Alice and Zirian sat down on the right side of Nathaniel's own chair. After a short speech, Nathaniel asked Zirian to walk up to the podium with him.
"People of The Stravos Empire and The Kingdom of Lucifina, hear me. I am Emperor Nathaniel Stravos X, my children and I will all sign this treaty, so that it is known we all acknowledge it's legitimacy!" Nathaniel signed his name.
The same was repeated by all of his children and his wife. Nathaniel XI the crowned prince, all the way to the youngest sibling, Charlotte. In total their were already fourteen signatures!
Zirian walked up and grabbed the ink pen. "I am King Zirian Lucifer, I sign this in honor of my mother, Satin Lucifer, and Johnathan Stravos III, King Stravos' older brother. They were both victims of our bloody conflicts. Let no more conflict claim the lives of any of our people! I sign this and acknowledge it's legitimacy!" He signed his name, handing the pen to Astris.
"I sign this treaty, for my fallen husband and son, who were also victims of our conflicts! I recognize it's legitimacy!" She signed, giving Damien the pen. "And I, Damien Lucifer II, sign in hopes for peace and order! I recognize it's legitimacy!" Finally, giving the pen to Alice, he nodded.
She didn't know she had to say something. Walking up to the paper, she sighed. "I am Alice Night! I sign in honor of all who have fallen in the bloody conflicts between our two nations, and I vow to never let it happen again! I acknowledge it's legitimacy!" With that, she signed the paper, finalizing what she said.
Laying down the pen, she walked back to her seat with a smile. Everyone's jaws were hung wide open at what she said.
"Why is everyone so dumbstruck by what I said?" She whispered to Zirian.
"You made a vow..." He said. He wasn't visibly shocked, but on the inside he was screaming. 'What the hell? Who even told her about vows? This is your fault, Zirian! You idiot!'
Emperor Stravos walked back up to the podium. "Ahem. That concludes the signing of the First Peacetime treaty between the humans and Demons in two thousand years! You've seen history made today! Do not forget it!" With that, everyone walked off the platform as the people dispersed.
Zach and Jason walked over to Alice, who had no idea why a vow had such a big impact.
Zach looked her in the eyes. "You have no idea what you just did, right?" Alive nodded. "I'll let your father tell you." He laughed a bit before walking away.
As everyone went to change into more casual clothing, Zirian knocked on Alice's door.
"Come in." She had just finished changing into a pair short and a shirt.
Zirian walked in and sat down in a chair he pulled to face her bed. "Sit down, daughter."
Alice walked over and plopped down in front of him. "Alice, you do not know what a vow like yours is for, especially during a treaty."
Alice looked at him funny. "Isn't it an unbreakable promise?"
Zirian shook his head. "You're only eight, but you're also genius, so I don't know how you didn't find out." He sighed deeply, like a disappointed father. Which he was. "A vow in treaty by a prince or princess is... well it's... uh..."
Alice was getting annoyed. 'This is the one thing I hate about being a kid, no one can tell you information without it being difficult. Even as a college student, it would still happen.' She almost got to the point of slapping Zirian before he spit it out.
"Okay... you set yourself up to marry someone from this empire, and the vow made it something that has to happen. This is not something anyone takes lightly, either. You must go through with it."
Alice's eyes looked like they lost all life in that moment. "What do you mean?"
Zirian sighed again. "When two countries sign a treaty, and someone makes a vow to make sure war between the two doesn't happen again... it's a vow through marriage. The way you put it at least."
Alice shook her head as she walked to her window, opening it. 'Maybe a fall from this height could kill me?'
- No -
- It is your choice to die with the ability 'Immortality' -
'Thanks, System. Damnit... am I just the princess from a novel or something?'
Zirian pulled her away from the window. "You've gotten pretty close to Zach and Jason, right? Maybe you could marry one of them?"
Alice shook her head. "I've known them for a few days, father! How could you say that?" She exclaimed.
He shrugged his shoulders. "You've got until your sixteen to think about it. Unless you find a way to start a war between us and break that treaty, which you better not, you have to marry someone from the imperial family."
"Thanks, father. Now I can look forward to turning sixteen..."
Zirian stood up and coughed. "I'll leave you alone for a while. I'll tell everyone you don't want to be disturbed."
The door shut and locked, while Alice just stood there. She looked up at the ceiling with a tear rolling down her face.
'Idiot.' She wiped her face and laid down. "So we have peace... I guess it's a good price to pay." She didn't really believe this, however.
Alice spent the next few days playing with Zach and Jason, as now Zirian and Emperor Stravos has to discuss her vow...
The day of departure came and Alice packed all of her stuff into her S-Ring, and hopped onto the Floating Castle. She immediately went to her room and locked the door. Zirian and Damien laughed a bit seeing her actions, but Astris was upset for some reason.
A boy and woman in black hoods watched from a the top of a church as the airship took off, heading for the Kingdom of Lucifina.
"Not going?" Mary asked the boy. "She is your target."
The boy shook his head. "No. She has to come back once she turns sixteen. In that time I can take assassinate smaller targets and hone my skill for the day. The Virtues do that, right?"
Mary nodded her head. "Abel, I think she is also going to get some training. I got info from our demonic brothers in white.
They say that the renowned Odis the Swordman will train her upon arrival."
Abel chuckled. "It'll be fine. She'll never see me coming." An evil smile radiating death formed on his face, but was replace but an innocent smile. They jumped into an alley, disappearing.
