Chapter 3 (the giving)

Every year in Halewood all the 18 year olds celebrate their final birthdays with a grand tournament. The girls all do contest in knitting, baking, and other more feminine activities. And the boys do contests in sword fighting, hiking, and other masculine activities. At the end the top twenty candidates all partner up and date other candidates. Some of the men and women can identify as the opposite gender or can have attractions to the same sex. They have the option to join the other team or date the same sex if they get to the end. If you get disqualified the next gender of the sex you are attracted to that gets disqualified gets paired with you for life. The earlier on in the tournament that you get disqualified the poorer you are in life. If you win best couple for the dating part you get to live in them castle with the king and queen of Halewood. It is said that if you prove yourself again and again in the Castle you and your spouse will become the next hierarchy of Halewood.
