Fall once again starts in Northern Japan, marking the first day of school. But painfully scorched memories have been etched into the world's minds of one of the worst moments in history earlier in the year, and all wondered if the schools should be open at all. You see the vilest humans known had unleashed what seemed like a never-ending barrage of attacks across the world at all the Hero and Government agencies. Which have kept peace around the world for generations. Even many schools for future heroes had been demolished in their agenda to gain control over as much land from the heroes as possible, in what they saw as their time to rule. With what was once a time of peace and tranquility has now become worldwide fear and panic. Several world corporations had also been taken over by the evil that now is rapidly consuming the planet. Though both sides had countless losses, the heroes lost most of their top protectors including the number one hero Exodious. Who's sacrifice will echo throughout the ages as one of the most important turning points in the war for absolute freedom. He protected millions when he selfishly infiltrated their main headquarters solo, and emitted a surge from his body causing it to explode out, making his body begin to breakdown in a brilliant and beautiful show of light as if the heavens themselves emerged from within him and cast judgement upon all those that surrounded him, in what was indeed hell. Since that day all the world has been fighting and pushing their borders into a unified collection to help strengthen what little forces they have left. Within one summer the entire world had been rewritten with new countries that have emerged from those that had been decimated. What used to be a world of many cultures and diversities has become a singularity of what remains of people clinging to survival. How will the future pan out now that the main security of the people has been broken down? It's time to see how the young heroes of today will take hold on their future, as they are now seen as the last hope for the good of humanity. To see this story transpire we follow a student and his fellow collogues he gains along the way at one of the last few specialized schools left for heroes of the future. It's the first day of school in northern Japan, as the south was taken over by evil organizations as well with most of North and South America, Europe, Russia, and Asia. Strongholds have prevented most attacks from overflowing into the new safe havens, but small groups are always causing problems from within. The new leaders who are now appointed claimed. "If we were to close the schools we will have given in to the enemy, and given up on our future all together, the sacrifice that Exodious, and many other heroes gave to us will not be in vain!" With that we now go to the first day of school, which will mark yet another historical event as students will be forced to battle to save not just their school, but their very lives.
A calm breeze gives travel for the leaves of fall, Keiler takes a look up out the window as they spiral from the family tree in the yard, a tree which has been growing since his family first built the home and moved in. It was planted as a remembrance of the unity from which his great great grandfather, an inventor who came from Germany for a business trip, and ended up staying for the love he found in a beautiful Japanese ecologist. He even modified his career to better fit their new life together. Since then, all marriages have been held under that tree for the next generation that inherits the land. His parents had both became heroes, which caused him to be at home alone a lot with a lovely neighbor named Carla, his mother's closest friend checking in on him. The tree causes pain for him now though as he is the only one left now in his family. His mother was killed protecting children one day on patrol, and shortly after that, his father went crazy after losing his beloved wife and began a life of killing all villains he came across. Which lead him to have his noted hero acknowledgment to be revoked by the heroes committee, as his bloodlust was getting out of control. When he had found information on the hideout of the one the stole his wife's life, he was getting ready to set out with no words, not even to his son who was begging him not to go and leave him. As Keiler latched to his father trying with all his strength to stop him, he was struck hard and fell to the floor. His father had never raised his voice before yet alone his hand at him. Now young Keiler lay on the floor looking up at the now unfamiliar man standing before him, lost for words, tears pouring out of his face. His father realizing how far he has fallen begins to shed tears as well that flood the floor just before he bolts out. With now yet another regret he left the life he knew and loved, for the chaos and darkness he was now lost in. Keiler now all alone, just a child, begins to cry even more uncontrollably before he curled up where he laid and passing out. A moment he will never be able to forget, he lost his mother and then his father had seemed to abandon him all due to one villains' action. He stands up and tries shaking the memories away and walks to the window to draw the curtain shut. He has been alone now for most of his life. Even in school he was deemed an outcast, and now even more so at the school for heroes due to he has no actual powers, yet was requested to join by the committee of top heroes after he was done with regular junior high. Hero training usually begins at the junior high level since most powers have been acquired by their early teens, and it's important to make sure they can control them. Carla has been the only there for him since she found him that day his father left, but now she's become very ill and can't fend for herself anymore. Each day he goes next door to check in on her, he learned to cook her favorite foods and reads to her every night as she used to do for him. He calls her mama Carla out of respect from all the mothering she's given him as if her own son. His mother's closest friend has now become his guardian, and he loves her as if she was truly his mother, the only person he remained connected with for years. He takes a walk out of his room towards the bathroom to clean up before he gets ready to go back to a school he doesn't even know why or how he was invited to in the first place. It's going to be his second year in, and he still hasn't displayed any signs of a power. He takes a seat in the shower letting it flow over him as he tries to fight off his constant mental despair. He turns off the hot water and lets the cold consume him for a while before he turns it off completely. As he is getting dressed, he realizes he's running late and won't make it to school on time. He starts to half-ass rush his morning routines before making his way to mama Carla's in order to make her breakfast, and help her prepare for the day while he is at school. The only time a smile emerges is when he's in her presence, for that alone makes her day wonderful and full of light she told him once. So since that day he has never shown anything but a vibrant smile when in her presence, as his love for her is all that has kept him going. He walks downstairs and grabs his bag from the table to head out. He makes his way to her house next door and unlocks it using his key and enters. He places his bag by the door and he walks upstairs to her room preparing his false smile to keep his promise to her, as he opens the door she is already sitting up and waiting for him with such a joyful smile.
"Good morning Sunny, how was your night." A name she gave to him as he is also her only sunshine and joy these days. "Good morning mama Carla, it was same as always, how about yours. Did you rest enough?" His face unlike his normal numb look was bright and glowing. "I am always resting dear." She said with a slight laughter. He walks towards her bed and they share a long hug like every morning. He helps her get dressed, and brings her downstairs to the kitchen table, putting her in the chair he had created with old parts of other machine wheelchairs that he found and were no longer fully operational, that the hospital would allow him to take. Making her daily life so much easier for when he is away, and even altering the entire first floor to make her life a little more enjoyable and letting her keep some self-reliance. As he is cooking, she realizes what day it is. "So today is the first day of school, if you don't hurry, you'll be late." He responds with a seemingly cunning remark. "It''s not as if it's a school for real education, it's mainly just training." She then says. "Regardless of what your learning there, its important for your future." He sighs slightly saying, "Yes mama Carla you are right. I'll be fine being a little late, we have a conference to start the year this time. It's to explain about what has happened since the incident, and what they have added to everything including new security accommodations." "That does sound like it's the most important part of the day, after your done can you please head out, I'll be ok till your back. First days are always important impressions." She exclaimed. "Ok, I'll cleanup quickly after so I'll be there by third bell which starts the conference, is that ok mama Carla?" "That's a fair compromise dear, make sure you make it, ok?" He turns toward her with a delicious meal and a smile replying, "anything to keep you happy." She puts her hand on his as he places the plate down. "You're the sweetest person being here for me all the time, your just as loving and caring as your mother was." A tear falls down her cheek, he wipes it away and says, "It's all because you were here for me, and never left." They share a loving moment before he turns back and cleans from the meal he had just made. "Just place your dishes in the sink, I'll take care of it when I come back after school." He walks towards her giving her a hug and a kiss on the forehead before heading out, just as his mother used to do for him before she would leave for the day. "Please be safe, I have a heart wrenching feeling that something might happen today, you know my intuition is strong, so please be on guard Sunny." He replies with, "you know I always am, and don't you hold back calling me if you need anything. I might have school, but you come first." With that they smile at each other as he heads towards the door and picks up his bag. As he leaves they exchange the last words of the morning like tradition in unison, "Always with love." He closes the door behind him, as he turns his smile slowly fades but not before making eye contact with a student from school who hasn't seen him smile since a child. "So you can smile after all." She had become an elegant, and beautifully grown childhood friend from which he has not spoken to since his mother was alive. Now a junior who had been on the news recently for holding off an attack on a residential area till heroes arrived, she had became a real noted hero and had been given a special training course over the summer to allow her to become one of the stand in student school security officials at the school. Her name is Jena. She is the daughter of one of the top heroes that is actively keeping the area safe. His smile had now completely faded, and has returned to the numb blank look everyone was used to. He walks to the gate as he leaves mama Carla's home, he turns to close it as Jena stands and waits.
