Today was the send off party of Ken. Mum got our dresses made by herself, since she was a seamstress. The dresses were peculiar, mine was a floor length peach lacera and pink lace Ankara dress.It hugged me like a second  skin. I did my make up, I was pretty good yeah. Mum paid for my hair do and nails and she even bought the peach coloured shoes I wore with the dress.

I was seriously out to impress, maybe when Ken sees me, he'll change his mind on that bullshit he told me. Mum on the other hand, was fabulous, her dress was alike to mine just she went all black with silver shoes and jewelry. I've never been a fan of jewelry though, so my ears and neck we're just plain.

         Mum hasn't still told Ken about our decision yet, I guess, because he has approached me on that.

"Laurie!!!".... I spun around, when I heard my name called from behind. Sam, as handsome as ever in a suit. woah, never knew he had one, he's looking so fine!!!.

"Hey bestie." I said, walking towards him.

"Hey girl, you look so fine and you look so sweet." He sang the last part, making me laugh so much we got attention.

"You don't look so bad yourself, thanks for honoring my invitation."

"No no, didn't come for ya, I came to send that prick of your boyfriend off." Sam said, ending a smack on his arm from me.

"Speaking of the devil, and here he comes." Sam said, I turned around to see Ken headed our  direction but suddenly stopped, he look from me, to Sam, back to me and then Sam and just turned and left. ok, what was that about?

"I really don't know what you like about that asshole, he's so grumpy." He said pouting.

Cute!!!... "OhSam, shut it, your just jealous, because my boo is more handsome than you." I said sticking out my tougue at him.

"Whatever," he replied rolling his eyes at me. "Laurie you're just so whipped, you can't see the truth."

"Did you just roll your eyes at me?".... "Seriously Sam, you're seriously becoming gay o."

Sam spat out the drink in his mouth, turning to me. "Laura, stop that kind yeye joke o." (Stop that bad joke.) He said in broken English.

"Ok ok, I'm sorry. " I said rubbing his back, trying to hold in my laughter.

       I looked around, and noticed the house was full now, Mom invited her colleagues and business partners. She had a little business, she was fetching a few millions out of, So she didn't go all out for the party, but you wouldn't say it ain't good from the drinks, to the food and the decorations, everything was perfect. I looked around, wondering we're Ken was, then I saw him. He was staring at me so intensely. creepy!! When I smiled, he looked away, not reciprocating my smile jerk.

"Sam how are you." I turned to see Mum now beside me.

"I'm very fine, thank you Ma."

"Can I borrow Laura for a while please?" She already grabbed my arm gently .

"Sure, I ain't got a problem with that. I'll be right here Laur." He said giving me a peck on the cheek.

     Mum lead me away, to the centre of the room. "Ken honey, can you come over here dear?" She said, motioning him to come. We were both stood beside mum now.

"Thank you everyone, for honoring my invitation, you all know why we're gathered here, its to send off my son Ken. But I also have another important announcement to make. You also know my girl Laurie, she's like a daughter I never had, and I know she'll be the perfect Match for Ken seeing as they are so much in love. So I therefore bethrote them to each other. Happy engagement my darlings." Mum said hugging me, and then Ken as everyone clapped, cheered and whistled around us.

         I was looking at Ken throughout, I couldn't know what was going on in that head of his, because his face was just blank, couldn't decipher any emotion.

"Mum excuse us, I wanna have a word with my Fiance." Ken said grabbing my arm and dragging me away before I could protest. oh no, this is not good. We reach the hallway, that lead to the kitchen. He flung me so hard, that I hit the wall.

"Ken, what was that for!!!".. I yelled.

"Oh shut it, you little spoilt brat, what have you done?"

"What did I do this time again?"

"You manipulated mum into this bullcrap of an engagement, didn't you?"

"Ken, its because I love you, and I know you love me too, that's why I did what I did."

"Oh, get over yourself child, what do you know about love? Huh!!!. Look, I don't care how you did it, but also do the same and get Mum to call of this engagement."

"Well, sorry to disappoint you, but you're mine Ken, and there's nothing you can do about that." I yelled. How dare he talk me like this, on our engagement day.

"Ok, is that a bet? Alright, I'm in. Let the game begin, two can play you know?. I'll fight this with everything I have, let me see howfar you can hold on."

"My love, will definitely conquer your hate, I promise you that."vI said looking away. I was already close to tears, but I wasn't gonna give him the privilege of seeing me cry, I held it all in.

"Well well, we'll see about that." And he turned around and left.

Ken's an Asshole, I know. But he also has his reasons.
