Chapter 96 was an in-depth confirmation

Those who were admitted into the third high school were students who had always had good grades and scored high in the middle school examination. Some of them might have been top students in their school. Of course, there were also those who didn't get good results in the exam but were able to get in when their families paid a large sum of money for them to be admitted.

There were also people like Mu Zilin, who was lucky enough to get into the third high school mainly because of his good test scores. If it was based on his previous grades, there was no way he could have gotten into the third high school.

To be qualified to join a key class, however, students were required to ensure that their score was actually higher than the admission score. This is the group where the students for the key class are chosen. During the school year, some of the top performing students from other key classes are asked take a test. If they passed the test, they could get into the key class. Those who wouldn't make the cut would be embarrassed.

With this process, the school would be able to ensure that the students of the key class could basically be considered quite outstanding.

Shuishui was originally arranged to be in the key class, but the arrangement was directly rejected by Shuishui. The key class was valued and given more importance, while Shuishui was relatively ignored. However, the teachers from the other classed had discovered Shuishui's potenial. They felt that they definitely couldn't let her thrive among other regular students. They had to train her well. They felt that if Shuishui's monthly test results would come out higher than the scores of the students from the key class, then they would feel proud.

The chemistry teacher, Han Lu, was a new teacher. She liked Qian Shuishui very much. She felt that Shuishui was humble and understood the lessons very thoroughly. She looked at Qian Shuishui's quiet and gentle appearance and felt that Shuishui was a good student who went home to study every day.

It was not in Qian Shuishui's nature to be quiet, but she could be regarded as a cold person. Her personality was too cold and calm. Sometimes, with her teachers, she would not say anything simply because she had nothing to say. It did not mean that she was a quiet girl.

She did not know her teachers' evaluation of her, but she highly respected the science teachers because they were very serious in class. After class, they would even talk to the students to advise them on how to improve their academic performance.

Mu Zilin looked at the time. "Class is about to end. After class, we can hang out. Where are you going? Let's go to the game console city. What do you think?"

Shuishui heard what Mu Zilin had said as he reached out his hand. She shook her head and indicated that she did not want to go.

Mu Zilin insisted. "Let's go to your house. I just don't want to go home today. Don't chase me away."

Shuishui did not reply. When their class was over, the class teacher immediately dismissed everyone. Shuishui then asked Mu Zilin, "What do you mean?"

"We have a guest at home. I don't really want to go back. Anyway, I'm not going back today. Please take me in." Mu Zilin could not explain too much because there were some things that Shuishui would not understand even if he had told her.

"That's fine, but I don't have any groceries at home. Let's go out for dinner tonight." Shuishui still had a lot of things to attend to at home, so she was in quite a hurry.

"En, anyway, I've disturbed you tonight. But please let me play on your computer. Otherwise, I'll definitely be bored to death." Mu Zilin and Shuishui walked together as they said goodbye to Mu Qing.

Mu Qing looked at them and felt envious. She couldn't go out with them because she still had remedial classes to attend. Her family was worried that she wouldn't be able to keep up, so she had to make up for her lessons every Friday and on weekends.

"Sure," Shuishui said as she and Mu Zilin walked out of the school gate.

At that moment, Shuishui's cell phone rang. She checked her phone and saw that she had received a message from Li Xue, whom she referred to as her 'cheap' mother: "Come home for dinner tonight."

She didn't explain the reason nor did she say why. It was just one sentence.

Shuishui replied: "Oh." She didn't say anything else.

Mu Zilin saw Shuishui's expression and felt a little strange. "What's wrong? Is there something you need? If there's something you need to do, you can go and get busy. You don't have to worry about me."

"Let's eat first. After we finish eating, you can take the keys and go directly to my apartment. I need to go home. They asked me to go back for dinner," Shuishui explained calmly.

Mu Zilin did not understand. "They asked you to go back for dinner, and you still want to eat with me?"

"I'm afraid that I won't go home for dinner. If I do, I might not have eaten anything. I can't let myself go hungry. Let's go. Don't bother about it." Shuishui felt that going back home was troublesome. Moreover, she really did not like the two other women in her family.

Mu Zilin wanted to ask Shuishui about it, but he wanted to wait until they sat down and ate quietly before he would ask again.

They randomly found a tea restaurant and stopped for a meal. They ordered three side dishes.

While they were waiting for the dishes to be served, Mu Zilin asked, "I remember you saying that your mother doesn't like you. I really can't imagine how a mother would treat her daughter this way. Now that I think about it, you don't look like your mother. You're more like your father."

"I've thought about that a long time ago. The strange thing is that ever since I was young, she has never liked me. I don't look like I was adopted. I don't understand either. Qian Momo dislikes me as well." Shuishui also didn't understand many of these things.

"Why don't you go and take a DNA test?" Mu Zilin suggested a devious idea.

Shuishui felt that it would be good to take the test. She wanted to confirm whether she and Li Xue were biologically related. As for her father, she knew that since he was a businessman, his children must have all been tested before.

Mu Zilin laughed and smiled awkwardly. It didn't seem right. "I was just saying it casually."

"It's fine. You did remind me of something. There are some things that I have to confirm first. If we really are related, then I have nothing more to say." Shuishui thought that she would be able to get a strand of Li Xue's hair that night. Although she felt that it was unlikely that she wasn't her biological child, she still wanted to confirm it once. She had to see the results with her own eyes and use the facts to convince herself. It could also be an explanation for how the previous Shuishui had treated her 'mother.'