He begins to walk down the street putting his hood on to lessen the chance she'll continue talking to him, which she ignored and began to speak anyways. "What were you doing there? I thought you lived in the house with the gorgeous tree in the yard?" He doesn't speak a word and keeps walking. She waits a little longer to see if he will respond but he continues to say nothing. "How was your summer? Have you been able to make progress with any powers yet?" Annoyed about being asked about powers he picks up pace. "Why is she talking to me now? No one has done anything but insult ridicule or bully me, and I haven't bothered to speak to anyone outside in years." He thinks to himself. She keeps pace with him. "Look I know you're a solitude person these days, but I'd like you to at least try and make some effort not to be so cold to everyone." He turns and gives her a look that makes her stop walking, as if piercing her heart with a dark curse which took the light from her. She begins to shed a tear and his look turns to confusion as he also stops. "What has happned to you, I miss how you used to be." She begins to sob a more. "Your smile that I just saw reminded me of our old days when we were kids, and I last say you make such a face. We have all been through a lot to you know, you're not the only one." Keiler's mind goes blank, he hasn't thought of times back then since he was living in those moments, yet alone how he used to be a regular kid. She still lives down the street and they were very close childhood friends. But after what happened with his mother and then his father, he cut all ties to anyone he knew, unintentionally. He tries to find something to say but nothing comes out, she looks at him wiping her tears away. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have bothered you." She starts to run past him and sprint to school, the one time someone was actually being kind to him after all these years, he ruins it, and with someone he used to know of all people. He looks back at his home to the tree in the yard for a moment, turns back and continues walking to school, now with a distraught look instead of his normal numb blank expression. "Will I ever be able to be normal again?" His thoughts turn darker than usual. "It doesn't matter anyways." As he keeps walking he tries to go back to not caring about anything before he reaches school. He realizes the time as the bell ring in the distance, looking at his phone he realizes it was the third bell. He looks up and begins to jog the rest of the way. "I must have been walking slower than I thought." As he reaches the school grounds he begins to walk again heading towards the auditorium. As he reaches for the door he pauses, taken a breath knowing this is the start of another horrible year with people who seem as cruel as the villains themselves. He lets out the long held breath and opens the door to walk inside, the principal noticing him walking in late as he was beginning his speech, calls him out saying, "It's nice of you to join us, please find a place to sit." Now even more annoyed with how the day is he notices Jena and an empty seat next to her. "Rather there than anywhere else." He murmurs to himself. She looks at him with a saddened expression on her face still, he takes a seat next to her as he looks into her eyes, she notices he seems regretful and less numb. She tries again to speak to him seeing this as possibly her last possible chance. "Glad you're here." He nods at her in acknowledgement. "At least your showing effort." He looks at her and she begins to smile a little and says, "Thank you." He turns a slight red and looks away towards the main stage where the principal is. "What was that I just did? Why would I blush, now what will she think?" She giggles to herself and looks at the stage as everyone begins to give their full attention.
"As you all may or may not know we have made some changes to the school and even its curriculum. For your safety is our main concern, just as in the future you will be doing the same for others, so to ensure that we must make sure everyone here is on the same understanding. We have increased the perimeter and also strengthened the structure of the building to add more defense from any possible attacks. Also, the new student school security is here to assist with protection until help arrives due to limits of how many heroes we have active now these days, including our staff at school. We have made several saferooms and also new tunnel systems for escape in case of the worst possible events. Regardless of this we hope you will still look at school as a place to learn and grow. Now I'd like to introduce you to your seniors this year who are going to be the leaders of student security and have been appointed as noted heroes in youth. So here they are, your 10 top youth heroes at this school, let's start with our locals you know and then introduce the new ones from around the world that have merged with us. Please remain silent until I have said the last name please as they walk from behind the stage. Healt...Corp...Meana...Connor...Mik...Kailen...Markus...Athena...Parks...Gorda. Please stand and applaud your senior security for they have been training very hard all summer with top heroes around the world to prepare them for their last year here as they become true heroes, if you have any concerns do not hesitate to let them know, even if it's something you're not sure is a problem as we are on a high alert this year. I will now hand the mic to the president of security, Professor Aims." He hands the mic to the professor before exiting the stage to handle other matters on campus. "Thank you Principal Morris, I only have one thing to say to you all, just because we have the student school security, you could end up in a predicament where they are not around, we do have automated alert system that lets the police and heroes nearby know immediate help is required, so if you truly think you're in danger and can't protect yourself please relay on this chart above me to know where the safe rooms are and other hidden passages to get to a secure location. Don't fight unless you have no other options, your focus is to retreat to a safe location. When you reach your homeroom you will be given a digital map of this as well with the name and numbers of your student security for emergency contact only. With that I would like to say welcome to school for heroes and may your future be bright, thank you." Everyone stands to applaud and welcome the new school year. As the students begin to exit and head for their homerooms Keiler and Jena sit and wait till the room is empty, he always waits to be last out anywhere in school to avoid possible confrontations with other students, though he is confused at why Jena is waiting as well. "What homeroom do you have," she asks. He pulls out his phone to check since he never looked and shows her the room number, it says room 321. She smiles and says, "looks like we are going to be in same homeroom, but wait I thought you were a Sophomore? Did you skip a year or something?" "Not that I'm aware of." He actually responds. She begins to get excited; she hasn't heard his voice in so many years, and it shows clear all over her face. Now she's staring at him hoping they can exchange more words. He looks at her trying to meet her gaze but it's too much and he grabs his bag quickly and begins to run off pushing through the crowd of students, she reaches for him but pulls back last second. "I've been waiting so long to talk to him again, I can wait a little more, after all we have the same homeroom this year, he can't avoid me anymore" She tries to ensure herself in thought. Jena grabs her bag and begins to exit with the rest of the students. As she makes her way to homeroom her best friend Gina calls out from behind her, "Jena! Jena wait up!" Jena turns around and she Gina running at her full sprint, then she leaps at her and gives a suffocating hug as they haven't seen each other in over a year, since school was closed early last year due to the war that broke the world. "Oh my god I missed you so much, I saw you on the news a few months ago, I can't believe you're a noted hero!" Jena smiles and says, "It was nothing at all, anyone would of done the same." "Such a modest hero you are." Gina wraps her arm around Jeans and continues as they walk down hall. "Oh what homeroom do you have? I hope we have the same again like last year, I heard they made it a lot different though, they extended the class for some reason as well." Jena laughs and says, "Aren't you full of energy, I'm in room 321, also Keiler will be there to, he spoke today." Gina stops in her tracks, "You got him to speak." "Yes indeed, though it was only one small sentence." Gina smiles and starts walking again, "Looks like all three of us will be in the same homeroom then, wait isn't he a sophomore? How is he in a junior homeroom?" "I'm not sure but it's what his schedule said." Jena exclaimed "Hmmmm odd, maybe that's a part of the updates they told us about." Gina says slightly confused. "I guess it is, we will know soon enough anyways." Jena points out as they near room 321. "I'm going to use the bathroom before I go in, I'll meet you in class, make sure you save me a seat next to you." Gina releases Jena's arm and begins to skip down the hall to the bathroom. As Jena makes her way into the class, she notices that there's even some seniors and freshman. "They mixed all the grades? How weird." She thinks out loud. Jena looks around the room to see if Keiler made it in yet but sees no sign of him, as she walks to find open seats she sees three in the back and goes to claim them for herself, Gina, and Keiler, knowing he would want the back corner away from everyone she makes claim to the three desks with her bag on one and books on the other while she sits in the middle of them. She glances around the room before starring long out the window at the birds flying by and the clear sky.
