Chapter 124: Chaos in the wind

"Go to hell!" A man slashed at Lu Xiangdong's shoulder.

Su Mianmian stood to the side and shouted, "Be careful!"

Lu Xiangdong punched the man in the stomach. The mastiff jumped up and bit off a part of the man's chin.

The man held his bleeding chin and rolled on the ground in pain.

The mastiff barked at the men, scaring them into dropping their knives. They retreated desperately and then disappeared in the blink of an eye.

"Ah! Don't bite me, don't!" The man who was rolling on the ground got up and ran forward in a sorry state.

Lu Xiangdong called out to the mastiff, and told it to stop chasing the man. The mastiff wagged its tail and walked up to him, looking like it was waiting for a reward.

"Ah, the mastiff's injury is not light." Su Mianmian saw that the mastiff's back was dyed red with blood, its fur was soaked.

Lu Xiangdong squatted down and took out a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe its wound. He looked up at her and said, "You'd better confess to its owner about this. But for now, take it to the vet to treat its wound."

Su Mianmian nodded.

The mastiff was getting weaker by the minute. It lay on a dog bed, its head drooping. This was a stark contrast to its usual high-spirited manner.

Su Mianmian touched its head apologetically. "I'm sorry that you got hurt. I'll call Ouyang Que right away and ask him to come and see you."

Lu Xiangdong stood behind her. When he heard her say this, the corners of his mouth involuntarily twitched.

"Don't be silly. It's already so late. Do you want him to come and take care of it? Or do you want to return it to him directly?"

Ouyang Que was allergic to dogs. Even if she called him to come over now, he might not be able to take it away.

"Oh, that seems to be true. He's allergic to dogs, so he probably won't be able to help." She put her phone back into her pocket and asked Dr. Chong, "Can I bring the mastiff back?"

The doctor placed his equipment back on the table. "After you go back, it's best not to bathe the dog for the next few days."

"Oh, okay doctor." Su Mianmian clapped her hands at the mastiff and shouted, "Mastiff, let's go. We're going home."

It moaned and jumped down from the dog bed.

She led it ahead while Lu Xiangdong followed behind.

It was rare for the weather to be as good as it was now. Su Mianmian lay on a chair beside the swimming pool and basked in the sun. The mastiff lay on the ground and exhaled hot air.

"Mastiff, you can go inside. You don't have to stay outside with me."

The mastiff raised its head and moaned.

Lu Xiangdong stood in front of the window and looked at the scene outside. He frowned.

Su Mianmian got up from her chair and walked towards him. She squatted down to help him check on his injuries. His wounds were already healing, but the healing process was slow. Fortunately, the wound was not fatal. Otherwise, she would not have been able to answer to Ouyang Que.

The mastiff looked behind and saw Lu Xiangdong standing beside the glass window. He got up in high spirits and wagged his tail.

It seemed that after a few days of interaction, the mastiff had already regarded Lu Xiangdong as half a master. When it saw Lu Xiangdong, it would howl proudly.

Lu Xiangdong pushed open the glass door and walked out.

"Basking in the sun?" He crossed his hands over his chest and looked at her.

Su Mianmian looked at his casual attire. "Captain Lu, since you're not going to work today, why don't you-"

"Why don't I what?"

"Go out and roast meat?"

...

Lu Xiangdong was disappointed. All Su Mianmian could ever think about was eating. 'Can't you put something else in your head?' he thought.

"I'm not going to roast meat. I'm going to the library to buy some information," he said and turned around to walk inside.

Su Mianmian pursed her lips. How boring. He was already dozens of years old, yet he still went to the library during the holidays.

"Su Mianmian, do you want to go with me? I heard that there are novels in the library."

Her eyes lit up. "Yes, I want to go too."

But if she went to the library, what should she do about the mastiff?

"Leave it at home. I'll have the servants keep an eye on it. It absolutely can't be brought along."

Su Mianmian said apologetically to the mastiff, "I'm sorry. The library doesn't allow dogs to enter, so you need to stay at home for the day. I'll send you back to your master tomorrow."

Lu Xiangdong wondered if the mastiff could understand her mumbling. It probably didn't understand at all.

After changing, Su Mianmian walked downstairs, grabbed his wrist, and said with a smile, "Drive your car."

The main reason she said this was because her car was boring. His car was different. It cost at least a million yuan. How cool was that?

Lu Xiangdong let her get in the car. Why was there so much trouble?

