Chapter 48: Nangong Xun's visit

Dongfang Mei did not know how Xi Muru and Nangong Xun's meeting went. She only heard that their conversation abruptly ended, and that they seemed to have ended the meeting shortly after only talking for a few minutes.

When Dongfang Mei went downstairs, she saw her son, Dongfang Jun, eating breakfast alone at the dining table.

She frowned and said, "Ah Jun, why haven't you left for school yet? What time is it now?"

"Mom, it's Saturday," Dongfang Jun answered.

Dongfang Jun put down his chopsticks and rolled his eyes at his mother.

He said, "Mom, how disoriented are you? You don't even know what day of the week it is."

His mother answered, "Brat, I'm not a student. How would I know what day of the week it is?"

Dongfang Mei's face turned slightly red. She felt like her son embarrassed her. Just as she was about to scold him again, Uncle Liu walked in.

"Miss, the CEO of Xi Group, Xi Yuancheng, and his daughter, Xi Muxue, and the CEO of Nangong Group, Nangong Xun, are here to pay a visit to CEO Dongfang Mo!"

Uncle Liu stood respectfully at the door of the hall as he waited for Dongfang Mei's response.

"Huh?"

Dongfang Mei was stunned. She was confused by the sudden visit.

"Then hurry up and invite him in. Why are you still standing there?" she said to Uncle Liu.

Uncle Liu quickly turned around and walked out of the door. Dongfang Mei glared at her son.

"Hurry up and call Second Uncle over!" she said to Dongfang Jun.

She looked at Ah Amin, who was standing at the side and preparing to serve her breakfast.

"Ah Amin, hurry up and go upstairs. Tell the eldest young master that he has guests," she said coldly.

Dongfang Mo had already heard the commotion downstairs. He had not yet gotten up because the woman in his arms had not woken up yet. The woman was snuggling in his arms like a kitten and sleeping soundly.

The sunlight from outside the window shone through the thick, light-colored floor-to-ceiling curtains. Specks of sunlight shone on Mu Ru's face, making her fair, small face appear exceptionally tranquil.

She was leaning against his chest and was impatiently rubbing her small face. Perhaps it was because he had slightly jerked his body upwards. She then hugged his waist tightly with both arms and continued to sleep soundly.

The corners of his mouth curled into a satisfied smile. She was often scared of him, like a mouse catching sight of a cat. She would not even dare to look at him.

At that moment, however, as she slept soundly in his arms, she did not look scared at all.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the bedroom door.

"Eldest Young Master, your aunt asked me to inform you that you have guests. They are here to see you."

"Got it," Dongfang Mo said.

He answered casually, but in his heart, he already knew what was going on.

When Xi Muru returned the previous day, he found it hard to believe that she was unable to secure the deal with Nangong Xun. He was confused because he and Nangong Xun had already settled everything online. Basically, the meeting with Mu Ru was simply a formality. He wondered what went wrong, so he sent someone to investigate on the matter.

If he hadn't, he would not have figured out what went wrong. He was shocked when he found out that Nangong Xun's name was Qin Xun. Five years ago, he proposed marriage to the Xi family. At that time, Xi Yuancheng had promised the Qin family that Qin Xun could marry his daughter, Xi Muru, whom he had never liked.

When Nangong Xun found out that Xi Muru was his wife, he must have felt uncomfortable.

Dongfang Mo wondered what Nangong Xun's intentions were. He knew that Xi Muru was ugly, so how could a person of his status insist on marrying someone like Mu Ru?
