I pulled on the campus' driveway and make my way to the student's parking area. Because the campus is on seasonal break, there were many vacant parking slots. I picked the one nearest to the building entrance and parked there.
Once parked, I turned off the engine and exited my car. Shiki followed and I locked the car after he exited.
"We're here." I said.
"Your campus here is quite big." Shiki said while looking at the surroundings.
The two of us make our way towards the entrance.
"Well this is one of the prestigious universities in the city. The campus is complete with gymnasium, swimming pool, and an oval court track and field. The science department also has all the necessary equipment in each field of study." I explained. "I would say that this university is a complete package is fully equipped with all the student's needs. The campus is also included in the top five university in the city and top fifty in the whole world." I boasted.
"Well that's really something." Shiki had a faint smile on his face while hearing me rant.
"I am not boasting or anything." I felt shy after realizing my ranting. "My father is one of the investors of this university. He believes that investing on young people's dreams is important for the future."
"Well I agree with uncle on that." Shiki replied.
We arrived at the gate entrance. To enter you will need to scan your school ID. I fish out my school ID inside my bag then thought if Shiki has his own ID as well.
"Oh, do you have a faculty ID?" I asked Shiki. Well he is to be a professor so he should have a faculty ID.
"I am here to get one." Shiki replied nonchalantly.
I looked at the guard sitting at the other side of the entrance.
"Excuse me, sir guard." I called to him.
When the guard looked at me he was surprised and stood up immediately.
"M-Ms. Berkin!" The guard called out in surprise. "It's been a long time."
"Yes, it has been a long time Taylor." I smiled.
The guard that greeted me was one of the oldies here in campus Mr. Taylor. Because my father is one of the investors, the guard in campus also know me.
"Did you lose your ID miss Ana?" The guard asked.
"Oh no, I have mine here." I showed him my ID card. "It's my… cousin. He is new here in the city and he is going to be a professor in the business department in the next semester. He is here to get his ID card in the administration office."
Taylor looked at Shiki who was beside me. He looked back and forth between the two of us that made me suspicious.
"Hehe, are you sure your cousins?" Taylor joked. "You two look good together." He teased.
"T-Taylor…" I scolded him but felt embarrassed being said that Shiki and I look good together. "H-He is a distant cousin of mine."
"Haha, like you said miss it's 'distant'." Taylor teased.
"I am candidate for her fiancé." Shiki interjected out of nowhere. I jabbed Shiki with my elbow after hearing his words.
"Not here." I whispered at him with irritation. The husband search is still not syncing into me and I don't want the whole campus to know it as well.
"Hahaha, well I am rooting for you sir." Taylor laughed whole heartedly. "Hey, open the gate." Taylor waved at another guard stationed inside the guard house.
The gate for visitors is electronically locked and the switch is found inside the guard house.
'Beep' the gate opened after.
"I will be escorting you to the administration office as protocol." Taylor said. "Hey, guard the entrance while I escort the miss and her cousin." The other guard nodded.
We walked inside the campus halls. The administration office is located at the administrative building at the east side of campus. I looked around and saw the familiar scenery from my past life. It felt so long since I have come back here.
"It's been a long time since I last saw the campus." I said nostalgically. "By the way, how is your son doing? He should be starting his freshman years here as a law student, correct?" I asked.
"Yes he just enrolled. Fortunately he passed the scholarship program here and as a long time employee here in the university, they waived the miscellaneous fees." Taylor replied.
"That's good to hear." I smiled.
"It's good to see you happy and energetic once again miss. The campus is different without you." Taylor said. "Your friends and especially Mister Jeremy seemed to be low spirited when you went away."
"Oh really?" I never thought I could hear news about Jeremy while I was away in Paris.
"Yes. I only heard some rumors but I guess Mister Jeremy was the reason you left. He really seemed to be not himself since you went away. But I will say, when you weren't here many bees were buzzing around him haha." Taylor laughed. "Especially that one named Angelika."
"Angelika you say?" I asked curiously. At last I heard some news about her.
"Yep, that girl that won the pageant that you also entered in your freshman year." Taylor said. "At first it was Jeremy that was running around courting her but when you went away the tables have been turned."
"You mean Angelika is courting Jeremy?" I asked in disbelief. "But I thought they were in a relationship when I left."
"Well you heard wrong miss." Taylor replied. "I also thought that they will end up together but it didn't happen. And until today Angelika still keeps chasing Jeremy."
My heart thumped rapidly after hearing this. I don't know if this news made my buried feelings for Jeremy resurface and become hopeful.
"Well here we are." Taylor said after we arrived in front of the administration office. "I will leave the two of you here then."
"Thank you Taylor." I said and waved goodbye at him.
"You know, he is one of your missions." Shiki said after we were alone.
"Who, Taylor?" I asked in disbelief. "But why, how?"
"Let's leave the details in the future." Shiki said while holding the door knob of the office. "Let's focus on one mission at a time."
I remembered that my first mission is to get Geraldine and Christopher together and nodded. It is best to focus on one mission at a time.
Shiki opened the door to the administration office and we went in.
