Episode 10: Saffron Gym Battle & Awakening

Walking around Saffron I noticed that not many Pokemon Trainers are walking around. Asking a random Trainer why that was he told me that it's because the Gym being one of the stronger ones, even at the earlier stages in one's journey. So after that conversation I realizing that I could be done with the next few Gyms easier, if I just take out this one first. So going and asking people just exactly what type this Gym specializes in, I found out it specializes in the Psychic type.

Considering that this region has very little Pokemon that are good against the Psychic type, and anyone could see why this Gym is a problem for most. But for me this Gym is a going to be a piece of cake with Pooch, Emblance, and myself the Gym will stand no chance. The only problem would be what will be my third Pokemon. I was thinking of using Aurum at first, but put that thought away as I use him in pretty much every battle that I've fought thus far. So I finally settled on using Ziggy, he had completed the basic elemental guides that I had, so he is quite the small monster.

It took nearly twenty minutes to get to the Gym, the reason for that is that this city is way to big! Even while running it would have only shaved the time off by a couple of minutes, not helping would be the crowds, they are literally everywhere. But I am finally here. Opening the door I found a single hallway leading to the Gym battling arena, there was no one else in the entire building. I searched with my aura and still found noone.

Heading to the battle arena I found the Gym leader Sabrina. She had long dark green hair reaching down all the way past her back. She was wearing a dull red suit, and had a weird looking doll. Challenging her she seemed surprised, and didn't seem to know the Battle Trainer rules. After explaining them to her we commenced the battle. She lead with a Mr. Mime, Hypno, and Alakazam all powerful psychic type pokemon. I lead off with Pooch, Ziggy, and Emblace. With no referee there was no way to fairly start the fight so we both tossed up a coin, and when the last one fell the battle would start.

Once the coin hit the ground she seemed to have ordered her Mr. Mime to set up Reflect, while Hypno moved up and used Brick Break on Pooch. Emblance immediately went up to it and used Night Slash, both Pooch and the Hypno where damaged pretty badly. I went up to the Alakazam and tried using Shadow Claw but ended up missing as it teleported away. Ziggy on the other hand was doing quite fine against Mr. Mime dodging all of its attacks while firing off it's own, but it just couldn't deal any significant damage to it.

The Hypno went down after both Emblace and Pooch used Dark Pulse on it. They then went to assist Ziggy as I was just playing a game of cat and mouse with Alakazam. I finally hit Alakazam with Shadow Claw, and then used Shadow Ball only for it to counter with its own Shadow Ball cancelling them out. Mr. Mime went down with the combined might of Ziggy, Pooch, and Emblace. After trying to reach me they were teleported away further back each time they came near. So with me facing the Alakazam and every other pokemon taken care of I figured I should try to use Shadow Sneak.

I had tried using it before, but trying to controlling an energy I don't fully understand is insanely difficult. Nonetheless if it means I could get this battle over with, I am willing to attempt it once more. Converging my body in shadow I tried to make myself become less physical and more spiritual, all in order to move through the shadows easier.

After doing that I started descending through my own shadow, on the outside I looked as it I was falling through the floor. I swam around in the Shadowy Void until I spotted Alakazam's light, in this Void all beings that can be seen with the naked eye are shown as siluets made out of light. Sneaking up on it, I went behind it and used Shadow Claw on Alakazam. It not expecting it got knocked out in only one hit.

After that I got the Marsh Badge and the Battle Marsh Badge, even if it was a little dusty. Sabrina asked me how I was able to use pokemon move, so I explained to her the basics of PokeCores and how to awaken them. She asked if she could awaken it right away and I thought why the heck not, so we agreed to meet in the Gym tomorrow as i wanted to sleep. Finding a place to set up a tent was pretty easy, with the only problem being the noise of both pokemon in the night and cars speeding on the roads.

Waking up in the morning I headed straight to the gym once more to awaken Sabrina's PokeCore. She was waiting right outside of the Gym and lead me inside. After making sure one last time if she wanted to go through with this, all she did was nod.

Awakening a PokeCore is simple either you are born awakened like my, or you need your PokeCore(s) stimulated by another that has awakened. This is done preferably with a person who has the same typing of PokeCore as yourself, so that it can be enhanced by the already awakened core. I had used the Observation/Research function on Sabrina to see which kind of PokeCore she had. to my surprise she has a Abra PokeCore, this means she can grow her psychic power even further in the future.

The PokeCore(s) is located near the heart so having her, so me her bare back I position myself comfortably because this is going to take a while. Stimulating her core with my own Kadabra PokeCore, I slowly get her used to the sensation of having a foreign power unlocked right inside of her. She should feel like her body is burning from the inside out, from what i've read on the subject This went on for a couple of hours, just hearing her screams nearly drove me insane. But we were finally done, and well I hope I never have to do this ever again.

She decided to go take a shower and I was to exhausted, not physically just mentally, to get up. So she lent me a guest room for the afternoon. I once again hit the sack after only eight hours of hearing agonizing screams, and being the cause of said screams. Needless to say I didn't have any good dreams.
