Chapter 4: A Dangerous Alliance

Seraphina's room was twice the size of her old bedroom, yet it felt more like a gilded cage than a sanctuary. As she sat by the window, watching the rain streak down the glass, her thoughts burned with one goal—retribution.

A soft knock pulled her from her thoughts. When she opened the door, she found Damien standing there, a folder in his hand.

"Information," he said simply.

She frowned. "On?"

"Your family. Their businesses. Their secrets. Their sins. If you want revenge, you'll need to know everything."

Suspicion curled inside her. "Why are you helping me?"

Damien stepped closer, voice low. "Because tearing them apart piece by piece is personal to me too."

As he handed her the folder, their fingers brushed, and for a moment, something electric passed between them—unspoken, charged.

Seraphina took the folder, eyes narrowing. "Fine. But don't expect me to trust you."

Damien smiled. "I don't need your trust, Seraphina. I need your fire."
