In chapter 114, someone installed a pinhole camera outside the window

He Lanjin's heart raced. Qiao Hanye locked eyes with her, causing her to panic. She quickly turned away.

"Let go," she said in a low voice.

Qiao Hanye's teasing made He Lanjin blush. She struggled against him, but the more she did, the tighter he hugged her.

Qiao Hanye took He Lanjin's arm in his hand and rolled up her sleeve. He caressed the arm that he knew had been hurting for the past few days, the same arm that the old woman scratched earlier. "You are injured. Does this hurt?"

"It's okay," He Lanjin said. "I'm used to getting injuries. It was not uncommon for me to get into accidents and spend half a month in bed when I was still in the Military Academy."

He Lanjin was fine, but Qiao Hanye still insisted on treating her wound, skillfully bandaging it after cleaning and applying some ointment. His heart ached for He Lanjin, but he did not tell her to withdraw from the rescue mission.

After all, he knew that He Lanin was her own person, with her own ideals and ambitions. He did not want to cripple her or clip her wings, so he was doing his best to protect her instead.

Qiao Hanye slowly lowered his head and kissed He Lanjin on the lips. His fingers moved under her clothes, wanting to explore her body.

He Lanjin lay on the bed, her ponytail spread on the pillow. Qiao Hanye lay on top of her and kissed her neck. He nibbled on her ear, making her gasp. He Lanjin clutched the bedsheet, unsure about where to put her hands.

Just then, the two heard a noise from outside. "Get off," He Lanjin said. "Let me get up."

"I'll go take a look," Qiao Hanye said as rose up from bed. He Lanjin immediately felt her skin cooling. Before he went to the door, Qiao Hanye straightened out He Lanjin's clothes and made sure she was decently covered.

"Okay," He Lanjin replied, watching Qiao Hanye's back.

Qiao Hanye opened the door and turned around to catch her eye. "Don't sneak out of bed," Qiao Hanye said. "Lie down and rest well."

"Yes, Mr. Qiao," He Lanjin said with a smile.

He Lanjin lay in bed, enveloped by the smell of Qiao Hanye, which lingered on the sheets. After some time, she got ready to continue helping the other rescuers. But before she left the room, her eye caught a little movement by the window.

He Lanjin walked to the window and looked through the glass. There was a pinhole camera designed to look like a piece of iron wire, Anyone who did not know better would not have noticed the camera at all, but He Lanjin had been trained to spot such devices. Was someone spying on her? Or were they after Qiao Hanye?

He Lanjin sneered. She turned around and left, an idea forming in her mind.

At the entrance to the makeshift hospital, where she was planning to lend a hand, she saw a scuffle. Two guards had thrown a person out; he landed half a meter away on the ground.

"I want to see your leader," Zhao Yuyi said as he got up. One of the guards kicked him in the face, while the other one lifted him up by the collar. "Just try giving us trouble again," the guard threatened. "And you will end up just like your father, dead without a corpse."

"You will pay for this!" Zhao Yuyi roared as the guards kicked him to the ground and left him smarting in pain.

As He Lanjin approached, she saw blood oozing out of the corner of Zhao Yuyi's mouth. He had fresh wounds all over his body. She extended her arm, wishing to help him up.

Zhao Yuyi was a little surprised to see He Lanjin. "No need," he grunted. He did not take her hand and stood up on his own, in an attempt to retain his last ounce of dignity.

Zhao Yuyi, however, had difficulty getting up. He still had not recovered from the injuries caused by the earthquake the other day.

"What happened?" He Lanjin asked softly.

She looked back and saw a guard staring at Zhao Yuyi. The guard seemed to be giving Zhao Yuyi a warning. The scene felt very strange to He Lanjin. Something was definitely going on.

"Don't get involved in my business," Zhao Yuyi said in a strained voice as he straightened his back and walked away. After a couple of steps, he turned back to He Lanjin and said, "This isn't Jiang City. You better go home. No one can protect you if something bad happens to you here."
