Chapter 078: You're as kind as she is

"Brother Xiangdong, how are you? Are you hurt?" Qi Chuyan quickly retreated from the embrace. She wanted to examine his wound, but he grabbed her.

"I'm fine. You drive. We have to find Su Mianmian as soon as possible."

Qi Chuyan sniffed and nodded. "Yes."

Lu Xiangdong had been shot in the waist. Now, his entire body felt numb, and he didn't have any strength.

He didn't know where Su Mianmian had gone, but he knew that she hadn't been captured by Li Mingzhe's men. Or at least he hoped.

He said uneasily to Qi Chuyan, "Drive faster."

Qi Chuyan increased her speed to the maximum. She couldn't go any faster.

"Brother Xiangdong, don't worry too much. She should be around here. You rest first, I'll look for her."

He nodded weakly.

After Su Mianmian had escaped from the banquet, she hadn't gone their way at all. In fact, she had ran to another road.

She didn't know where she was either and she was very confused. Lu Xiangdong's words had hurt her, and she didn't want to see him now. She didn't want to go back to where she used to live.

She did not know if it was because she had been tied up or because she had not eaten, but Su Mianmian felt very weak. She staggered and fainted on the road.

When a mercedes-benz passed by her, the car suddenly stopped. The car door opened, and a person squatted down and patted her face. He called out softly, "Miss? Miss? Are you okay?"

Su Mianmian looked at that face as though it were sunlight. She felt as if she was in a dream. A silly smile appeared on the corner of her mouth, and then she fainted again.

A dazzling ray of sunlight poured in from the window. Su Mianmian turned over in the bed, its uncomfortable mattress forced her to wake from her sleep.

Perhaps she had slept for too long, but she felt sore all over. She smoothed her messy hair and sat up from the bed in a daze.

Where was this place? Why was there the sound of the sea? She got off the bed and walked over to the window. She looked at the endless blue sea, and her eyes were full of shock and surprise.

The door suddenly opened, and someone walked in.

She looked at the stranger and her eyes widened in shock again. He was so handsome!

"You're awake? Did you sleep well last night?" The man was dressed in comfortable clothes, and he walked towards her with breakfast. He placed the breakfast on the table and gave her a smile as warm as the sun.

Su Mianmian came back to her senses after a long time. She pointed at him and asked, "Who are you? Where am I?"

Ouyang Que walked behind her, looked at the sea outside, and smiled faintly.

"My name is Ouyang Que. Yesterday, I saw you pass out on the road, so I brought you to my villa. You are now in my private villa."

After confirming that the handsome man in front of her was not a bad person, Su Mianmian heaved a sigh of relief.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome. You haven't eaten breakfast yet. I've prepared some corn porridge. Eat it while it's still hot."

Su Mianmian nodded. She really had met a noble and super handsome man.

As she ate breakfast, she secretly glanced at him.

He suddenly smiled and asked, "I forgot to ask your name."

"My name is Su Mianmian."

"Oh." He smiled, picked up a newspaper, and started reading.

Su Mianmian's gaze turned to the outside of the window. Not only was the scenery here beautiful, but more importantly, if she could stay here, Lu Xiangdong wouldn't be able to find her.

She took a deep breath and asked him, "Can I stay here and help you with your work? I'm homeless now. I just want to have a place to stay."

Ouyang Que put down the newspaper in his hand and looked at her with hesitation in his eyes. She quickly explained, "I just saw a lot of flowers outside your villa. I can help you mow the grass. As long as you don't let me cook, I'll do anything."

He put down the newspaper in silence and walked towards the door.

"Are you sure you want to stay? I think with your looks and talent, it's more suitable for you to find a stable job to support yourself." He was telling her the truth. It was not that he did not want her to live here, but he knew this wouldn't be right for her.

Su Mianmian had already decided that she would quit her job at the NEPC International Airlines after she returned. She didn't want to see Lu Xiangdong anymore.

"Then please give me a week. I need to adjust myself. I'll leave here after a week." She thought that a week's time should be enough for her to get back on her feet.

Ouyang Que smiled and said, "Sure, but I don't stay here often. I come here occasionally for a few days. So there's nothing to eat here. If you want to eat, you have to go down the mountain to buy something. If you think that's okay, then stay."

"Okay, I've already troubled you enough by staying here. How could I ask you to go down the mountain to buy something?"

