Dorothy was stunned; she never thought that Shadow was asking her to be his disciple.
"Wha-what? disciple?" Dorothy was still muddled, headed from Shadow.
"Yes, be my disciple. You have a great potential to be a great beastmaster. Please be my disciple. I will teach you a technique for contracting beasts."
Dorothy blanked out again. A Beast Taming Manual is what she always wanted since she was just a kid. She already had an innate fondness for beasts, and the beasts were likewise fond of her. She easily tamed beasts without any help.
"Really? You want to take me as your disciple?"
"Yes, but that means you have to know the secret techniques that I own, so you must swear loyalty to me."
Dorothy hesitated to swear to lose freedom, and she was a free-spirited girl. For her, it was a difficult decision to make.
Shadow nodded, knowing how heavy the choices were, so he told her to come to him when she already decided he would be staying at the guild too.
Shadow then bids goodbye to her and tells her again to find him if she has already made her decision. She also tells her dad their agreement.
After Shadow left, Dorothy was still sitting on the sofa, deep in thought, looking at her tamed beast. She was making a hard decision.
After leaving Dargon's room, Shadow then goes to the counter and books a room for himself. He then takes an A-Rank quest to kill time, and when he looks at the quest, he finds an interesting one.
Kill the Dragon Salamander that is attacking the town (A-Rank) (1000 gold coins).
Shadow then picks the mission and then asks the clerk, "Why is the enumeration so high in this mission?"
The clerk looked at Shadow with respect and said, Sir, you don't know that this beast that is attacking the town is a pinnacle GOLD LEVEL beast, and its grade is estimated at the legendary level at least, so there was a possibility that it is a mythic grade.
Shadow got it even though this quest is at the A-Rank. The difficulty of the quest is S-Rank.
"Why didn't the guild raise the quest rank and directly put it at S-Rank?" Shadow asks curiously.
"It is at the A-Rank because the Dragon Salamander is still under observation; if it is really at the Mythic Grade, we will raise the quest rank."
Shadow then nodded and told the clerk that he would take this mission. The clerk was surprised and warned him, "It is very dangerous to accept this quest, sir. I am not looking down on you after all, you have an A-Rank, but still, this mission is estimated to be S-Rank."
Shadow nodded and told the clerk not to worry; he had some hidden cards up to his sleeves. If he couldn't defeat the Dragon Salamander, he could just run away.
After Shadow left, the clerk called the guildmaster and told him what happened.
When the guildmaster heard the clerk, he just sighed sorrowfully, looking at the window. He was thinking, 'It seems that another sacrifice will be killed.' he sighed again.
When Shadow arrives at the town, it looks so desolate. Almost all the people fled; some were killed, while others just stayed there and hoped that someone would kill the damn beast.
Shadow entered and went to the town chief's place. When he got to the tower, he saw a wrinkly old man holding a terrified little girl. He also found some elderlies and teenagers within the tower; they are all lizard demi-humans.
(The difference between them and the lizardmen is that demi-humans have a human face and body with scales and tails; the lizardmen are all literally just beats that are more intelligent than ordinary beasts; they also walk on legs.)
"Hello, I am the mercenary who accepted the mission. My name is Shadow, and I am an A-Rank mercenary."
The town chief looked at Shadow and sorrowfully sighed. He said, "You should just go back; that beast can't be defeated by someone who hasn't reached Xiantian Realm."
After that, he looks at his granddaughter sadly and thinks that the heavens want to destroy their town.
"It's okay if I can't defeat the beast. I still have some tricks. I am not easy to kill."
Shadow and the chief argued for a long time, but with Shadow's resolute insistence, the chief gave up persuading the stubborn fool. Shadow then asked the usual whereabouts of the dragon lizard.
After getting the information, Shadow sets off to find the dragon lizard. After walking for a mile, he arrives at the dragon Salamander lair.
He carefully sneaks inside the cave.
When he got into the cave, he saw a huge salamander with wings sleeping.
Shadow was sure this was the Dragon Salamander. Even though it was sleeping, he felt that it was still on guard, so he scanned the huge lizard.

Shadow was shocked by the revelation; he never thought that the Dragon Salamander was actually a contracted beast.
After getting this information, Shadow immediately left the cave and returned to town. He wanted to know the deeper secret to this quest.
He arrives at the tower where the town chief stays and knocks. When the door was opened, the townspeople were surprised to see Shadow return without a scratch, and then they immediately thought that he saw the Dragon Salamander and knew that he could not defeat it, so he ran.
Thinking about this, the townspeople sighed and invited Shadow to come in. After all, they couldn't blame him; that beast was just too damn strong.
"I need to talk with your town chief." The others nodded and brought Shadow to the chief's study room. They informed the chief about Shadow.
When Shadow got inside, he saw the town chief sitting on his desk, looking depressed and desolate.
"So you met it, right? I know why you are here; don't worry, I don't blame you," the chief bitterly said.