Gina see her spacing out and sneaks to the back behind her and scares Jena out of her trance. "What the… Gina… don't scare me like that." she laughs halfhearted. "Oh its ok to be brought to you senses by a startle once a while. So where's Keiler?" "He's not here yet, he must be waiting till last minute as usual." "Awe did you save him a seat to, how thoughtful of you." She teases Jena. "I figured he'd want to be in the back corner near the window, he likes his solitude, but still seems to enjoy the freedom of the outside." She smiles thinking about him being next to her all year. "You still in love with him, aren't you?" Jena turns bright red and begins to fidget with her hair trying to find a way to avoid answering. Suddenly the bells rings causing her to jump. Gina laughs and yet says the most reassuring words to her, "If he ever will have a thing for anyone, it'll be you, after all you're the only one he's acknowledged after all these years." She places her hand on her shoulder and they share a smile. "Alright everybody take your seats, we have a very important discussions to have and though this class is extended we barely have enough time to go over everything. My name is Mr.Dreghart, I was once a part of the of Heroes Government of America, as you may or may not know that agency was obliterated during the war and I am one of the only few remaining survivors, and I have your country to thank for saving mine and many others lives, so on that I'd like to extend my thanks to all of you by ensuring your futures are bright." He then bows to the class for a brief moment showing his sincerity and devotion, as he looks up, he notices two empty desks. "Seems we are missing two people today, not a good start for them." Jena looks at the empty desk next to her, just as Mr. Dreghart takes out his board to take attendance the classroom door slides open, and in the doorway stands Corp and Keiler. "Oh, have you decided to join us? Don't think just cause your part of student security you can be late or skip without being called for official duty Corp, you're still a student first, please take a seat. As for you…what's your name?" Keiler remains silent as he enters behind Corp. "Excuse me, could you respond please," Corp nudges Keiler to provoke him to answer, "Keiler" he says in a low monotone voice barely audible for even for the students near the door to hear. He meets eye contact with Jena, and she points to the seat next to her. "Go sit so we can continue here Keiler." He makes his way to the back but before that Corp whispers something in his ear, and Keiler nods. Jena and Gina exchange a look of utter confusion, when did he start talking to Corp they wondered, he even listened and responded to him. He continues his way to the seat that clearly was saved for him. He sits down and looks at Jena, he's relieved to have this spot. Jena whispers to him, "I hope that spot I saved for you is ok." He gives her a nod and says under his breath, "Thank you." He then turns and looks out the window. Though it was too quiet for her to hear fully, she knew what he said, and it filled her heart with joy to know she could help him even if it was just a place to sit.
As Mr. Dreghart was going to take attendance, he takes a moment to look around the room, by now everyone had noticed that he only used one arm for everything, but no one was going to ask about it as they all had figured it was from the war. He then looks at the first row and points to the student closet to the door, "starting with you and going down the line I want each of you to stand up, state your name, grade, and why you're in this school, please begin." The first student stands up, "My name is Sid, I am a freshman, and I'm here to learn how to be a hero." He takes his seat and the next students begins, "Hello everyone, my names Cloei, I am a Junior, and I'm here to enhance my powers and knowledge of being a hero." It's as if everyone was going to say the same thing with just a different name and grade. Now on the second row someone finally stood out. "Hi everyone, my name is Teal, I'm a freshman, and I'm he to ensure I nev…" he pauses for a moment as he looks down briefly. "I never lose the courage to save someone in need ever again!" He shouts as he wipes tears from his face, he sits down everyone's eyes on him still. A long pause goes on before the next student jumps up realizing its her turn. "Morning everyone, my name is Keisha, I am a Sophomore, and I am here to…." she pauses trying to find words to say without sounding too cliché, "I am here to learn new abilities and help ensure the future of heroes." The next few students sound like the first few, nothing stands out with them in the sense of why they're here, after all isn't that why they are all there? Suddenly it falls on Corp to talk, "Hello everyone, as you probably know already my name is Corp, I am a senior, and I am attending this school to protect all that I love and cherish in this world. I'd also like to add if anyone has questions or just need someone to speak with, please don't hesitate to come to me, I am here for you." He ends with a bow before he takes his seat. Keiler knowing he is last still doesn't know what to say, after all it's not like he has powers like the rest of them, so how can he even compare. He continues to look out the window in a daze, moments pass before he snaps out of a trance starring at clouds when Gina stands and knocks her leg against desk. The class laughs a little as Gina is known for her klutziness', she rubs her leg where she hit the desk as Jena picks her book up for her, "Hello everyone!" She starts in a vibrant cheerful mood. "My name is Gina, and I am a junior here at his wonderful school, I originally came her to just learn how to become a better hero, but now I continue here to help others see their full potential and am also writing a book on all the value of the heart when it comes to using your powers since mana flows differently with the sway of emotions. I have spent all summer study with many hero committee scientists who have been looking into the concept and origin of powers, I would love to talk to all of you and learn more about each of you and your unique abilities, thank you." Jena looks stunned at how much she's changed since last year; the goofy childlike mentality is now learning and training on one of the most challenging known mysteries we have come to know. Gina smiles at Jena, "surprised you didn't I." "Very much so, I'm so excited for you and a bit jealous, ha-ha."
As Jena stands to take her turn, Keiler gives his full attention to the room for the first time since class started. "Hi hi fellow students, my name is Jena, I am a junior, and the reason I attend this school is because I see a bright future in all of you around me, and I am honored to share this amazing experience and grow with you all." She glances at Keiler and smiles at him before taken her seat. He realizes he doesn't know how long he's been looking at her and starts turning red and puts his head back down. His mind races, "why do I keep doing that, I haven't so much as looked up for years, why am I doing this now?" His thoughts paralyze him. "Ahh, Keiler, you the last one, would you please stand and speak to your fellow classmates." Mr. Dreghart asked nicely, realizing there's something off with him compared to everyone else here. Keiler starts to stand but keeps his head down, he pauses for a moment before quietly trying to speak to the room. "I am… My nam…" he freezes up and starts to feel his heart pound as his thoughts continue to race, "no one has ever cared about anything I am, why should I bother even telling these people anything at all." He begins to ball his fist, and Jena realizes he might try running out of the room like he did the auditorium this morning. Before he can reach for his bag, he feels a hand on his arm, he looks over and Jena is looking at him with such an encouraging smile. He then sees a flashback of when they were kids and when he used to freeze up or hide away for any reason, she'd always be next to him smiling and encouraging him. She sees the corner of his mouth almost go to a smile before he looks up. "Is everything ok" asked, the teacher. He looks around at the room and does his best to speak clearly. "I'm fine," he says as Jena pulls away," He mouths a small "thank you" to Jena before he looks at Corp who nods at him with a smile and gives a thumbs up. Suddenly his posture straightens and he seems a different person. "I am called Keiler, I'm a second-year sophomore, and the reason why I am here…" he pauses for a moment unsure what he should say, "I am here because…I…I was invited by the committee of heroes." Knowing that his answer will most likely cause more rumors and problems to go around, but it is the only reason he is there, after all he can't say what everyone else did as it won't apply to him, he has no actual power. One the students makes a remark, "really, that's why you're here, only cause your invited, maybe you should have said to fill empty space or actually learn how to use a power, hahahahaha." Keiler looks down and begins to return to his original slouched despaired look. Jena glares at Mack who made the crude comment as if she was going to consume his soul. A few more kids start laughing, and join in picking on him as if he's just a prop made to be a joke for them.
