266. Hanako

Leo and Shinobu were curiously watching the floating woman beside the chubby man. She was waving her hand and saying something, trying to get his attention. But the man wasn't able to see or hear her.

"Excuse me."

Leo patted the man's shoulder and got his attention.

"What is it, sir?"

Leo smiled and asked, "Sir, do you believe in ghosts?"

Huh?

The man looked at Leo in confusion, "What do you mean?"

Leo pointed to the floating woman and said, "There is one floating next to you."

The man was stunned. He reflexively looked back, but saw nothing.

"Haha, that's a good joke, sir."

Letting out a hard laugh the man turned to face the door again.

Ding!

The elevator door opened. Leo and Shinobu got out. Before they left Leo said, "If you find anything unusual, find us."

The man smiled and nodded. However Leo sensed it was just a gesture.

When the elevator door closed the man mumbled, "Mental."

The got off at the top floor and reached his room. Taking off his suit he went to the sink and washed his face. When he raised his head and looked at the mirror he paused.

For a moment he saw a shadow standing next to him.

"I must be getting delusional."

Laughing to himself he cleaned himself and went to bed. When it was past midnight he woke up. Feeling a bit dry he reached out to grab the mug on top of the table next to the bed.

As he was drinking his eyes trailed off to the window. The glass reflected a shadow floating behind him.

Puu!!!

In shock he spewed out the water he drank. When he looked up again there was nothing.

The man was very rational. If it was just once then it could be related as coincidence but twice... then something was really next to him.

He shuddered and quickly flicked on the lights. Putting on some clean clothes he went out to the floor below where he left Leo and Shinobu.

It wasn't hard to find their room since there was only one in the entire floor.

Knock. Knock.

He knocked on the door. After a moment Leo opened the door. The man saw that he wasn't surprised to him.

"I'm sorry to disturb you at this hour, but... I...

Leo cut him off and said, "Come in."

"Thank you."

The man replied in kind and walked in. Leo poured him a glass of water and asked.

"You believe me now?"

The man replied sipped on the water and said, "I don't know. I don't believe in ghosts but I can't deny the fact that I did see something."

Leo smiled, "Let's start from the beginning. My name is Leo."

He held out his hand.

The man shook his hand and said, "Chojo."

Leo smiled. His eyes focused on the floating woman again. She was fairly beautiful with long black hair. She was looking at Leo excitedly.

"You can really see me!!"

Leo nodded, "What are you?"

The woman shook her head, "I don't know. I became like this after the accident."

"Accident?"

The woman nodded, "My name is Hanako. A few days ago I got into a car accident. This man drove the car."

Leo asked curiously, "That's why you are following him?"

Hanako shook her head, "No. It was really an accident. I was in a rush and didn't notice his car."

"Then why are you here?"

"Because of my son. I'm a single mother. After the accident this man gave a lot of money as compensation. However my relatives took the money for themselves. Right now, my son is being taken care of by an old couple who lives next to me. He is just three months old!"

Leo's eyes turned sharp.

Chojo watched as Leo spoke to a vacant piece of air in shock. Something really was there?

After listening to her story Leo retold it to Chojo. The man who seemed amicable turned frosty in an instant. He took out his phone and called someone.

"Find what happened to that woman and her child! If a single coin is missing from her treatment expenditure or that child's education, break those f*ckers limbs and have the authorities deal with them!"

Leo was surprised by how ruthless the man was. Then he thought of something and asked.

"She is still alive?"

Chojo nodded, "Her injuries were severe. The doctors said she was in a coma and they were unsure of when she would wake up."

"Bring her here."

At this moment Shinobu walked out. She sat beside Leo and continued.

"Take care of the discharge procedures and bring her here."

Chojo looked at Shinobu incredulously, "You can cure her?"

Shinobu smiled in reply.

Chojo hesitated for a moment before agreeing. For some reason he felt like this woman could do what she said.

Thanking them Chojo left. However the woman stayed behind.

Leo was very curious to this entity. From his spiritual sense he found an anomaly in the chain hanging from her chest.

The other end of the chain was broken. However space around the broken part was extremely stable. He used his spiritual sense to probe but couldn't bypass the spatial restrictions.

"Seems like this world isn't ordinary either."

Shinobu commented.

"Seems so."

...

When dawn broke Chojo visited again. Like Hanako said her relatives took the money and abandoned the kid and her. If he hadn't found out when he did...

Chojo was extremely grateful to this couple.

"I've shifted her to my apartment. Do you need me to prepare anything."

Shinobu nodded. She wrote down several herbs and their effects. They were in a different world so the names she knew might not be helpful.

Chojo was very efficient. By noon he had gathered everything she had written down.

Shinobu was now standing infront of Hanako's body. She was hooked upto a lot a machines. Her breathing was steady but there was no soul to it.

Shinobu placed her palm on her chest. Her 'Breath' poured out and spread through Hanako's body. Her broken bones, torn muscles and injured organs were enveloped by a warm glow.

Using her other hand Shinobu rubbed a few points on her body. This sped up the blood flow in her.

Under the nourishment of Shinobu's 'Breath' Hanako's body was starting to recover at incredible speed.

Leo and Chojo was waiting outside with Hanako. After waiting for a while Leo sensed something. He looked up and saw the chain hanging from her chest glow brightly.

Hanako's spirit started to glow as well. In a split second her body dispersed into countless dots of light and flew into the room.

Leo was marveled by this sight. He got up and entered the room. Chojo followed.

When they got inside they saw the dots of light merging with Hanako's body.

When the last speck of light disappeared Shinobu took back her hand. She let out a tired breath.

Leo walked to her and asked, "You ok?"

Shinobu smiled, "Just a bit drained."

She turned to Chojo and said, "She is fine now. However her body is extremely fatigued, it would take some time for her to recover her strength."

"It's fine. It's fine."

Chojo was grateful. He had hired some nurses to take care of Hanako, he had them remove the machines next to her and moved her to a much more comfortable bed.
