Chapter 7: The preparation for the battle

I am Artemis, and I am a meta. My ability is supersight. It helps me see everything with a 10 km radius and up to 30 km if I focus on a single direction. I normally am on scouting and rescue missions. The past two years have been hard on us. We have been fighting left and right to save humans, eradicate aswangs on our area and create a safe space for our population.

We've accumulated a bit over 500,000 men, women and children. Astronomical yes, but compared to a few 10s of millions of humans living before on the NCR, you could see the scope of destruction.

We've taught that with the destruction of the last aswang tribe here on NCR everything would be peaceful already. That Paraiso(paradise) would be safe and happy place already. But last month a declaration has been made. A declaration of war has been imposed upon us by the aswangs. About a million of them all over Luzon is currently congregating on Bulacan, preparing to attack us in a months time. But we're also preparing.

Among the half a million population we have, more or less 300,000 brave men and women are gearing to fight. My ability would be used as a kind of watchtower and with the help of another Meta, to connect my vision to General Mascardo of the Philippine Army, and to the leader of the S rankers Alexander Corrales.

Alexander is one of the bravest fighters around, always rushing to the front lines to aggro and lessen the pressure on others. He's quite a strong one, a powerful ability coupled with a powerful control. He has gained the permanent respect of everyone, even the most arrogant S rankers and officers.

Right now I'm rushing to a war meeting. To discuss our tactics and our defenses. As I've arrived on the meeting room which is located on the Malacañang palace. This place is the country's presidents' residence and office. But with the departure of the president, the leadership of Paraiso congregate to talk about crucial things. And a crucial thing is what we are dealing now.

By the time that I've arrived the place is half full already. General Mascardo is talking with fellow general , General Reyes about the tactics to be presented later. "Intangible" Alatea Corrales, leader of the scouts and Alexander's sister is absent mindedly sipping some drink. The leader of the A rankers "Shadow assasin" Robyn is talking with the sub leaders of the S rankers "Golden Buddha" Andrian and "Dragon" Jairus.

As I sat down "Ice King" Alexander have arrived with a rather peculiar entourage. He's accompanied by the other two sub leaders, "Warhawk" Nicole and "Steel General" Michael. They were escorting our allies the tikbalang named "Pedro" and the Kapre named "Juan". Tikbalangs are humanoids with the Head of a horse, body of a man and hooves of a horse for his feet. They have strong bodies and mystical abilities.A kapre on the other hand is a 3 meter giant with immense strength and powerful illusion type abilities. They were our allies, together with a tribe of sirenas(Sirens) and syokoys(half fish/half human) who can't help us because they're also fighting a rival tribe.

General Mascardo presided over the meeting. "We have more or less 300,000 strong to face them, here.", As he pointed on the place in Caloocan, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon. "The Rizal, Laguna and Cavite provinces is controlled by our allies so no need to fuss over them" he continued.