Just as Mr. Dreghart was about to say something Corp smashes his hands on the desk and jumps up, causing the room to jump and go to a dead silence. "How dare you call yourself heroes of the future!" he yells as he walks to the front of the class and turns to them. Mr. Dreghart walks to his desk and takes a seat. "letting Corp handle this situation is probably the best," he thinks to himself. He nods at Corp letting him know he has control of the room. Mr. Dreghart takes a glance at Keiler who hasn't moved and doesn't even seem to be anything more than a statue at this moment. He notices Jena looks upset as well over the insults made on Keiler. "How dare you mock anyone who is here to join us in securing a future for all the world, your crudeness is unacceptable and even more so to your fellow student of heroes, you have no clue about peoples pasts or what drives them especially when you clearly have no intent on making an effort to learn anything about them. You who act like this have a lot more to learn than becoming a hero!" Corp makes a fist as his anger is clear to the room. Mack stands up and points at Keiler and begins shouting, "How can a powerless hack ever become a hero, all he'd can do is die for nothing and save no one!" Suddenly Keiler bolts to the door and slams it open. Corp calls to him, "Wait Keiler! Don't give into the negativity!" But Keiler keeps going and makes a dash down hall towards the stairs and makes his way to the roof. "See he can't even handle the truth, he doesn't belong here." Jena upset begins to sob and jumps up, "SHUT THE HELL UP MACK! YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HIM!" Realizing how things look now she grabs her bag and Keiler's who left it in the room and makes her way to the door, before leaving she turns to Mack and says, "You're the one here who can't become a hero, not Keiler." She slams the door shut behind her and makes her way down the hall. Mack tries to yell out, "what the hell would you kno…" Corp snaps a death glare at Mack and says, "don't you speak another word Mack, and during combat training today, your all mine. Prepare to been trained into the ground." Corp turns at Mr. Dreghart, "please excuse this incident and allow me to retrieve them." Mr. Dreghart stands up and looks at Mack, "are you satisfied with your outburst young Mack, what have you gained from this? Do you think you're some kind of pro hero? Tell me this, were you invited to this school?" Mack remains silent crossing his arms as he returns to sitting. "Answer the question." "No, I wasn't," he snaps. "Then clearly you lack something they saw in him, regardless if someone has powers or not doesn't prevent them from saving lives or being recognized as heroes." Suddenly Mr. Dreghart takes off his robe, exposing his critical injury to the class proving he is indeed missing his left arm and shoulder. "Answer this, am I not a hero? I have no powers, I'm a simple human with no special abilities of any sort. Yet I helped save hundreds of people during the war and took a hit to save a nearby hero who was already holding back enemies as people were escaping." The class in awe and moved by his speech, some begin to shed tears of this touching story in his past. "You said those with no powers can't be heroes, or save anyone right? So what am I?" Mack is stunned silent and doesn't know what to say or do now. "Let me add something to what Corp said," he places his hand on Corps shoulder. "If you have no intent on learning someone's past, intents, or what drives them, then you have no right criticizing them either." He looks at Corp and asks him, "take your seat please, thank you for standing up for your fellow peers." "But what about Keiler and Jena?" he asks. "I'll ignore this today due to the circumstances, let them cool off." With that Mr.Dreghart takes his hand of his shoulder and places his robe back on. "I hope this has given you all something to think about as you learn what becoming a true hero means, we will now continue with class as we were."
Jena standing at the stairs not knowing which way he went begins to get flustered, "why do people have to make his life more difficult, can't they see he's already in pain every day." she hold his bag close to her body, she can smell his scent, something she hasn't been able to do since he became so distant. Suddenly she hears a bang from above her and immediately begins to run up the stairs to the roof access. She swings open the door and darts her head around trying to find where he is. She walks out and sees him sitting on the corner ledge towards the sun looking up. She slowly walks towards him, quietly as to now startle him, and sits against the wall next to him, not knowing what to say to help she looks up at him silent. Hoping just being near would give him some comfort, nearly fifteen minutes go by as they sit in silence. He reaches for his pockets for his phone not realizing he left it in is bag back at homeroom. He lets out a sigh of annoyance knowing he can't very well walk in and get it. Suddenly realizing he is looking something he doesn't have on him she gently tugs on the side of his shirt. He looks down as if he knew she was there already, she lifts up his bag to him he reaches down and takes it and pulls out his phone, no calls or messages. Jena stands up and notices his background, it's a picture of his mother with mama Carla, back when they were young. "That's a beautiful picture, how is Carla these days." He closes his phone and puts it away, "she's…She's doing alright." He murmured. "So that's why you were leaving the house next door to yours, I had forgotten she lived there, it's nice to know you haven't been alone all these years." Feeling a bit of relief, she begins to smile a little. "Mama Carla was always there for me, it's only right that I am there for her." Jena giggles, "that's such a cute nickname, and does she have on for you?" He begins to speak before cutting himself of realizing he doesn't know why he's sharing this info. "She calls me Sunny, because she said when she sees me smile it…" she puts her hand on his as she sits next to him facing opposite way. "It what," she smiles at him. He continues to say, "when she sees me smile it lights up her darkened world." He meets her gaze and begins to get lost in her eyes again as they sparkle in the light. He starts to turn red again but can't move this time, he's completely frozen. She tightens her grip on his hand, leans in a kisses him on the cheek. "I've missed you, we used to be so close as kids." she sheds a tear but with a smile this time. Still frozen he begins to remember the times they had that he had forgotten with her, all the laughs they used to share before he lost his mother and his father went crazy. He snaps back to reality and pulls his had away, "I'm sorry if I've cause you pain Jena, I really didn't mean to push you away." she lights up as this is the most they've talked and the first time she heard him say her name in so many years. "Can, can you say my name again?" He looks at her dumbfounded. "Oh ahh forget I said that." she turns red and jumps up from sitting on the ledge. Keiler turns around and stands up having her turn around. He wraps his arms around her and whispers in her ear, "thank you Jena, you've always been such a kind person. He pulls back reaching down to hold her hands and continues to say, "can you forgive me for my heartlessness over the years." Lost for words she begins to smile and cry uncontrollably. "I've never saw you as heartless, and there's nothing I need to forgive you for as you haven't done anything wrong." A breeze role's by and suddenly he begins to show a small smile, birds are chirping nearby, he hasn't felt this type of feeling of bliss before. Suddenly the bell rings and they both jump, his face returns to a blank expression. "I can see why mama Carla calls you Sunny, you can light up anyone's darkness with that smile." She keeps one hand on his as she pulls him to the stairs, "come, we should get going now." He doesn't let her hand go, in fact he slightly tightens his grip, her hand is so warm and gentle, somehow it seems to help calm his unsteady mind and heart. As the head back down stairs he stops when he sees all the students in the hall, as if they were all sharks and him just their prey. She turns to him seeing that he is beginning to turn back to his state of darkness, his grip starts to loosen but she refuses to let his hand go. "Don't think about them, I'm not letting you get away from me again." She smiles and starts to drag him downstairs. He finally stops fighting her and puts on his hood to lessen the view around him, slightly behind her all he can see is her framed by the sides of his hood. Out of nowhere Gina pops out and jumps at Jena causing her to lose grip on his hand. "Got you." Gina shouts laughing. "Be easy with me Gina," Jena laughs back. Gina suddenly notices Keiler, she turns to him and says. "Don't you let that Mack douche