The library they went to was the largest in the city. It had all kinds of books, and it was divided into several floors. The books on each floor were different. The novel Su Mianmian wanted to read was on the second floor, and the Information Lu Xiangdong wanted to find was on the fifth floor. The two of them went to different floors to look for their books.

"I'll call you later." Su Mianmian was the first to come out of the elevator. Lu Xiangdong continued to take the elevator to the fifth floor.

She didn't expect there to be so many books here. She didn't even know what type of novel she was going to buy. She picked a few romance novels from the bookshelf and walked around. She soon found that there was nothing to buy.

Moreover, just three novels alone cost her 100 yuan and she didn't even know if they were well-written or not.

Lu Xiangdong took a book and flipped through it a few times. The phone in his pocket suddenly rang. He put the phone to his ear and asked, "Have you picked one?"

"Yes, I've already bought it. When will you come down?" Su Mianmian was standing in line at the checkout area to pay.

"Go to the reading area on the first floor first and wait for me. I'll come down in ten minutes." Lu Xiangdong hung up and took another book. He lowered his head to check if he had all the books he needed.

A tall figure suddenly stood beside him. The person suddenly turned around and shouted at him, "Mick? Senior, why is it you!"

She was wearing a cool dress. Under his shocked gaze, she immediately gave him a hug.

"Zhu Di, you came to China?" Lu Xiangdong gently pushed her away. He felt a little uncomfortable being hugged by her.

Zhu Di curled her red lips and put a hand on his shoulder. She smiled very sweetly. "I've been in China for a month. I heard that you live here, so I came to look for you. I didn't expect to meet you here. I'm so happy!"

Lu Xiangdong could not help but stiffen. She had come for him?

"Zhu Di, to tell you the truth, I'm very busy every day now. I don't have much free time."

Her eyes rolled and she covered her mouth sadly. "Oh, I know. You men have to wait on your wives at home, don't you? It's okay. I can take you around when you're free."

He really wanted to tell her that he was not free, but she was his schoolmate after all, and he could only reluctantly agree. "Let's wait for this weekend. I'll take you to some scenic spots in China to take a few photos."

She smiled and nodded. "Okay, Senior."

He deliberately raised the watch on his wrist to look at the time and said apologetically, "Sorry, my wife is waiting for me downstairs. I'll send you an email another day."

"Senior, wait a minute. Leave me your contact information." Zhu Di took out her phone, tugged at his sleeve, and smiled.

There was nothing he could do. Lu Xiangdong took out a business card from his pocket and gave it to her. "Can you read Chinese? There's my contact information on it."

She made an OK gesture and sent him into the elevator with a smile.

Lu Xiangdong treated this as an insignificant encounter, so he didn't think too much about it. He took the elevator to the first floor to look for Su Mianmian.

Su Mianmian found a seat and leaned back on the chair to read a novel. After flipping through a few pages, she found that the writing was a little vulgar. She yawned and wanted to sleep.

When she looked up, she saw a familiar figure coming out of the elevator door. She quickly put the book into her bag and walked towards him.

"I'm so bored. You're finally down. If you hadn't come down sooner, I would have fallen asleep on the table!"

He could have come down earlier, but he was entangled by Zhu Di.

"Which novels did you buy?" He saw that she was holding a bag in her hand. There were at least a few novels in it.

"Romance, three novels." She showed off.

He raised his eyebrows. "Then I guess I can read them for a few nights."

"I can finish reading them in one night. By the way, what did you buy?" She was very curious about what information he came here to buy.

"I told you, you wouldn't understand." The books he read were very complicated, and most girls wouldn't be able to understand them.

Su Mianmian was dumbfounded on the spot. He hadn't even told her, so how would he know if she could or couldn't understand? He was discriminating against her.

Seeing her expression change, he hurriedly smiled and said, "I'm just joking. Most girls aren't interested in this subject. Let's go out and find a place to eat."

This, she should be more interested in.

Su Mianmian nodded her head. She was interested in eating. But recently, her appetite wasn't as big as before. She didn't know if it was related to her pregnancy.

Lu Xiangdong opened the car door for her. She bent down and was about to get in the car when someone suddenly rushed past her. A woman's bell-like laughter sounded. "Senior, wait a minute."

Su Mianmian turned her head and saw a foreign woman standing beside her. She hooked onto Lu Xiangdong's arm in front of her. What was going on? Su Mianmian's mind was a mess of questions.
