Chapter 10 - The Work of God

Sun Wukong laughed at the sight of Bai Feng's panic, Bai Feng calmed his mind and angrily glared at the red monkey

"What now" said Bai Feng through gritted teeth

"Simple, step into the mirror"

"What?!!"

Sun Wukong rolled his eyes and said word by word "Step. Into. The. Glow"

"I know what you said but why" questioned Bai Feng

"Just step in and you will see" replied Sun Wukong

Bai Feng stared at the glow for a long time, before stepping towards the green light, just as he was about to step into it...

Sun Wukong screamed "WAIT!!"

Bai Feng turned around grumpily and said "What now"

"You should probably hide the mirror in a good place then step into it" when Sun Wukong finished saying this he dispersed his form and returned to Bai Feng's niwan

Bai Feng grumpily picked up the handle of the mirror and located a big bush to hide it under, he dug a hole under the push then placed the mirror in it. He then raised his foot and stepped into the glow, as soon as his foot touched the glow Bai Feng was sucked in by the green light into the copper

The next thing Bai Feng knew was that he was in a different scenery. His mind went blank as he stared at the scene before him 'So beautiful, this is what heaven should be'

A paradise unfolded before Bai Feng's eye. Everywhere he looked he could see nature, gigantic mountains surrounded him on each side. The mountains were brown with taints of green everywhere. At the summit puffy celestial clouds gathered.

The Mediterranean-blue and magical waterfalls could be seen swishing over the rocks joyfully. There were lakes surrounding each mountain and each of them were as silver as diamond and the atmosphere was convent quiet. Even the depths were vodka clear. It was soothing and yogi still.

Bai Feng realised that he was drooling, and suddenly awoke from his shock. He realised that he was standing on the bank of one of lakes, and the damp grass made him feel as if he was floating with every step. The moist atmosphere calmed his mind and heart with every breath. He Feng walked towards the lake and cupped his hands as he drank the water.

As soon as the water entered his mouth, Bai Feng shivered as he could feel all his fatigue and pains fade instantly, every part of his body started brimming with energy including his hair. He stared at this water before hungrily gulping more and more of it down into his throat, he felt as if he could drink forever, but he stopped himself, and started to explore the others small ponds that seemed to be everywhere, and around each pond objects seemed to be overflowing from the river and gather around the bank before he could investigate..

Sun Wukong appeared next to Bai Feng and said "It's been a long time since I have seen this", he then turned to Bai Feng "Amazing isn't it"

'Amazing is a bit of an understatement don't ya think, this is more like a work of god'

Sun Wukong rolled his eyes before saying "The Nature mirror is a mysterious and powerful ancient artifact created by the Dao of nature herself, the power and abilities it holds have been bound by layers of complex inscription pattern, with the outermost being the Spiritual Lock, which was a lock created automatically when the new owner of the mirror puts their mental mark on it.

But because my mental mark over the mirror was weakened because of my punishment, it began to fade over time and eventually disperse, allowing you to enter the mirror without passing through the spiritual lock.

"However if anyone tried to forcefully open the lock, it would stir up the rebound energy from those inscription patterns behind, causing a tremendous backlash. As you can see the inside of the mirror is a mountain range that extends for tens of thousands of miles, with slow flowing rivers around them."

"This painting is a private subsidiary realm that is filled with a rich amount of all types of energy as well as never ending quantities of spiritual herbs. It can nourish almost anything even including the spirit roots of spiritual ponds, elixir stones of elixir ponds and even the zodiac souls of zodiac lakes"

Spiritual ponds where bodies of water that contained Spirit roots. Spirit roots were miraculous organisms that could gather life and nature energy to nurture anything in its surroundings. It was mostly used to cultivate herbs or plants

Whereas Elixir ponds where magical ponds that were made from condensed mana. They could only be formed in areas with large concentrations of mana. Their main function was to produce Elixir stones which were just dense mana solidified into a stone shape. They contained pure mana and could be used for a myriad of reasons.

"The mirror of nature was the main factor that allowed me to quickly increase the strength of my monkey brothers exponentially"

Bai Feng listened to the monkey king's explanation which made him even more impressed and in awe of the prowess of the mirror. He then asked

"How do I place my mental mark on the mirror to make it mine and create a spiritual lock?"

"It's quite simple really, ever since your niwan was opened by me, it has been absorbing grade 1 mental energy, although the speed of absorption is slow, you have gathered enough mental energy to create a unique mark and attach it to the mirror" replied Sun Wukong

Although it answered his question, it just gave Bai Feng more questions to ask about mental energy

"How is mental energy graded"

Sun Wukong groaned before saying "Mental energy is a different type of energy that is supposedly formed from the thoughts and the will of all living things, they are graded from 1- 9 based on how potent and concentrated they are. When a person first unlocks their niwan, their only able to hold grade 1 mental energy, anything higher than that will destroy their mind as they can't handle it, so they train their niwan, by using various methods such as meditating until it is able to sense and absorb the next grade of mental energy.

Bai pondered about this for a moment and said to himself, 'If that's the case then it means being a cultivator is not the only means of having power nowadays, with the utilization of mental energy there's bound to be different ways to fight now like those so called saints, sigh… I guess at the moment I am truly just a frog in a well'

"Well enough chattering let's go look for your monkey brothers from your army" said Bai Feng

"Done"

"What do you mean done" questioned Bai Feng, he looked up to see Sun Wukong besides him grinning from ear to ear, and shivering uncontrollably, one of his trembling fingers were pointing right ahead of them

"A large group of people are headed this way… and they all seem to possess the aura of my Burning Sun Monkey tribe, which was the tribe I founded with my fellow brothers"

Bai Feng was shocked and looked towards the direction Sun Wukong pointed towards, sure enough, a group of silhouettes appeared out of a cluster of trees.

Sooner or later, the figures came into view, they were a weird bunch of people, from a distance they looked like orange bears but as they came close, you could see that they had the figure of humans but were quite tall, at least 2 metres. Everything about them was dark orange, both the women and men in the group had orange hair even their eyebrows were orange. Although they had cheeky faces that resembled a monkeys, the women were top-notch beauties that could cause the downfall of empires.

What also shocked Bai Feng was the fact that all of the figures had orange tails sprouting from their waist, it was this sight that made Bai Feng sure that these were the people Sun Wukong was looking for

In total there were around 100 or so humanoids headed his way and while they looked intimidating Bai Feng was surprised to find out that the strongest one within their group was only at the peak of the [Mortal realm], while over 20 of them had no cultivation whatsoever.

As they came closer, an imposing man from the group that seemed to be in his early twenties stepped in front of the group leading them towards Bai Feng, anyone could conclude from this that he was the leading figure of the party.

They stopped advancing when they were just 3 metres away from them and seemed to be analyzing Bai Feng with their orange eyes. They seemed to have realised that somebody was standing next to Bai Feng, and as soon as they looked towards Sun Wukong.