talk to you like that again, do you hear me young man? As she points at him with a stern look. "Gina pleas…" Suddenly Keiler looks up and responds with, "But he's right you know…I'm nothing, I have no powers, I can't become a hero." Jena stands stunned that he's talking so much today. Gina raises her hands above her and yells as loud as she can causing the halls to go silent for a moment. "ANYONE CAN BECOME A HERO!" His face turns shocked and lost as he remembers something his mother use to say that he had forgotten. "What is a hero anyways? Just remember that anyone can become one." His mother's smile begins to appear and her shadowed face from the memories he pushed away becomes clear and overflow within him. "That's right son, everyone has potential of becoming a hero, it's what's in your heart, never forget that." His father continued. His parents look at each other with such love. Keiler then grabs his head as he feels it is about to explode. Tears he's been fighting back so hard and so long begin to overflow and he loses all control as he falls to his knees clenching his head tighter as all his repressed memories and feelings begin to overpower him. Jena and Gina reach for him, trying to catch him before he falls anymore. Then suddenly passes out and Jena tries to shake him awake, she begins to yell at him over and over frantically trying to wake him up. "KEILER! KEILER PLEASE WAKE UP! WHATS WRONG PLEASE, WAKE UP!" Gina yells for help, "SOMEONE GET THE NURSE, PLEASE HURRY!" As they both try to pick him up, suddenly his body becomes light as air to them. Corp was nearby and heard the commotion he ran over when he saw Keiler falling, he picks him up and starts rushing down the hall yelling to everyone, "Make room! Out of the way!" Jena and Gina trail behind him. Gina feeling as if it's all her fault starts to cry, "I…I didn't mean to upset him…I just wanted him to know he has people on his side." She wipes her tears away as they continue to run to the nurse's office. Mack notices Corp carrying someone in the adjacent hall to him and then sees Jena and Gina following. His face turns pale white as he hears Jena yell "Please be ok Keiler!" He freezes and drops his phone from checking his messages. "Is that…because of what I said…did he do something because of me?" Macks friend reaches down, picks up the phone and puts it against Macks chest. "You alright there Mack?" "Huh, o yea I'm… I'm good. Just a lot on my mind today Josh." "If you say so, I'll see you in class." Josh waves as he keeps walking. Mack closes his phone and puts it away while he starts to walk sluggishly to the bathroom. Corp arrives outside of the nurse's office and call's out for assistance. "Nurse! Nurse Kelly are you here?" She pops out of one of the curtains where a student is trying to rest, "Keep it dow…" She notices the unconscious student in his arms, and points to an open bed to lay him on. As he places Keiler on the bed Jena and Gina make it to the doorway, Gina out of breath pulls her hands against her chest as the guilt begins to swell within her. "What happened?" Asked Nurse Kelly. He turns to the girls in hopes they could answer why he passed out. "Does he have any known medical conditions?" Nurse Kelly trying to get any info as possible. "We don't know what happened, he just grabbed his head and began to fall and cry hysterically before passing out." Jena wept through her tears. "He must have had a mental breakdown, as bad as that seems it's nothing to much worry about. Once he comes to we can better help him. Lets hope it was just from being overwhelmed. I'll take care of him, you all head to class, I'll write you a note in case your late. He just needs rest for now." Jena asks nurse Kelly, "can I please stay here till he's awake, please?" She tries to hold back her tears. "You can't miss class, we don't know how long he will be out for either, he's going to be alright I promise you." Nurse Kelly calmly explains, seeing that won't be enough she adds, "If you like I'll call you down when he wakes up, is that a fair." "Me to please, I feel like it's my fault." Gina weeps. "I'll call all three of you, ok, now takes these and go to class." The three of them bow to her in thanks before they walk out of the room to their next class just as the bell rings. Nurse Kelly grabs an ice pack from the freezer and wraps it with a cloth before placing on Keiler's head to counter the overheating. She starts to close his curtain as she hears him talking in his sleep, "Come back, please don't leave me, I don't want to be alone, please don't go." With that she leaves it open just enough so when he wakes up, he will see her. Hearing those words, she couldn't close it all the way. "That does seem to support that he had a breakdown and its nothing to serious." She thinks aloud under her breath. She goes to her desk and opens student files on her computer searching for Keiler's folder. When she opens it to see if they have something on him that could help explain this situation better, she notices his chart shows he doesn't even have emergency contacts nor any info on his powers which was mandatory from what she recalls. "This can't be right, it's as if he…" she pauses remembering what he said just a moment ago. She picks up the phone and calls down to office thinking they must not have filed it yet for some reason. "Yes nurse Kelly," secretary Morgan answers. "Yes, hi, umm, I have a student here who passed out but when I opened his file there's practically no info here, no contacts, not even what his power is, can you search the hard files down there, someone must have not added it yet or something." "Of Course Kelly, what's the Students name." Morgan asks "His name is Keiler Eten Yeller." Nurse Kelly doing her best to sound it out. "Ok just give me a moment please, I'll look right now." Morgan gets up from her desk and walks to the filing cabinet, she opens the bottom draw where the Y's are, as she fingers through the files, she finds his name, but when she pulls it out all that's in there is one sheet. She walks to her desk and takes nurse Kelly off hold, "Hello Miss Kelly?" "Yes, I'm still here." she responds "I don't know what to say, his files bare, there's no real info here either, no contacts, no power is listed, all that's here is his address." Morgan confused adds after, "Let me call you back I'm going to ask Principal Morris about this." "Thank you Morgan, I appreciate it, real quick can I get the address please." "Of course, here it is." When she finishes the address they both hang up at same time as they communicate so often. Nurse Kelly looks over at him in awe, "why is there no info on you young Keiler." Suddenly the last name reminds her of something, she opens the browser and types in Yeller, and the first thing she sees is an article about a Mrs. Yeller who was a hero, once she clicks on it and opens she realizes something tragic, headline says. "Hero sacrifices herself in order to save children from a villainous rampage." She searches for a full name in order to look into it more, then she notices a side article dated a few months after. "Top hero Mr. Yeller has been dismissed from the heroes committee of japan over loss of sanity." She covers her mouth, "he looks just like them." She glances over at him before looking back at the screen and begins to look into their names and anything else she can find, she types in the bar "heroes Mr. and Mrs. Yeller." A picture pops up that catches her attention with them both in front of a house standing together in a what looks like a wedding picture, she clicks the link attached to it. It opens up and she skims through till she sees the words, "A tradition passed through a well-known local family line, this lovely couple has finalized their bond and married under their family tree to become the next in line to inherit this enchanting home on…" She checks the address Morgan gave her and things start to make more sense, there a match. Suddenly the phone rings startling her, she see its Morgan calling her back, she picks it up. "Yes Morgan, did you get anything from principal Morris?" "Well, when I went to his office and showed him the file to asked if he knew anything about why it was so empty compared to the rest of the students, all he said was don't worry about it. I told him about what happened and why I was looking for info and he jumped up. Then said again not to worry about it and had me leave his office and he has to go handle something that came up. He walked out a moment ago and I don't know where he is." Suddenly over Nurse Kellys shoulder Principal Morris says right in her other ear, "Doing some homework I see." Nurse Kelly startled drops the phone, she frantically picks it back up and she sees Morris put a finger over his lips letting her know to not say that he is there. "I..I got to go Morgan, thank you for looking for me." She hangs up promptly with Morgan who was confused but could figure what just happened. "Don't scare me