

Just behind the tank units there was a mix of close ranged style combat robots that had either spears or swords that went for the killing blows on any injured ants that were being held down by the tank units up front. Along with these robots there were also much smaller repair robots that could pull back damaged tank units and fix them up from any damage that wasn't too severe like a missing head or destroyed torso. The next two groups made up the most of the robotic army and were the ones doing most of the damage to the ants at the moment. These two groups were the different ranged combat units.

There were three hundred light artillery ranged units that used assault rifles as their main weapons that fired off a mix of armor piercing and explosive rounds that tore through the ants' armor like cardboard. The other group was three hundred units of heavy artillery robots that were more stationary and far in the back. They either fired off missiles that bombarded the ants from above or had sniper rifles that they used to take out any of the flying ants that tried to fly over the army. Of course the turrets were there to shoot them down as well along with tearing through the waves of ants that couldn't push past the robotic army.

If it was just the robotic army alone the ants would have eventually been able to break through, but Lily's beast army from the stables was causing chaos everywhere you looked. While the ants were chaotic and disorganized sense they had just calmed down from rampaging all the way towards the area the beast army used that to their advantage. There were around fifty giant praying mantises that flied above the ant army and swooped down with their giant scythe like arms to cut clean through the ants as they passed by. The level disparity was too much for the ants to deal with and they were noting more that easy prey for such powerful creatures. All of Lily's beast in the stables were at least level eighty at this point do to the strengthening of the stables and it showed with how easily they were killing the ants.

She had a group of nearly a hundred bats flying around and dropping explosives into any area that had tons of ants piling up. Hundreds of dogs could be seen running around the ant army and killing any stragglers that wondered too far away from the main group, and lastly there were three giant lizards that were all nearly five stories tall that used their massive tails to tear through the waves of ants and would spit out venom that melted the armor of the ants as well. The giant wall of beast and robots was making quick work of the ants and that wasn't something that looked like it would change anytime soon. At this point the amount of ants that were coming into the plains was slowing down to a trickle and within the next fifteen minutes they'd all be cleared out.

Of course the ants were able to do some damage even if they couldn't break through and were able to destroy several robots, but since the territory war hadn't started yet there was no restriction on creating more robots to go out and replace the ones that were damaged. The same could be said for the beast from the stables. If any of them got hurt significantly they'd instantly be teleported away back to the soul realm of the stables. Then more beast would be allowed to come out of the stables and help out with the town's defense. It was the perfect set up that could keep the town properly defended for days on end. It was just a matter of having the materials to fix the robots and a certain amount of beast in the stables around to keep helping out.

The invaders of the Rampage Guild along with Kyle and his ex-mercenaries could do nothing but sit and watch since they had to wait until the territory war began before they could join in on the fight. By the time that was possible all of the ants would be cleared out and the defenses would be reset and ready for their advance. Joshua could already imagine just how enraged Kyle was at seeing his plan do very little.

"Well it looks like our basic defenses held firm without much trouble, but on their own I don't think they'll be able to stop a large guild from getting to the wall and trying to break through." Julia said with a frown. "A thousand robots and a thousand beast won't be able to hold off ten thousand well trained explorers."

"Not to mention we're probably running low on heavy armor piercing rounds so our turrets probably won't be able to break through any barriers they put up while pushing forward." Henry said getting nods from those who had seen previous territory wars. "It'll take the beast and robots creating openings for the turrets to actually do any real damage."

"If that was all we had to defend our base then we would have to step in and fight alongside them, but we won't be holding anything back the moment the territory war begins. We'll start things off with the powerful metallic guardians to take them by surprise. Although there is a limit to the amount of them we can abuse that limit since it was significantly raised once we became a large guild." Joshua said with a smile.

"Small guilds can only use two at a time, mid-sized guilds can use five, and large guilds can use ten." Henry said smiling back after he saw yet another reason why Joshua had been rushing to become a large guild.

"We might be overwhelmed when it comes to the number of explorers involved in this fight, but the amount of defenses we have that they will have no idea about will win us this war without us even having to lift a finger." Adrian said knowing full well just how annoying those metallic beast were to deal with. The lizards were massive with a core that was extremely difficult to reach. Their defensive capabilities would allow them to tank for the robots and the other beast for long periods of time. On the other hand the multi-headed centipede was a far more aggressive entity that would be hard to figure out how to destroy without knowing the trick to it. At the moment they had seven metallic lizards and three of the centipedes which was the perfect amount.

By the time the territory war was just a couple minutes away from starting all of the ants were dead leaving their bodies and cores all over the field. The robot squadrons had moved back towards the gate and any damaged ones had been replaced before the territory war could start. The beast from the stables also backed away with the ones that could fly landing along the walls and the rest standing beside the robotic army. They were all healed up by healers in the guild and ready to fight once more. Many of them had gained levels from the hour plus long fight with the ants. In the end Kyle's tactics had only made Joshua's army stronger and now they'd have to face it head on.

A minute before the match would begin Joshua took out eleven totem like entities from the town's storage. He threw ten of them down the wall in front of the robotic army and waited for the territory war to begin. The moment the countdown ended and things kicked off Joshua watched as the Rampage Guild rushed out from the trees on the opposite side of where the ants came from. There were lines of tanks out front that had their shields ready to block the turret fire while everyone else followed behind prepared to attack the moment they got close enough. Once they got within turret range the reign of bullets began and the tanks shifted in turns putting up shield walls. The bullets weren't going to be enough to break through high level tank's defenses, but Joshua had another surprise in that regard.

A couple of the turrets suddenly fired off four larger bullets that exploded on impact destroying the shield walls and knocking back some of the tanks. The explosion wasn't enough to take out any experienced explorers, but it did punch holes in their rows of tanks. They didn't have enough of this type of ammo to use it constantly, but every so often the explosive rounds would be used to destroy a shield wall so some of the normal bullets could pour through and cause some problems.

While this was happening the ten totems that Joshua had thrown down earlier suddenly activated changing form as they grew in size. Seven of them turned into giant metallic lizards that were all around the same size as full scale Tank. They didn't particularly do anything special, but their sheer size and power alone would tear through the frontlines of the invaders. The Rampage Guild didn't stop their push forward, but they did seem wearier of the sudden seven giant beast that were rushing their way. The robotic army and the beast from the stables followed after them to go on the attack as well. When the seven giant lizards slammed into the front lines they created havoc amongst the tanks while the mages tried to blast through the giant beast and found that small scale spells hardly did more than leave scuff marks.

The other three totems grew into even bigger creatures as the towering multi-bodied centipedes raced out towards the now chaotic scene and leaped over the tanks to go directly for the back lines causing things to grow worse for the invaders. Joshua watched all the chaos waiting for the right time to unleash his biggest trump card as he looked down at the golden totem that he still held in his hands.