"I didn't mean that."

"You don't have to explain. I understand. You're a good person." Su Mianmian felt that he was a very warm person from the first time she saw him.

Ouyang Que thought that she didn't look like a homeless woman at all. But he was more curious about why she had fainted on the road.

"The weather outside is very good today. You should go out for a walk. There's an island ahead. It's quite interesting," he suggested before leaving.

Su Mianmian looked outside. The scenery here was indeed good. As he said, there was an island ahead.

Su Mianmian walked along the sea. From afar, she saw Ouyang Que sitting on a wooden bench. He was barefoot on the beach, his feet were crossed in front. The shirt on his chest was loosely unbuttoned. His bronze-colored skin was exposed. There was a drawing board in front of him, and he seemed to be drawing with a pen in his hand.

She walked behind him and pushed the hair on her forehead behind her ear. She asked with a smile, "I'm really curious what do you do? Are you a painter?"

He didn't expect her to suddenly be standing behind him. He stopped what he was doing and turned around to look at her. His eyes suddenly lit up. "Miss Su, do you mind if I draw you a picture?"

Su Mianmian shrugged. "Okay, where do you need me to stand?"

He pointed at the beach in front of him. He asked her to turn her back to the sea and smile at him.

Su Mianmian tried her best to cooperate with him and smiled slightly.

"Miss Su, do you have a boyfriend?"

The smile on Su Mianmian's face froze for a moment. She shook her head. "No."

He smiled faintly and raised the brush in his hand, indicating for her to raise her hand.

"Is that so?" Su Mianmian placed her hand on the top of her head and revealed a soul-stirring smile. It was precisely because of this smile that Ouyang Que's pupils dilated. He thought that he had seen his dead girlfriend return to his side.

He threw away the brush and ran towards her. The expression on his face was a little too strange.

Su Mianmian was stunned. She was about to ask him what was wrong. He took a step forward and hugged her in his arms.

"You're back! I knew you'd come back. That's why I came here every day to wait for you. I knew you'd come back. You must have heard my prayers and that's why you came back." His trembling body leaned against hers. She felt excited.

But she didn't understand a single word he said.

"Ouyang Que, what's wrong?" She pushed him, but he was hugging her so tightly that she couldn't breathe.

"Let me hug you again. Just a few more minutes."

Su Mianmian was a little weak. She was fine, but wondered why this situation had suddenly changed. What was wrong with him?

After some time, Ouyang Que finally let go of her. When he looked down at her, he found that she was staring at him with an unhappy face. He then came back to his senses and took a step back. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry."

Su Mianmian crossed her arms, thinking that he had probably mistaken her for someone else. Seeing that his face was full of pain, she guessed that that person must be very important to him. She hurriedly stopped him from continuing to retreat. "Don't think too hard!"

Ouyang Que suddenly rolled into the sea behind him. Su Mianmian covered her eyes, not daring to look directly at him.

"Save me, I don't know how to swim."

Su Mianmian moved her hands away from her eyes and looked closely. Ouyang Que was in a sorry state, slapping in the water as his body gradually sank.

"Hey! Wait a moment." Su Mianmian took off her shoes. She ran to the beach, jumped into the sea, and swam towards him. She grabbed his arm and pulled him to her side. Hugging his heavy body, she asked somewhat sullenly, "Are you okay?"

Ouyang Que pressed his face against her chest and smiled foolishly. "You're as kind and cute as she is."

Su Mianmian was stunned. Her? Who? She was about to ask who he was referring to, when he collapsed on her chest and fainted.

He had taken her in, so she had to help. She dragged him to the shore with all her might. She felt his breath, then she crossed her hands on his chest and pressed hard.

He tilted his head and spat on the ground, instantly waking up.

Su Mianmian let out a sigh of relief. She was exhausted from kneeling in front of him.

"Are you alright?" she asked unhappily.

He held her hand and said with a smile, "Thank you. It was all thanks to you just now."

Su Mianmian pulled her hand back uncomfortably. She felt uncomfortable under his stare. "It's good that you're alright."

She let go of his hand, causing Ouyang Que to feel extremely disappointed. He knew that the woman in front of him was not his dead girlfriend, but the way she frowned and smiled was extremely similar. His heart felt alive again because of her. He knew that he had fallen in love with this mysterious woman.
