Chapter 147 How old are you?

"It's alright," Qiao Hanye said.

He Lanjin tried to warm Qiao Hanye's hands by rubbing his hands and burying her little face in them, not saying a word.

Qiao Hanye looked at her and took half a step forward. She grabbed him by the lapels of his shirt and wordlessly slipped into his arms.

"What's wrong?" Qiao Hanye looked at He Lanjin dotingly. She was like a little wild cat snuggling in his arms. He laughed quietly and said in a low voice, "Do you feel sorry for big baby?"

He Lanjin smiled. She raised her head and said, "Big baby, how big are you?"

He Lanjin regretted what she said as soon as the words came out of her mouth, especially when she saw Qiao Hanye's enigmatic smile. She wanted to slap herself twice. She must have been corrupted by An Nuan, that pervert. Otherwise, how could she even think of saying such a thing?

"I, I'm going out for a walk." He Lanjin turned around and left. Her eyes turned cold as she stepped out.

What a fool she was to not see this coming. She had let her guard down, confident that their living quarters had been set up by the military. However, the cold water in the shower was clearly a warning to her; it might even be...

Qiao Hanye did not stop He Lanjin, seeing how embarrassed she was. He was happy to have had this moment with her. She was escaping from him now, but he knew that one day she would escape into his arms.

The moment she disappeared, Qiao Hanye's handsome face darkened slightly. He looked as if a storm was brewing inside him.

"Master." Secret guards appeared from nowhere.

Qiao Hanye's body emitted a chill. He loomed over the guards as he spoke. "What have you found out so far?"

"Someone tampered with the heating system. The water in bathroom was set to hot. The only reason Madam was not scalded was a malfunction in the system, so the water was set to cold instead," replied one of the secret guards.

Qiao Hanye's fingers trembled slightly. "You have two hours to find her," Qiao Hanye said, his voice cold.

"Yes, Master."

As the guards left, Qiao Hanye walked to He Lanjin's side of the bed. He saw the ledger on the desk and picked it up. He flipped through the pages and looked at her wild and powerful handwriting. It was just like He Lanjin, wild and unrestrained.

... ...

Half an hour ago...

Lu Zifan rushed to the disaster area with a hired expert. They arrived with just enough time for the expert to unlock the coffin's password. A second later and He Ruoxue would have died. The coffin door opened to reveal He Ruoxue's weak body. A strange smell was coming from inside of her. She felt something slip out of her body.

He Ruoxue smiled weakly as she saw Lu Zifan. "Brother Zifan," she said as she struggled to get up. More than anything, He Ruoxue wanted to throw herself into Lu Zifan's arms.

The strange smell wafted through Lu Zifan's nose. He narrowed his eyes slightly and kept a slight distance from He Ruoxue. "How are you feeling?" he asked with concern. "Are you feeling well?"

"It hurts... my whole body hurts." He Ruoxue sobbed softly. Tang Zhilin and He Wenqing pounced on her and hugged her, relieved that she was safe. "Xiaoxue, where are you hurt? Let us take you to the doctor."

He Ruoxue sobbed softly, wanting to speak. She was about to speak when she felt someone pinch her.

Her body stiffened as she looked over and saw Lu Zifan.

He Ruoxue and Lu Zifan looked at each other...

"He Ruoxue seems fine, and that's good. He Lanjin has become too arrogant. We need to find reporters to expose her character. Otherwise, I'll be taking the blame for the trouble she caused. Now that I think of it, she must have caused my assets to be frozen. She must have offended someone and the He Corporation is paying for it."

He Wenqing put his hand on He Ruoxue's shoulder and said, "Don't worry. Daddy will make the decision for you."

"Okay," He Ruoxue replied awkwardly, not daring to move an inch.
