Chapter 145: the Child is about to be born

She slept until midnight. Su Mianmian wanted to sit up and pour herself a glass of water, but her leg suddenly started to cramp.

"Madam Wu!" She knew that the servant, Madam Wu, would be sleeping, but she needed help.

The half-asleep Madam Wu rubbed her eyes and ran upstairs.

"Young Madam, what happened?'' Madam Wu stood at the door with a sleepy face. Upon seeing that she was covering her leg, she ran over worriedly. "Young Madam, what happened to you?"

"My leg is cramping. Please help me straighten it." Her leg was cramping uncontrollably and she could not straighten it with her hands.

Madam Wu helped her straighten her leg. She was so anxious that her forehead was covered in sweat. "Young Madam, I'll get the butler to call the doctor to take a look at you."

She grabbed Madam Wu, who was about to leave, and shook her head. "There's no need to trouble others in the middle of the night. I'll probably be fine in a while." Her face was very pale from the pain. Madam Wu saw this and felt very distressed. She could not help but ask, "What's wrong with young master? Why hasn't he returned after being gone for so long? How can he rest knowing that you are alone in this big villa?"

Su Mianmian instantly lowered her eyes. "Even if he was by my side now, he might not be able to cure my leg cramps. I'm much better now. Go and cook some hot soup for me. I want to see the night sky."

Madam Wu hurriedly nodded. "Alright, Young Madam. It's just that the wind is strong outside. You'd better put on a coat to prevent yourself from catching a cold."

"I know." She took out a pair of slippers from under the bed, put them on, and stood up. She walked over to a window and pushed it open. The cool night breeze blew against her face, waking her up.

She had never suffered from insomnia before, but ever since Lu Xiangdong had left, she had not been able to sleep well at all. It was as if she had too much on her mind.

It had been four months. The child would be born in two or three months time, and he was still nowhere to be found.

She held her phone tightly, and for the first time, she had the urge to call him. She looked down at her phone and touched his name on her screen. She hesitated whether to call him or not.

"Young Madam, your hot soup is ready."

She looked at her phone and called out to the servant, "Bring it in. It's so late, go back to sleep. You don't have to serve me anymore."

The servant followed her instructions and brought the hot soup in. Then, she closed the door and left.

Su Mianmian sat in front of the desk and took a sip of the soup.

'Call him!' she told herself, 'call him for the sake of the child!' She mustered up all her courage and pressed his number.

For some reason, her heart was beating unusually fast. She was suddenly afraid of hearing his voice, afraid that she would suddenly lose control.

However, the moment the call was connected, the voice that came from the other end was not his voice. "Sorry, the number you dialed has been disconnected."

Disconnected? Su Mianmian's face instantly turned pale. She did not want to think of the worst, but he had suddenly disappeared for four months and his cell phone had been disconnected. What could this mean?

Lu Wenzhong must know about Lu Xiangdong's situation. He must know.

Su Mianmian decided that she would go to the Lu family's villa early tomorrow morning. She wanted to know what Lu Xiangdong was doing overseas.

Lu Wenzhong waited for her in his study. He knew that she would have questions to ask him.

Su Mianmian entered the study and closed the door. She looked at the man standing in front of the window and called out, "Chairman!"

"You're here. Have a seat."

"No need. I came here to ask you something about Lu Xiangdong," she said, biting her lip.

He nodded.

"I told you before that he's dealing with a project and needs some time."

She shook her head. "Chairman, you're lying. Who doesn't keep their phone turned on when it comes to business? You're obviously hiding something for him."

She took a few steps back and leaned against the wall. Her eyes were filled with despair.

"Chengwu Su, you have to calm down. He would never betray you."

"I don't believe it. Unless he tells me personally that he's working now and not hiding from me, I don't want to hear anything about him," Su Mianmian shouted excitedly.

"Chengwu Su, listen to me." Lu Wenzhong was also dealing with his own difficulties.

She waved her hand, covered her ears, and cried, "I don't want to hear it. If he still had me in his heart, he wouldn't turn a blind eye to me and the child. I hate him. Tell him that I will never forgive him for the rest of my life."

He watched her determined figure leave and punched his desk.

"Someone send young madam back. You must ensure her safety. Don't let anything happen to her," he shouted. His servant hurried over to respond, "Yes, chairman."

