Chapter 092: Think of it as a lesson

There were two dishes on the dining table, both made by Su Mianmian; a bowl of egg soup and a plate of stir-fried vegetables.

Su Mianmian rubbed her shoulders and came out of the kitchen. She looked weak. Although they were the simplest two dishes in his eyes, they almost took her life.

She was so tired. She did not care about how she looked at all as she lied down on the sofa. She had a pillow under her face, and she hit her back with the back of her hand.

Lu Xiangdong glanced at her, picked up the chopsticks on the table, and picked up some vegetables. He looked at it for a long time, and felt no reaction.

The vegetables were half-cooked, she probably had put it in the pot and stir-fried it.

"How was it? Did I pass?" Su Mianmian was proud of her efforts. He put down his chopsticks heavily criticized her. "The dishes are not cooked yet. There are egg shells in the egg soup. If you do things so perfunctorily, you will only stay at this level for the rest of your life."

She had worked very hard, yet she knew she was not good at cooking.

"These are just two simple dishes, and you can't learn them. This can only mean that you've failed miserably. It's terrible." He was angry that she had not tried hard enough. She was not dumber than him, she just liked to slack off. This was the main reason why he was angry.

Su Mianmian threw the pillow at him. He reached out to catch the pillow. She jumped off the sofa and walked towards the stairs, cursing with conviction. "You only know how to cook and fly? Do you know more things than me? Why are you belittling me to the point that I'm worthless? I don't want to learn anymore. I don't have the patience to learn anymore. You can find another woman to cook to serve you. I don't want to be bullied by this coward!"

Lu Xiangdong threw the pillow on the sofa and shook his head helplessly. His expectations for her had been too high.

Wasn't it just cooking? Was there really a need for him to look down on others? Would she never be able to learn? The more Su Mianmian thought about it, the angrier she got. She smashed the pot onto the gas stove with all her might. With a belly full of resentment, she cut the vegetables in the kitchen alone. The had closed the kitchen door. She did not want him to know that she had come down in the middle of the night to learn how to cook.

She had to make his eyes pop out of their sockets. She had to make his dog eyes drop to the ground in shock. When she learned how to cook, she would mock him fiercely.

When she thought of the surprised and shocked expression on his face, Su Mianmian felt energized. Her drowsiness disappeared.

She cut the vegetables evenly and placed them on the plate. She clapped her hands and looked at her masterpiece with satisfaction.

Then, she prepared to crack the eggs and put it in the bowl. She could not waste them this time. Now, she was trying out her skills. One egg was enough. Su Mianmian's image as a small-town citizen was now fully displayed.

This time, she cooked smarter. As she stir-fried, she tried to eat. She picked up a green vegetable and put it in her mouth. Her face immediately showed all kinds of conflicted expressions. It was too salty.

"Bah!" She had only put two spoons of salt on it. Why was it so salty? It seemed that she had to make another serving. She had to keep going until she was satisfied.

After stir-frying another serving of green vegetables, Su Mianmian tried again. She made the same mistake and threw it into the trash can.

This time, it hadn't been too salty, but too spicy. She wanted to be innovative, so she had put a few pickled peppers in the green vegetables. It was so spicy that her eyes watered. It seemed that she couldn't just randomly innovate.

Su Mianmian didn't know how many times she had stir-fried it. She kept tasting it and pouring it into the trash can until she had used up all the vegetables in the fridge. She was already in a state of mental breakdown.

Then there were the eggs. Although she had only used one egg at a time as an experiment, she had already used up seven or eight eggs. She had used up all the eggs as well.

When she remembered that Lu Xiangdong had a habit of eating eggs in the morning, she felt conflicted. She wanted to bang her head against the wall.

Lu Xiangdong always woke up on time, at seven-thirty in the morning. This meant that she had to buy eggs before then, but the supermarket usually opened at around eight-thirty in the morning. Where could she get the eggs?