like that." Kelly exclaimed at him. He asks where Keiler is and she points to the slightly open curtain, "Even keeping an eye on him to." Morris teases her. "If you heard what he said you would have done the same thing." He walks over to Keiler and removes the icepack from his head before placing a hand on it and the other over his heart. He looks at Nurse Kelly and says, "You didn't see this, got it? And I was never here?" she nods at him and gets up to get a better view of what she's not suppose to be seeing. Morris's hands begin to emit a light and it starts to casts over Keiler's body. He stands back up and looks at Miss Kelly, "he will be up any minute, remember though, I was never here," and with that he walks out of the nurse's office and goes back to his regular routine. Nurse Kelly looks down at Keiler, she reaches down to feel his head, it's cool to the touch. Suddenly he begins to start moving and his eyes open with a hazy look. Then he jumps up to a sitting position, he looks around before he sees Nurse Kelly standing before him. "Glad to see your awake young Keiler, are you ok?" He places his hand on his head and then his chest. "Morris was here, wasn't he." He stares at her waiting for an answer, though her face gave away all he needed to know. Before she can give a response, he stands up, grabs his bag, and starts to walk out. "Wait Keiler, you can't just leave yet, I need to make sure you're going to be ok before dismissing you back to class." He looks back at her and adds. "You must not know very much about the principal if you think I need any more help." With that he walks out of the room to the halls and looks both ways before taking a left, it's like he was tracking where Morris had gone. Stunned and lost Nurse Kelly returns to her desk and looks at her computer, she notices something in one of the wedding pictures, her face drops in disbelief. One of the pictures has Principal Morris standing with Mr. Yeller, she reads the small print under it. "Here we have Mr. Yeller standing with his best man Mr. Morris." She leans back in her chair, things that started to make sense all of sudden had her stump and wanting to know more. She leans forward and continues to look for more info to fill the gaps and have a better understanding. Keiler takes a pause at each hall intersection before picking a direction. He finally catches up to Principal Morris and walks up to him at a vending machine, Morris reaches down and takes out two drinks, turns around and tosses one at Keiler. "I guess telling her not to say anything didn't matter." "You should know by now you can't hide from me anymore." Morris laughs and says, "Can't blame me for trying right, got to keep you on your toes." With that Morris goes to walk past him and places his hand on his head. "Don't lose faith, you will always have people who care for you, try to use that heart of yours more." Morris walks off and goes to return to the office, "Oh and please tell Carla when you see her today that I say hi and send my blessings." Morris turns the corner and leaves Keiler's sight, he looks down at the drink he was given, his favorite. "I didn't think he'd remember something so trivial about me," he thinks to himself back when Morris used to come visit his father, he'd always bring this to him every time. Keiler opens the bottle and begins to take a sip before walking to the class he was supposed to be in, before he reaches the room, he checks his phone. Three messages from unknown numbers, he opens them one at a time, not used to ever having any. First one reads, "Hey this is Corp, message me back when you read this, please forgive me for getting your number without your permission, and also giving it to Jena and Gina. I felt it was important for those to have it as well. Feel better buddy." and the end it has a Thumbs up icon next to his signature. Keiler thinks to himself as he leans against the wall, taking another sip from his drink. "Seems I'm not going to be able to ignore this guy this year." He closes it out and opens the next one, "Hey this is Gina, I need to say I'm so so sorry, it feels like it was my fault and I need to talk to you, please come find me when you're up and better." Her icon shows a cat next to her signature. "Does she really blame herself." He thinks to himself not quite getting her message. He closes hers and opens the last one, but pauses a moment before he does. Now sitting on the floor in the hallway near the class he is missing, he clicks on the last message. "Hey Keiler, its Jena. Corp sent me your number and told me to message you. I wanted to stay with you but wasn't able to, please forgive me. I hope you wake up soon I'm very worried about you. Please let me know when you're up and meet with me ok? Remember what I said to you on the stairs, I mean it, I'm not letting you feel alone again." as he finishes her message, he looks at her icon and name, a heart stands next to her signature. After closing her message he decides to add their names, a weird and new feeling for him as he never had anyone's number except mama Clara's. After adding them to his phone he puts it away and finishes his drink before standing up. He turns to his classroom door and goes to reach and open it. Then the bell rings just as he touches to handle, he stops, takes a step back and leans back against the wall placing his hood on. Students begin to rush out of the room and he just keeps his head down waiting for them all to leave. He feels a nudge on his arm, he looks up and sees Corp. "Glad to see you up and well bud, did you get my message?" Keiler responds with a nod, "I hope it was ok to do that and also give it to those two." "Yea its ok, you were the one who carried me right? Thank you." Corp puts a hand behind his head and says, "Yea that was me, Jena and Gina looked to be having trouble getting you up so I kinda took control. Did the nurse or girls let you know?" "No." Keiler says as he turns to fully face him. "Well wait then how did you know it was me?" "I have my ways." Keiler now throwing Corp off, "Did I miss anything important in this class?" "No we mostly just talked and got to know each other. The teacher here seems to care more about bonds than anything." "Good to know, glad I missed it. I'm going to head to my next class now, I should go to at least one today." Corp nods in agreeance and says, "That would be for the better, so far we have two classes together. Oh, by the way, when everyone's doing their combat training…" He pauses for a moment thinking he shouldn't ask but does anyways. "What are you going to be doing?" "Keiler opens his schedule to see what classes he has. His eyes notice something he doesn't get. Corp leans over to see what he's looking at and notices that he will be in his combat training class as well. "Look at that, you will be with me for my favorite class ever." He hits Keiler on the shoulder and places it on him and laughs. "This has to be a mistake." Keiler's arms fall to his side. "What's the matter? Don't you want to learn that stuff?" Keiler puts his phone away and looks up at Corp brushing his arm off, "You wouldn't understand." Keiler turns and begins to walk to his next class. Corp scratches his head before turning around, "I guess I'll find out when we start the class." Keiler with his hands in his pockets fells his phone vibrate, he takes it out in a flash thinking its mama Carla calling, when he looks down he sees its Jena. He pauses before deciding to answer it. "Hel..hello" he stutters. Not used to so answering for anyone. "OOO THANK GOD YOUR OK!" The volume all the way up almost making him go deaf, he turns it down before hearing her continue. "The nurse was supposed to let us know when you were up but when I went to check in, she said you had run off without even a note for class. Where are you?" "I'm on my way to my next class." "Well after this class is break, so can we meet up least say, over near odd tree next to the fountain?" "Yea, I'll meet you there." "You better not forget, also if you see Gina can you please talk to her, she's been upset ever since you passed out, she feels as if it was all her fault." Keiler thinks to himself for a moment, "Maybe I should just tell them, after all it's not like they are going to be leaving me alone." "Isn't she going to be there with you at break?" he asks. "I'm not sure why?" "Have her be there to, I'll, I'll explain what happened then, I got to go though, I'm at class." "Ok I'll let her know, we will see you then, bye bye Keiler." "Bye Jena." They both hang up and immediately Jena messages Gina the details. Keiler walks into his next class and first person he notices is Mack, who looks down the moment their eyes meet. Keiler walks in and goes to sit in the back, but someone is in the back corner already. He looks at them for a moment and decides to just take the seat in front of her, she looks up as he sits down. She realizes he was in her homeroom, and remembered she saw Jena save a seat