Su Mianmian refused to go back with any of Lu Wenzhong's servants. Since his son didn't want her anymore, why did he still care about her? Whether she lived or died had nothing to do with the Lu family.

"Young Madam, let me send you back."

"Go away! Don't come near me." Su Mianmian angrily shook off the servant's hand.

The servant was worried that something would happen to her, so he quickly followed behind her.

"Don't follow me. Go back and tell your chairman that I won't commit suicide. I will live well."

The servant shook his head. Why did she have to do this? Why did she have to go against her own body?

When she walked out of the villa, Su Mianmian burst into tears.

Ouyang Que followed his previous promise and came to look for Su Mianmian.

Su Mianmian changed into a loose set of clothes and walked downstairs.

Her belly was getting bigger and bigger, and it was getting difficult to fit into any of her clothes. All she could do was loosen her clothes to feel more comfortable.

Ouyang Que led her into his car.

"Ouyang Que, when the child is born I want you to be her godfather. Being a godfather is not easier than being a father." She got into the car and smiled.

"Isn't that letting you take advantage of me? I reckon that no woman in my life will take a fancy to me if I am being called father by your daughter," he joked back. In reality, he hoped that there would be a child who would call him father. Unfortunately, it was not his child.

"Don't worry. You are now in charge of the Worldwide Group. Even if you are divorced, there will be many women who will pounce on you one after another."

Ouyang Que started the car.

"Thank you for your kind words."

She was already so unlucky, how could she have any good luck to pass on to him?

"Mianmian, there is a shopping mall ahead. Do you want to buy some children's or ***** supplies?" He felt that he should prepare the children's things in advance, just in case he needed them.

"I will go and see if there are any clothes for the baby. I have a lot of clothes, I can never wear them all." She pushed open the car door and got out.

Ouyang Que followed her out of the car and entered the shopping mall with her.

"How many months until the baby is born?" he asked her.

"Just over two months." She looked at the baby clothes carefully.

"Oh, soon!" Ouyang Que glanced at her stomach.

The pregnancy was almost over, and her heart disease had been cured by Yan Zimo. He was actually quite skilled in medicine.

"What are you thinking about?" He saw that her gaze was no longer set on the baby clothes she was holding.

She put down the clothes in her hands and shook her head. "I'm thinking that I've walked out of the gates of hell once. There must be good fortune after surviving a great disaster."

She was no longer the joker she used to be. She seemed to have changed into a different person, sighing and drifting off from time to time.

This had to have something to do with Lu Xiangdong. Before, he had thought highly of Lu Xiangdong, but now, he realized that he was an irresponsible man. If he had known this would happen, he would have done everything he could to snatch Mianmian away from him.

Su Mianmian had already walked ahead. He quickly chased after her.

When they left the shopping mall, Ouyang Que's hands were full with two large bags of baby products.

"Ouyang Que, you have worked hard. When the child grows up, they will show you respect as a godfather." Su Mianmian pulled open the front passenger seat and sat in it.

He put all the things in the trunk and closed the back cover. He clapped his hands and said, "It's good that the child has such a heart. I have done so much not because I want to get something in return from you. I am willing to do it for you. You don't need to feel any pressure or burden."

She turned her head and looked at the scenery outside the window. She sighed and said, "It's going to be winter soon. I had hoped that the child would be born in autumn."

"Don't think so much. It's best to let nature take its course." Ouyang Que smiled and started the engine.

Another month passed. Su Mianmian was getting closer and closer to the delivery date. She was worried and anxious every day as she waited for the arrival of the child. She had just gone to the bathroom when she suddenly had a severe stomach ache.

The servants thought that she had eaten something wrong and hurriedly sent her to the hospital. When they arrived at the hospital, they found out that the child was going to be born early. Su Mianmian was completely unprepared; it was her first child and there was no one around to take care of her. She was so anxious that her face dripped with sweat.

When Lu Wenzhong heard that she was going to give birth, he quickly asked his housekeeper to drive to the hospital. He was so anxious because he wanted to see if she would give birth to a boy or a girl. He wanted to take care of her for his son, and hoped that she could give birth safely.

"Ah! It hurts!" Su Mianmian had been in the delivery room for a whole day, but the child was still not born.

Although Yan Zimo would not help to deliver the child, Su Mianmian was his patient and he felt that this moment was special. He specially asked for leave to visit Su Mianmian.
