Surprise

"Chill Davis, it's T," Thomas said to Davis who was already in front of him, ready to knock him out, in the blink of an eye.

Looking around the room, his eyes fell on Dev and Ann in the cell, "...seems you have everything under control here." he continued with a slight smirk.

Dropping his fists from Thomas's temple, Davis looked behind him and saw an almost unconscious silvery guard being dragged in by Thomas.

When Ann saw S3 dragged in like a sack into the room, she almost peed on herself, but still held a little hope for the arrival of S6,

' Where is S6? He'll know what to do, I'm sure of it', she thought, holding her hands together.

As for Dev, seeing S3 being dragged in, didn't make him panic. S3 was good but he wasn't part of his elites, S6, 7 &8. He also held the same belief as Ann,

'S6 will soon get here and when he does, I'm going to make Davis pay!' he thought and he made sure to voice them out.

"Damian must have alerted my elites by now and they'd soon get here! So if you know what's good for you, release me this instant!", Davis yelled, feeling fully confident in himself.

'This guy obviously doesn't know the situation he's in.' Jeremy thought as he shook his head and sighed for the nth time today. He felt Dev's parents must have had a rough time in bringing him up. He for one, would have died of a heart attack, just looking at him now already makes his blood pressure rise.

"Do you mean the guy in the white lab coat I saw earlier? If he's the one you're talking about, then please forget about him. He's sstone-cold by now." Thomas chuckled, which made Dev feel like his whole world was tumbling down while Ann gulped, thinking Damian was dead.

Thomas who felt really pleased with his joke of comparing the unconscious Damian on the stone path to his 'stone cold' joke didn't know it was interpreted as him killing someone.

"Also Davis, about four kids aren't on Winters premises now, according to this silver guy, they escaped wearing silver shirts and it seems those three huge mutants are after them already. While Matéo is currently releasing everyone and sharing the weapons," Thomas reported while trying to keep S3 on his feet.

"What?", Jeremy asked surprised by the new development.

"I'm quite amazed myself, they actually aided in our escape. I could hear their voices when we were locked in, but not clearly." Thomas smiled remembering how the cards were left in the panel.

'Could it be?...I'm not sure.' Jeremy thought, comparing the kids he had in mind to the ones who could have actually carried out such a plan.

Glancing at Dev in the cell, Davis said, "I better find Penny alive and not deformed or else you'll suffer a fate worse than death itself."

Turning his back to head out, he paused,

"Oh and by the way, thanks for the useful information. Jeremy, have fun." Davis reminded Dev about all the secrets he sspilttoday before walking out of the room with Thomas and S3 in tow.

Leaving Jeremy to play with Dev and his scientist.

The room was suddenly quiet which allowed the sound of the howling wind outside to penetrate into the room, adding a scary vibe to it.

The silence made Ann and Dev feel like an hour had passed when in fact it wasn't even up to a minute.

Jeremy who had been quiet since Davis left, finally broke the silence, "You know Dev, if it weren't for the children that your guards kept hostage, you wouldn't last a minute here." he said, leaving the gate and walking towards the cell.

Dev had always hated it when Jeremy called him Albert but hearing him call Dev now, made him gulp.

He felt like he was talking to a manic version of Jeremy right now.

"Granted, you caught us off guard and killed many of our people too, I'll give you that." Jeremy continued walking towards them.

"But what I'm really curious about is what gave you the confidence to think you'll make it out of here alive? I could have easily destroyed this basement with just a finger and we'd have all perished here." he stopped and squatted looking at Dev who was kneeling on the floor, already sweating profusely.

Seeing his shirt soaked in sweat, Jeremy said, "Ah, I see you're already feeling the effects of the poison I gave you. My surprise gift." flashing a smile at Dev, he tossed and caught a broken white shirt button that was laced with an inconspicuous white liquid in his hands.

Staring at Jeremy's hands, Dev yelled, "Jeremy! What did you do to me?!" and shook his head, already feeling quite dizzy.

"Come on Dev, if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise anymore now, would it?" Jeremy asked still smiling and playing with the broken button.

"I injected it into your stomach, so you might feel some kind of way for a while. But not to worry, you'll see the surprise soon enough."

"And as for you, I left a gift for you as well but you'd need to get it from him." Jeremy said, shifting his gaze to Ann, who shivered at the thought of the type of gift he was talking about.

'Is it some kind of contagious disease?' she wondered.

After saying his piece, Jeremy sighed and stood up, walking back to the metal gate.

Stopping at the touchscreen panel that was to the right of the gate, he raised his hands towards it and said, "Know what it feels like to be the subject of a mutation experiment, Dev."

Tapping a button on the panel, he side-eyed both of them and left the room, leaving a departing remark with a wave of his hand,

"It's little I know but...Enjoy your gift."

And then the big metal door closed shut.
