The three's emotions did not coincide. Bai Chen in embarrassment and confusion, Lucy in contempt, and Betsy in curiosity and amazement. Only Bai Chen felt the awkwardness of the whole situation.
"So, how are my customs?" Bai Chen changed the subject.
Barely meeting eye to eye- for Bai Chen, literally- the three started their talks of clothing... well except Lucy, she continued frowning towards Betsy. He didn't notice.
"Here they are." He passed over the well made clothing and designs. The pieces were stacked with their corresponding designs pinned to the front of each piece. Bai Chen held her hands out to receive the clothes.
Getting the heap of clothes placed in her hands, she didn't expect for them to be so heavy. She peeked over the high stack and with a voice that was muffled from the mountain of clothes, thanked him.
Lucy held her hands out and Bai Chen gave the clothe pile to her. The girl easily carried the pile and walked out to pay. Bai Chen said goodbye and started leaving as well. While walking out, Bai Chen closened in to Lucy and picked at the pile of clothing. She really wanted to see if everything came out right. If not, she could just remake it at home.
She had a soft side for people who complimented her, especially for her fashion skills.
Lucy stopped outside the carriage and let Bai Chen continue picking at the pile and looking through them, ruining the neat folded clothes in one swoop.
The smell of street food wafted into Bai Chen's nose and she stopped in her tracks. Bai Chen took the pile completely out of Lucy's hands and tossed them in the carriage.
She questioned stubbornly, "Lucy! Lucy! Do you have any spare money?" She was like an energetic puppy... and Lucy imagined a pair of dog ears and tail on her. A shaggy tail flicking from side to side endlessly. She looked over to the stores and took a purse out of her black skirt's pocket. "Here you are Miss." She put it in Bai Chen's hand.
"Yay!" Bai Chen rushed away at light speed. She zoomed off. Sonic could never compare.
Lucy quickly locked the carriage door and sent the coachman away. She knew her miss wouldn't be back soon.
Glancing back to the direction her Miss ran off into, Lucy strode away in search of her miss.
Bai Chen found it a lot easier to walk and run in her custom clothing. On either side of Ben's Tailoring store was vendors with different food. Bai Chen ran to the right since there was a few more stalls and restauarants to that side.
Reaching the first stall, she momentarily stopped her chase for delicacies and instead started roaming in search for which food piqued her tastes at that moment.
Realising that she didn't know what this currency and it's worth was, she moved to the side of the thoroughfare and stood beside a brick wall to search through this purse. Bai Chen had seen Lucy use it the last time they were out but the currency was all coins.
The coins were different colours. Inside the purse was three gold coins, eight light blue coins, and two red coins. Feeling their texture and looking at them, Bai Chen thought they were weird. It was skyblue metal. WHAt Metal is SKY BLUE!?? She had never seen it before. Maybe she had just never seen this metal in her past life? Maybe it was paint? Maybe its maybelline? Who knew?
Either way it didn't matter now. All that mattered was Bai Chen's need to feed herself.
It may have been one of her old habits from her past life but Bai Chen was worried about being scammed with her coins. Bai Chen was paranoid about giving a vendor a coin that was worth more han the food itself. She decided to see if she could find someone to ask about it.
"Hi! Excuse me?" She rushed up to a couple and assumably their child eating outside the cafe. However their response wasn't as inviting or polite as she was expecting it to be.
"Who are you!? What do you want? Hmph!" The tubby man who had a face that was red with anger asked.
"I'm Bai Chen." She used her 'fake' name.