The vegetable market opened very early, but she was a little far from the vegetable market. She gritted her teeth.

Su Mianmian jumped out of the taxi and ran towards the dirty and messy vegetable market.

The items on each stall were different. She had to look for the stalls selling eggs.

Finally, she found a stall selling eggs. She ran up excitedly and shouted, "Boss, how much are the eggs?"

The boss was busily placing eggs on the stall. He glanced at her and said, "Twenty yuan per catty."

Twenty yuan? The supermarket seemed to only cost fifteen yuan. A catty could cost a few less. Wasn't the difference too big?

"Boss, you can't do business like this. Fifteen yuan is cheaper. Sell it to me." Lu Xiangdong had taught her how to choose eggs before, so she knew what kind of eggs they were.

The boss looked up at her and said impatiently, "Miss, I won't sell them for fifteen yuan. Go somewhere else to buy them for that. I'm a small business. I'd only make a loss, so don't bargain with me."

Seeing that the boss was going to drive her away, Su Mianmian quickly took a step back. "If you don't want to sell them, then don't. I don't believe that I can't buy eggs."

This was the first time the boss had met someone like her. He was so angry that he almost splashed water on her. If she dared to say another word, he would definitely splash water on her.

"What bad luck. Even if I buy an egg, I still have to suffer. What kind of world is this?"

She swore that she would never eat eggs again.

Su Mianmian found that the prices of the things here were very expensive. The eggs were being sold for twenty yuan, while other were being sold for twenty-two yuan.

Thinking of this made her want to yell.

In the end, she had to spend fourty-four yuan to buy two catties of eggs. She carried the eggs out of the market and looked for a car to go back. There was still half an hour left until seven-thirty. It would take twenty minutes to get back by taxi here, so she had to find a car quickly.

While carrying the bag of eggs, she shakily found a taxi. This trip had cost her a few hundred yuan. Her heart ached terribly.

The taxi broke down before she could reach home. The driver gave her a few dozen yuan with an apologetic look. Su Mianmian wanted to cry but had no tears. She was at least two kilometers away from the villa. Could she run two kilometers in a few minutes? The answer was no.

Even if she could make it, she would have to run up the mountain.

Su Mianmian ran as she looked at the time. There were still five minutes left. Fortunately, she was on a road and not a mountain road. Otherwise, she would definitely die.

She would go all out to strive towards her goal. There was still one kilometer left to run. She was getting closer and closer to the villa.

This was the most distance she had run in her life. She swore that she would buy a car this weekend. Her knees could not take this anymore.

When she finally reached the villa, she raised the watch on her wrist and looked at the time. She was only a few minutes late.

She tiptoed into the living room. He should still be upstairs washing up. She quietly put the eggs into the refrigerator in the same place as before.

The moment she closed the refrigerator door, she was that Lu Xiangdong was standing in front of her. She was so shocked that her eyes widened.

"You want to take the eggs?" She turned around guiltily, wanting to escape. He called out, "Your head is full of sweat. Where did you go?"

She closed her eyes and lied, "I went for a run."

"Oh." He crossed the refrigerator and walked toward the kitchen.

Su Mianmian quivered. She remembered that the trash can in the kitchen was filled with her experimental subjects. She darted to him and extended her hand to block in front of him. She deliberately wiped the sweat off her face so that he could see the sweat on her hands. "I'll wash first. Wait outside."

Lu Xiangdong felt that she was acting strange. He did not know what she was doing. If she wanted to wash first, then she should wash first. He left the kitchen.

Her nerves finally relaxed. She squatted down to find a bag to put the things in the trash can. Where should she put the things after they were packed?

She stood on her tiptoes and looked around for a place to hide things. She pulled out a cupboard and stuffed it in, but the cupboard was too full. Where should she put it? In the pot? And then put the lid on the pot?

Su Mianmian put the trash in the pot. She did such a disgusting act in order to protect her self-esteem.

