A Headache

I entered my room being assisted by Shiki. He gently helps me on the bed and puts down the luggage he was carrying.

"Still hurts?" Shiki asked with a neutral tone.

"With all that just happened, how will my head NOT hurt?" I asked mockingly.

"Tell me what the HELL is happening?" I sat up pointing my finger towards him. "Just before I left Paris, you were nowhere to be found. And now you are in my house as my distant cousin. And to top it all of a fiancé candidate?! What is even happening?"

Shiki sat down by my bedside and started to massage my forehead. "Calm down or your headache will only get worse." Shiki said while pushing me to lie down. "For my identity, I thought that being near you will be the best option so that we can always plan all our actions. As for being your fiancé candidate, well your mom just decided on that when she saw me for the first time. I thought 'this will be interesting'." He had a smile on his face.

"And you just agreed?" I looked at him with scrutinizing eyes.

"Well I thought it would be fun. And seeing your ex-childhood friend's reaction earlier, it made me think I made a right decision." Shiki said with a smirk.

I have got a hang of his mood since being with him in Paris for a year. Shiki is a death god that deems humans as unimportant. He looks like a loner but in fact he just doesn't care for the human's day to day life. But sometimes he sees human emotions quite interesting.

Sometimes he becomes bored and the god of death becomes a god of mischief, playing with people's emotions as he pleases. But luckily he only does some tricks here and there and not doing any great harm. Just like what he did to Jeremy earlier, it pleases him to toy with Jeremy's emotions and irritate him even further.

"Don't tell me you are going to do mischief again?" I sighed in defeat. I cannot do anything if Shiki wants to play around sometimes.

"I just thought that he got what he deserves, after everything that what he did to you." Shiki looked at me seriously. I felt warmth in my chest after hearing his words.

"Ahh, I didn't know you care for me that much. Thank you." I teased him and giggled. "But isn't one of my missions getting to fall in love with me? Aren't you just blocking the mission from succeeding?" Well not like I have to do that mission any time soon.

"Don't you think some competition will make him regret his decision friend zoning you?" Shiki asked. "Well this was Eros' plan actually, having your parents search for suitable suitors for you."

"This was Eros' plan all along?" I remembered the handsome male god of love that I met back in Paris.

"Yep, he said he would help you right." Shiki replied.

Just thinking of those suitors that I haven't yet met just made my headache even worse. I closed my eyes and massaged my temples just to relieve the pain.

"Sleep." Shiki ordered me. I opened my and saw him looking straight at me. "You will need to rest first. Let's talk about your first mission after you have rested."

"Uh-hmm." I nodded in agreement.

I closed my eyes and felt Shiki massaging my forehead. "You don't need to take care of me you know." I said. I was actually quite embarrassed.

"Sleep." Shiki said in one word.

I sighed and do what he says. I can feel his hand gently massaging my head and the pain was starting to go away. I felt very drowsy in no time and gone to sleep.

**

The next time I open my eyes it was morning. I rub my eyes and look around my room. Sun light was coming in between the curtains. The room that I haven't seen for a year now was still the same. I was sure it was cleaned often with everything still in place.

Just when I was about to get up my cellphone rang. The caller ID showed that the call came from Krista. I accepted the call right away.

"Hello, Krista." I answered.

"Ana!" I hear the delightful voice of Krista over the phone. "Are you really back?!"

"Yes." I giggled. "How did you know? I was about to call you after breakfast."

"My brother told me." Krista replied.

"Chris did?" I asked. 'He was really good in gathering information.' I thought.

"Well it was Jeremy who told him." Krista said. "And he told me."

Then I remembered that Jeremy and Christopher were best of friends. They were sworn brothers ready to help each other out.

"Of course." I sighed just thinking about it.

In my past life, Christopher will enter politics like his old man while Jeremy will take over his parent's company. With Christopher's backing and Jeremy's vast amount of money, they became a power duo in this city. Jeremy's company ballooned to massive size and became a business empire of its own while my father's business empire crumbled down because of my villainess ways.

"Do you have anything planned today?" Krista asked.

I thought of my schedule today. "Well I only need to go to the campus university to finalize my coming back. I am enrolling to the architecture department." I replied.

"Great! Let's meet up in campus then." Krista said happily. "I will call Geraldine so that we can catch up after you are done in campus."

"Cool." I replied. "See you later then."

"Bye." Krista replied and ended the call.

'Knock knock' a knock came from my door.

"Who is it?" I asked.

"It's me dear." It was my mother's voice.

"Come in." I smiled after hearing her.

The door opened and my mother came inside the room.

"Good morning dear. How is your jet lag?" My mother asked worriedly.

"It's fine after getting some shut eye." I replied.

But it really was amazing that my jet lad went away after just a night of sleep. When I flew to Paris last year, my jet lag lasted for about two to three days.

"That's good." Mother gave me a kiss in the forehead. "Let's go down. Breakfast is ready."

"Okay." I smiled happily. It really is good to be home.
