Chapter One_No Second Chances
Jenny has never lived her best life, is to say the least. Almost as if she's only experienced the worst parts. She was always one to stay positive, just to keep herself from going off the edge. However her sanity was always on the line. She was that one nice person that no one really noticed. She had so much patience but she was slowly losing it. She's still fighting against it but at moments like this, she wondered if it was the best choice for her. Most people that were close to her called her Jen but her name was actually Jenny.
Jenny felt some kind of emotions build up as she was looking at her twin brother. Right next to him was his current girlfriend Lacy. Jenny threw the book on the floor. Her emotions were high and after everything she was done. The girl Lacy, stood right in his shadow with a smirk on her face. The sad thing about during these times, she's only ever had her brother to keep her afloat after everything however here he stood. His sister who's tried to warn her about his girlfriend vs the actual girlfriend.
Lacy's hair was dripping wet. Jenny wished that smirk would just come off of her face by now. Everyone was looking at them. They had everyone's attention and right now Jenny hated it. Jacob, her twin brother, looked at Jenny not saying or asking about anything that's happened. He only took her side. His anger was barley on the surface. However he did not know how angry Jenny felt. Although he felt angry, he was also confused but he didn't know which side to take. He didn't know anything really.
"You didn't even ask what led up to this or what happened before putting your anger on me" Jenny looked at her brother in the eyes "Your my twin brother yet you take everyone else's side but mine"
She turned looking at her things that were scattered everywhere. She walked over and started picking them up. Even the ones that she had lost because of Lacy. Jenny was tired of fighting a battle she knew she could not win. She was tired of supporting her brother when she really did get nothing from it but a hateful girlfriend from him. Jenny was tired of trying to be some good twin sister when she barely had a twin brother anymore. She missed the days when they were inseparable but after today, those days were gone for good.
"If you can pick someone else over someone who's been there for you since forever then maybe there is no hope for us to go back to the way things were. There's no reason I want to stay your twin" Jenny said, turning away to walk away.
Jacob felt himself lose the anger he had. He didn't even realize when it happened that he lost his sister. He couldn't even put it into his head at this moment. He assumed after all of this everything would go back to normal. He watched as his sister walked away. Not even thinking about the words she said.
After school, Jacob was at home. He stood by his sister's door. He didn't know what to do. He thought about what she said hours later.
"Jenny?" Jacob called out knocking on the bedroom door. After a few seconds he didn't hear anything. He pushed the door open hoping to see his sister. He looked at his sister to see blood everywhere. His eyes widened. He grabbed his phone from his pocket and called 9-1-1. Tears were streaming down his eyes. His heart was beating out of his chest. His sister was unconscious, not saying a word covered in blood.
"This is 9-1-1 operator, what's your emergency?" the operator said
"I need an ambulance right away. I just found my sister laying in blood" Jacob said
"I will send an ambulance right away but please stay on the line so I can help you"
"Okay"
"Can you check her plus?"
"How do you check a plus?" Jacob asked
"Hold up your index finger and your middle finger together. Place your fingers on her wrist right under the bone. Is there a plus? Can you feel beat?"
"Yes"
Jacob heard in the sirens in the background. He looked towards the door. After a few minutes an emetics came running inside with a gurney. They place his sister on the gurney very quickly.
"The Ambulance is here now" Jacob told the operator
"Okay be safe. The emetics should let you ride in there with them."
Jacob followed behind the people and got into the ambulance after he hung up the phone.
His heart felt like it could fall out of his chest. He didn't know what to do. Their parents were both out of the country and it was already hard enough to get a hold of them, however he had to. He dialed their number each three times, still he had no response. He sat in the waiting room. His legs were shaking. His hands. His heart was beating out of his chest. He was terrified. Tears were running down his face with the thought of his sister dying. He messed up big time today but he didn't want to lose his sister. He couldn't even put the thought through his own head without the need to puke. That was how worried he was. Earlier he figured that he could just talk to his sister about everything and things would go back to normal. He didn't think she would end up at the hospital. He doesn't even know what happened. All he remembered was that she was laying in her own blood. That thought alone made him sick.
His sister wasn't one to try to commit suicide. However thing as much as he could he barely even knew much about his sister to begin with. He hasn't even spoken to her within the last couple of weeks. Jacob placed his elbows on his legs and held his head in his hands.
The doctor came out after an hour. Jacob stood up hoping that his sister was okay.
"Is my sister okay?" He asked looking at the doctor who looking around the room
"Is her parents here?" the doctor asked Jacob
"No, our parents are out of the country right now working. Is she okay?"
"We found out the cause of the bleeding and ended up having to give her immediate surgery. She is stable now. However the cause was from an injury in her upper shoulder. It was a gunshot wound. Do you know how that happened?" The doctor asked
"No, I came home right after school to talk to my sister and found her basically bleeding out in her room. I don't know what happened before that" Jacob explained
"We'll she will have to stay overnight for at least two weeks" the doctor said and Jacob nodded looking at the hospital room. "You may go in but she is still unconscious right now. She wont wake up until after the medications ware off"
Jacob stood there as the doctor walked away. He stood there looking at the door. His sister laid there yet he couldn't even walk in there after they told him he could. He was worried all this time yet nothing. His body wasn't moving. He had no thoughts. He still didn't even know what happened earlier. He just knew that he did something he shouldn't get a second chance.
He should have listened yet even though he thought he didn't deserve one he still stood outside of the door. He looked through the window of the door to see his sister pale laying with cords everywhere. His hand touched the door handle yet that's all he could do at the moment. He took a deep breath and more parts of his hair out of his face, just for it to fall back down.