for him, she thought it was just to sit together but now curious she taps him on the shoulder. He turns slightly only showing half his face to her as she begins to talk. "Would you prefer to sit here?" He turns more not sure he heard her right, now looking right at her. She asks again, "Would you prefer to sit here?" He nods and says, "please if I could." She smiles and gathers he things and moves to the desk on the right, he gets up and moves back to a more comfortable location. Even though it's one seat, it helps ease his nerves to be there. She looks over at him and wondering if she should try talking. "My name is Jewels, your Keiler right?" He looks over at her and nods his head. Not wanting to cause any discomfort she smiles at him and goes back to her drawing. He looks down at what she's working on. "Wow that's some impressive work," he thinks to himself. She takes a peek and sees he's looking at her art, she moves a little letting him see easier as she continues before class starts. She working on a project for after school activities, it's a picture of the top heroes from the war and on the front of it all is Exodious. Her attention to details is astounding as she has no references in front of her and it's almost as if she has everything about them memorized, their unique hair styles, colors, even thier costumes seemed to be made without fail. As Keiler lay mesmerized by the art next being created next to him, Teal enters the room, as he looks around he spots a few seats left open. Sitting near Markus is not an option to him, as what happen in homeroom made him unsettled, and feels he could be next to be lashed out as he doesn't feel he's that different from Keiler overall. He walks to the back and sits in front of Keiler where he had moved from due to the kindness of Jewels. He takes a look back at what Keiler is so interested in and sees the drawing. Without a thought he blurts out. "Wow that's so amazing, it's almost they are going to jump out of the paper!" Not realizing he was louder than needed to be he catches some peoples attention nearby and now several students are learing over he desk. She looks up and says. "Really it's nothing special, just how my ability works." "Wait this is due to your power?" Asked Teal. "Yes, I have learned how to channel my mana flow into artwork, my power allows me to memorize anything I see and or hear, like a file system I can pull up anything I know and make it into something." She continues, "My mother was a real artist, she could do things like this without a power." "Either way that is still amazing, you haven't even erased once since we have been watching." Another student points out. "Well when I've been practicing this for a while now and have learned a few tricks since." Feeling ackward now at all the attention she begins to put her art supplies away. "Power or not, that is amazing, could I ask you to draw me something sometime? I'd even pay you for your time." Teal asks excited. "I'd love to, though I don't think I could accept money for it. I feel that would violate some rules, as I am using my power and can't and shouldn't profit from its use." She pointed out a valid reason, but he then makes another offer. "Then let me bring you a lunch tomorrow, I am a legitimate cook you know. I work at my Uncles restaurant." He points at himself with his thumb all proud. "I can't say no to a delicious meal, it's a deal. We can hangout at break tomorrow and I'll draw it for you then." She smiles at him delightfully." The bell rings and the standing students take their seats. Teal turns around and notices the teacher still isn't in the room yet. "The teachers late, should we haggle them." He says jokingly. Suddenly he walks in and right behind him is an assistant. The teacher looks at everyone and says. "All of you follow me outside, I am not a typical teacher and I can't give my all here in this small room." Confused the students begin to gather their items. "No, leave everything here unless you use items with your abilities." Keiler seeing this may yet be another class pointless to him keep his bag on. "Maybe I can sneak away on the way down." He thinks to himself. The teacher then looks right at him as if he read his thoughts. "You as well Keiler." Jewel looks over at him before she grabs her art supplies. She nods at him to join. Teal not being very wise about things possibly being insensitive to others but having a massive heart says. "And don't worry about Markus, if he tries to be an ass again, I'll beat his for you." He laughs as he continues out the room. The assistant waits for everyone to leave before closing the door and follows behind. "Seems we have eyes on us to ensure we stay in class." Teal says to Keiler and Jewels before looking forward after seeing the assistant behind them. She is a quiet and short person, with a very monotone look to her. She lays her hands crossed over one another in front of her, her walk is as if she's a robot with no extra movements, her gaze is blank and almost empty. As they reach downstairs the teacher props the door open for everyone to walk outside. They gather in a semi half circle all facing the teacher and assistant. "Hello class, my name is Professor Quartz, and this is my partner Professor Quam. We are going to be learning everything we need to about you all today through a direct battle between pairs of you against us. I already was given permission to teach this class as I choose so don't think you're going to find a way out of this. We already know all of your names and your powers, the key to this is to see what each of you can do when in a disadvantage, and how much you can learn and salvage what you have in a moment's notice. I already have made pairs for you, though you do have an odd number in this class, one of you will be going in solo." He looks at Keiler when the remark is made. "Now I'd like the following students to pair up and make some distance as to not get or interfere, I will call up the pairs one at a time, till then stay your distance, watch and learn." The students break off into their pairs and just as Keiler expected, he is solo. "Keiler, since your solo I will give you the choice. Will you go first, or last?" He looks up annoyed as he has ever been, every class he has been singled out today. "Last." He say's, a slight anger showing in his voice. "Very well, just as I thought." Professor Quartz says as he nods to him. "And don't think you can wander off either just cause we're busy with the others." He calls the first pair to come up, it's Markus and another student named Heather. Everyone goes silent and Jewels who was paired with Teal walk over to keep Keiler company as they watch the battle about to start. "We will begin when you have signaled you're ready." They look at each other and nod before looking back at the Professors. Markus and Heather dash towards them at full sprint and split to each take each one head on. Just as Markus is about to land a blow to Professor Quartz, Professor Quam disappears from Heathers view and delivers a high kick under his jaw launching him in the air. Heather dashes towards Quam to try and head her off faster than last time but Quartz appears between them and catches her leg with ease, he then jumps in the air and launches her down onto Markus sending them both into the ground. In a flash the first battle is already over, the students look at each other in amazement. "Next pair please step forward." They return to their casual stances next to each other a few feet apart. It continues like this over and over for each pair, not one landing a single blow, or able to block or avoid a single attack. "Now it falls on Jewels and Teal, who have both been watching inventively, she whispers something to Teal before the walk over to begin their trial at this fearsome duo. "Ready!?" Teal asks. "Ready!" Jewel shouts. Teal pounds both hands into the ground and creates a shield over them out of the earth he has manipulated, the ground shakes hard and the professors are slightly stunned, they hold their ground awaiting to see what the two students have planned. Suddenly rock hands grab hold of Quam and Jewels launches at her from behind, landing the first blow on them all class. Quam unable to move her legs is pulled part way underground making her immobile. As Jewels clears over her after deliver the hit, Quam grabs her leg as it is about to leave contact and hurls her to the ground. Suddenly the ground disappears where she is about to hit, and Teal catches her before shielding themselves again, completely submersed in the ground once more. Quam pulls her arms to her side and gives a discharge from her body causing a quake to begin around her, loosening the land and pops up landing on solid surface. The students begin to cheer in support of their amazing team work. Then both Quartz and Quam leap into the air and each pull an arm to their side, a radiance of power begins to build in each of them. At once they launch to the ground with a mighty impact, on each side of where they detected the students to be and cause the ground to explode upward, launching both Teal and Jewels into the air. The professors then leap towards them in a unison, as they both are about to make contact, he launches Jewels towards the other students and takes both hits himself. He falls to the ground as Markus leaps up and catches Jewels before she could hit the ground. As the professor's land next to Teal who made a heroic last move. They both bow to him and Quartz says. "That's how a hero moves without thinking. Well done Teal and Jewels, not only did you land a hit, you even saved a fellow comrade from defeat by taking yourself, ensuring information will be given to the heroes who arrive on scene." Jewel pushes Markus away, but still thanks him for catching her. She rushes over to help up Teal. 