Cielle hadn't been paying attention to her surroundings, she was too caught up in her own problems. She acted confident when others were around but that's what it was, an act. She knew they feared her. That's why they avoided her. That's why she wasn't paying attention when he approached her.
She had gotten used to nobody speaking to her from the age of six when her family died and the village blamed her.
When she heard his voice the first time, she thought she was delusional. Why would anyone talk to her?
"Excuse me, miss?" She started to shake as she turned to look at him.
"I work at that store you were just in. My name is Samuel Asphurn. You?" He stated with a smile. Then he did something she never expected. He held out his hand.
"I- uh... I'm Cielle Uversia..." She replied looking down as she shook his hand.
"I see you've fallen for my trap! Now we're friends and you can never escape!" He smiled even brighter.
Frozen in place by his words, Cielle had no idea what to do or say. So, she just looked up into his blue eyes, searching for any trace of ridicule. Then she realised that his taste in fashion was wildly different from the other guys she had seen in this town. Other guys looked like they had chosen their clothes while blindfolded whereas Samuel also wore mostly black apart from an orange shirt under a black jacket.
"You like black...?" She asked while looking over his outfit again.
"Yeah, it goes well with my hair." His chocolate hair was very messy, it seemed to be about an inch and a half in length at the top but got shorter towards his neck. He had a fringe that stopped just above his eyes and it looked like before he left his house he brushed it and then messed it up again. "It seems you do too."
"It matches my hair." She smiled very slightly.
"So it does. Now that we're friends, we'll exchange adresses so we can hang out sometimes. I live at 7 Neebarac street so don't hesitate to visit. I'd be honoured to take you on a tour of the town sometime, I even know a bit of history about our lovely little town."
"I live in the old cottage on Redrum hill..."
What am I doing? He'll abandon me in the end like everyone else I knew... she thought.
