Looking back I saw Noah was already on his heels and catching up with me. I walked faster and made my way to the dancefloor, going deeper into the crowd. As I reached the centre of floor, I was completely hidden by the people around me. If only he overlooked me then I could make run for the exit. Moreover I was already starting to feel my limbs to some extent. As I stood there looking around and my eyes locked with him, his eyes are full of unknown rage and he smirked before pushing away people to come my way.
My breath caught up in my lungs. It was happening all again just like the last time. I stumbled back a few steps my eyes still locked with his. I bumped into someone and they pushed me away, my legs gave in and I fell down. I tried to get myself back on my feet but it was useless, they refused to budge. I moved backwards, still on the floor and he quickly made his way to me, I could feel my heart thumping against my ribcage with each step he took toward me. The feeling was pure dread just like the last time.
I moved back again and tried getting on my feet but my hands were still numb and I fell back again, this time bumping into somebody's calf, "What the fuck?" The person growled and looked down at me, "Hey," his voice seemed to come from miles away. "Hey, you alright?" He bent down, his hand on my cheek. But my eyes were fixed at the person who was getting closer every second. "Oh shit," I heard the man mumble, "Lucifer," he shouted and his voice pierced through my ears, I moved to cover them. He shouted louder this time and then I felt somebody come behind me, "I guess she's hyperventilating," the man said.
I tried to move away, afraid of landing myself in somebody else's hands I didn't even know. "Everly," I looked up to see a face I knew. I immediately sensed the concern in his voice, "Hey, Everly." He said again and then I saw Noah right beside the man, he whispered something in his ear and the man looked at me. What was he telling him? Was he believing what he said? The man leaned down and said something in Adler's ear. He looked at me and then bent forward, "You're with him sweetheart?" He whispered stroking my cheek.
I shook my head furiously and gripped his jacket, "No. No, I'm not." I said pulling him to myself to hide from Noah who was still staring at me. "She isn't." Adler wrapped his arm around me.
"Yes she is. She's just had too much alcohol, that's it," he made a move to get me but the man stopped him, "You heard what she said. Now leave."
I heard an argument break out between the two but I only buried my face further into his chest, trying to block away all of the sounds. I heard some sounds and then I was picked up.
The voices started to dampen and then they finally stopped. I felt myself dropped on a plush seating and then the warmth of the arms left me. "Everly, please open your eyes." I opened my eyes and took in the dim lighting, I looked around and found myself in a room, I straightened myself immediately.
"Easy. It's alright now." He handed me a glass of water and I took it immediately, my throat seemed dry all of a sudden and gulped it down. Remembering the taste of his blood in my mouth I threw up, coughing. "Everly please slow down. I'm right here. Nobody can harm you." He caressed my hair.
I sat there in silence while his hand caressed my hair. There was a knock on the door and I stiffened. Adler got up to take the door and then the man from earlier stepped in. "Hey are you fine now?" He asked. Even in the dim light his dark blue eyes shone like two sapphires and his dark blond hair reflected the light making them appear to shine. I guessed it was just a light trick.
The man moved forward and handed me a bottle, "Here it'll make you feel better." Instead I look up at Adler and he nodded, I took the bottle from him. He went to stand beside Adler and they got into a conversation while I slowly sipped the juice. After a moment they sat across me on the plush couch. "Everly," I looked up at him, "this is Nash, he's the owner of this club and about that guy," I froze at his words. "Don't worry he cannot touch even a strand of your hair when I'm here." He growled making me jump.
The guy, Nash sighed, "Let me do the talking Lucifer," he turned to me, "So, Everly seeing you out there only adds up to the story he told us, and if you could tell us what exactly happened between you two, actions will be taken against him. But if you don't wish to, we won't force you. It goes as you say."
I looked between them and then down at the bottle in my hands. Did I really want this? He did something that was against my wills and not to mention against the law, but was I really willing to do that. Filing a complaint would mean I might have to stay here a little long, also it might also need hiring a lawyer and both which required money, which I was already short of. And the decision was made, I looked at them and shook my head, "I think there's no need."
Nash sighed and rubbed his hands on his knees, "Okay if that's–" Adler cut him off, "And why is that?"
"I, uh," I stuttered to find the correct words. As if Nash sensed it he asked Adler to leave, which reluctantly he did. Nash smiled, "Okay, it's totally fine. You just wait here." And he joined him outside.
I slumped down into the couch, today was one heck of a day, considering the competition was tomorrow. I had to get back to my motel. I got up almost immediately and went for the door but before I could pull it open, it was opened from the outside, Adler stood at the door, "Going somewhere?"
I lost my words looking up at him, so I just nodded.
"I'll drop you." He said.
"No, it's alright, I can go on my own." I said.
"Everly I've had enough already. You got entangled with that man and remembering your face from moments ago there's no way I'm going to let you go alone." He snapped. I was taken aback by his outburst.
After taking a few calming breaths he spoke again, "Come now, it's already late." There was no room for negotiation, his decision was final, so I followed him, because getting a taxi at this late hour would be difficult.
As we waited in front of the club for his car to be brought out, Nash came too. "You're leaving without your friend Lucifer?" He asked.
"Yes," he bluntly replied without giving him a second look. Did this man has something called emotions? Nash just shook his head smiling and his eyes fell on me, "You're mighty small. I couldn't even see you standing beside this giant." He motioned toward Adler, who was still looking ahead. Giant, yes. Adler really happened to be a giant. Most of the people looked tall beside me but he made me feel tiny, with his big, lean muscular body.
The car finally arrived at the driveway and Adler made his way to it.
Nash looked down at me, his playful tone gone, "Everly I'm fully aware of what happened back in the club and you have my deepest apologies. The hall he took you to is still under renovation and is not opened to public and he seemingly took advantage of that. And if you change your mind please contact anyone of us and the work will be done."
"Thank you so much. As for my decision, I think I'll stick to it."
"Okay, as you–"
"Everly," Adler shouted making me jump, and Nash chuckled, "Sorry about that he just forgets his etiquettes sometimes. You should go now. Take care."
Destiny was really something. The ride which I had refused earlier came back. As I stood staring at the beauty in front of me Adler came up behind me, "You planning to get in?" He whispered in my ear making my goosebumps rise. What exactly is with this man? Can't he speak normally? He cocked his brow and opened the door for me. I stood for a moment contemplating and as if he read my thoughts he spoke, "I know exactly what you're thinking and my answer is yes, you have every right to sit in it."
Did he have some super power? I mean, what the hell? But before I could say anything his hand landed on the small of my back and he pushed me toward the door. I finally decided on giving in and sat inside. He shut the door and moved across the car and got seated in the driver's seat.