'You didn't have to do that." She says helping him up. He responds. "I didn't think, I just reacted seeing that we were both about to be hit, and tried to get you away from it. We both can't be defeated, right?" He says as they share a smile. "You both surprised us, you as well Markus. You went in even though there was never an incentive for you to." Keiler looks at the battered ground and hopes he doesn't have to fight due to the damage. As he is finishing his thought, Quartz looks at him and say's. "This doesn't mean you're not up." Keiler's face turns slightly confused before he realizes something and then blanks his mind. Professor Quartz looks over and sees the custodian who was watching the battle himself and asks him. "Would you mind helping us Jack, we all went a little overboard." Jack begins to walk over with a joyful look. "Absolutely, I'd love to. It was an impressive battle." He looks over at Teal and Jewels. "You two should feel very proud at what you accomplished." He places his hands on the ground and closes his eyes, power begins to flow out and across the battered land as it begins to repair. The students look in amazement as it returns to how it was before they ever started. Teal looks over at Jack and asks. "Can you also manipulate the earth?" Excited to find another person like him. "Not at all dear boy, my power comes to being able to repair anything I touch. So long as it is in a certain time frame." "Ohh." Teal looking slightly disappointed at his response. Jack walks over to him and says. "Just think of this, you can control earth right? Why not look into what is made from the earth as well. We are only limited by our own veil placed before us." "Suddenly Teal begins to feel an overwhelming feeling of motivation inside of him, he never once thought of if he could manipulate what came from the earth as a possibility for his power. He looks at Jack with a glowing face and says. "Thank you, thank you so much for helping me find a new way to grow." He pulls softly away from Jewel and bows to Jack. Jack smiles and says. "Anything to help my students to excel." With that Jack walks back to where he was to continue watching the remainder of class. Professor Quartz and Quam return to their places and call up Keiler who is the final one to participate. Keiler looks at Quartz with a look asking if he really has to. They stare for a while before Keiler finally gives in and walks up to get ready for battle. He takes a moment and a few breaths before he looks up. All the students look hesitantly at Keiler wondering if he will be ok. Markus tunes in more intently than everyone there, remembering what he said in class now with regret. He was beat in a flash and now Keiler who was powerless was about to go up against them solo. Some students had been watching out the window especially during when Teal and Jewel make such a commotion. Jena's eyes were shocked when she saw Keiler was up next and her heart began to rush in anticipation. All eyes on him he holds his stance, calmly. "Whenever you're ready Keiler." "I am ready." He claims, yet not moving or even taking a stance. Several seconds pass as nobody makes a move. Then suddenly Quam launches forward at Keiler in full momentum, she leaps and goes to drop a right heel kick from above. Just as she is to make contact, he turns to the side on her right facing her and just dodges her attack. She immediately swings her left leg over for a swing hit at his head and he ducks just in time. As her right foot lands down and she has full contact with the ground she begins to unleash a barrage of strikes at him, steadily increasing her speed. He continues to dodge every one of them as they barley skim past. She takes a leap back and they pause for a moment. The students stand in disbelief at what is going on. He not once went for a block or a hit, he just swayed between each of her hits as if choreographed in a scene of a movie. Markus in a stunned silence takes a few steps forward to get a closer look. Jena had jumped out of her seat and screamed. "Go Keiler go!" The teacher and students of her class are now all in the window watching now as well. The fight pauses for a moment while Quartz asks Keiler. "Why don't you try striking a hit or attempt to block? Don't you think your taking my partner to lightly." Keiler doesn't speak or change his persona in the slightest. "Let's see how you handle this young Keiler." Suddenly Quam takes her original position and Quartz make a dash at Keiler. He goes to give a powerful strike straight on hoping he will try to do more than dodge, as he unleashes the powerful strike, Keiler takes hops sideways avoiding the attack which sends a burst of energy towards the fountain behind him splitting it. Just as Keiler gets his footing Quam had launched from behind Quartz and delivers a blow to Keiler's chest, he is barely able to put his right arm up to block and is send into the severed fountain. Jena covers her mouth and begins to cry out, she had never seen him fight yet alone be attacked. Water gushes from the ground and begins to cover and surround him as it hits upon his head. Giving him no time to think Quam lay over him and delivers a kick straight towards his chest again. He closes his eyes, and feels a warm and new sparking feeling overcome him from within. Unlike the last hits he dodged or even her blast to his chest, it's as if she was going to kill him this time. Just as she is about to make contact, he opens his eye's and sees the flow her of mana and also where and how much she is concentrating it. Suddenly he sends his left hand up towards her heel open, and as she makes contact, he lets out a surge of mana from his hand towards her attack and ends up sending out more than she had went to deliver. A massive shockwave emerges from them and Quam is sent flying into the air, Quartz leaps and catches Quam before she could land. Her leg had been broken from the burst of energy. He places her down and rushes over to see if Keiler is ok. The fountain now lay in shambles, as Quartz arrives near Keiler, he sees him smiling before he lay unconscious. He had finally done something in his life other than avoidance in his life, his right arm was also broken from taking the hit from Quam. The students rush over to see if he is ok, in the distance Jena is in the window, her hands against the glass and see's the smile on his face. "You did it, you finally did it Keiler." Tears of joy flow from her as she rushes out of the classroom and heads downstairs to go check on him. Markus had turned away from the class as he also began to shed a few tears over this event. The person he had called a waste of space, just all in one moment seemed to surpass him. He didn't know if his feelings were of hatred, or joy for him. Quartz picks up Keiler and begins to walk to the nurse's office. Teal and Jewel offered to help Quam but she had refused and started to gimp towards the office herself. Jack cuts her off and with no words kneels down and puts his hand out asking for her leg. She raises it up and places it into his hands, he radiates an aura around her damaged leg and it starts to heal. Cracks are heard as it's as if he reversed her injury to before the fight. Teal looks over in amazement when she places it down and taps it against the ground. She bows to Jack in thanks, and he returns one back. Teal can't believe it, Jack looks at him and begins to say. "Like I said before we are only limited by our thoughts and veils placed by ourselves. Jena bursts outside and rushes to Keiler who is being held by Quarts. She sees he still has a smile as he remains unconscious in his arms. He looks at her and says. "He is going to be fine Jena, he has made the first step in accepting himself today, part of that is due to you." "How do you know my name? What do you mean I had a part in this?" She asks confused. "You will see in time young Jena, why don't you come with me, I am bringing him to the nurse's office." She nods wiping her remaining tears away. "The rest of you follow Professor Quam to the class. She will hand you your assignments for tonight."