Lu Xiangdong noticed that she had been gone for a long time and had not come out. He walked in somewhat impatiently.

"Are you done washing? What are you waiting for?"

Su Mianmian held the pot behind her back. She smiled and said, "I saw cockroaches in the kitchen. I was busy fighting cockroaches and forgot to wash." She moved to the sink in front of him and remembered that she did not have the habit of washing her face in the kitchen. Her toothbrush was upstairs.

He noticed her unusual behavior. After she left the kitchen, he looked around the kitchen and found that the pot that had been hanging on the wall yesterday was placed on the gas stove, and It was covered with a lid.

Lu Xiangdong walked up and removed the lid. His face changed instantly and he put the lid back on.

Su Mianmian ate her breakfast nervously, wondering if he had noticed anything. She was glad that the pot on the induction cooker was used for breakfast and not the pot on the gas stove.

Lu Xiangdong suddenly threw his chopsticks aside and looked at her with a livid expression. Her heart skipped a beat. She did not understand why he was staring at her like that. Could it be that he had discovered something? She swallowed hard.

"Why aren't you eating?"

"Su Mianmian, what are you trying to do? Didn't you say that you don't want to learn how to stir-fry? Why did you run around in the middle of the night and mess up the kitchen? You're affecting my appetite." He was very disappointed.

Su Mianmian opened her mouth. There were some things that she could not spit out. She threw her bread into the milk cup and said angrily, "How did I mess up the kitchen? And what do you mean by I'm affecting your appetite? Tell me clearly!"

"Where did you go when it was time to learn! You went to stir-fry in the middle of the night to prove that you can cook a decent dish without teaching, right? So have you learned now? Have you learned how to stir-fry vegetables and cook egg soup?"

Su Mianmian's face flushed red, and she left the table with some shame.

"You didn't learn, right? You simply treat this as entertainment. If you're in a good mood, then you'll get up and do it, but If you're in a bad mood, no matter what I say, you just ignore it. You're already in your twenties, can you not be so childish?" He said this from the bottom of his heart. The reason why he spoke so harshly was that he hoped that she would learn from her mistakes. He didn't want her to do everything as she pleased.

This was the first time Su Mianmian had fled in front of him. He was right. She had gone through so much trouble last night, but she hadn't learned the basics. Even if he hadn't said anything, she would still feel embarrassed.

After changing into a flight attendant uniform, Su Mianmian dragged her luggage and appeared in the airport lobby.

What happened in the morning had made her feel a little depressed. She bumped into Xu Mengting and Tang Wenyun, and the two of them came up to greet her as usual.

"Sister Su, you're early today."

How could she not be early? She had not even eaten her breakfast. It was all that man's fault for affecting her mood.

"I'm just a little earlier than usual."

Xu Mengting leaned against her body and smiled brightly.

"Sister Su, I heard that Captain Lu is coming back to work again."

"Huh?" Why hadn't she heard Lu Xiangdong mention this?

"You didn't know? It's just a rumor. We've only just heard about it. I heard that the company will be under the watch of his right-hand man. He's going to be our captain again," Tang Wenyun sighed.

The people on the sidelines actually didn't know about it as well as these outsiders. He had been too lazy to tell her that he had returned to work. Su Mianmian made a mental note to complain to him.

"Sister Su, what's with your expression? It's as if you don't really want Captain Lu to return to the team," Xu Mengting waved her hand in front of her.

She twitched the corners of her mouth and replied coldly, "Oh, what does his return have to do with us? Look at how happy you are."

"You don't understand. Ever since Captain Lu left, our team's members have all gone to other teams. It just shows how important Captain Lu is in the hearts of the people," Xu Mengting continued. She completely ignored Su Mianmian's overly cold reaction.

Su Mianmian looked at the two of them. Why hadn't she noticed how gossipy the two had been in the past? Whether he was their captain or their president, Lu Xiangdong would always be the superior. He had to control them. He had no humanity at all. She didn't know why they were so excited.
