Zena finds a Child

He looked down and glanced at his hands in wonder as they were covered in blood.

'I'm stronger, a bit slower, and my nails..' It was more suitable to call them claws as they reflected dark light as they blinkered dangerously in the sun.

He went back inside and closed the door firmly, then walked to the sink and washed his hands.

After washing the blood from his hands, he staggered to the sofa, and sat down while holding the shiny gem-like nucleus in hand.

He thought for a moment that placed it in his mouth.

A refreshing cool wave of energy erupted from his mouth and circulated in his body then entered his brain.

'It's rather good, I could grow addicted to this feeling.' He sighed and walked to the mirror and thought of s troublesome thing.

'I'm a guy at heart, but my body is female, and if I ever regain the ability to speak, how will I introduce myself?'

He pondered while crossing his legs and putting his chin on his hand.

'And what should I do if and when I come across a human? Should I kill it? Or keep it for food?' He never pretended to be a good person and simply acted on his whims, so if he came across a human, he decided he'd act according to the situation.

He glanced at the clock on the wall and realized he could still see, even in a flat that lost all power and was dark as night.

He walked back to the door and cracked it, and peeked outside to see the situation when he saw a squad of men, clad in black and armed to the teeth walking down the street while killing every zombie they came across.

Looking at the zombies shambling towards the men, Zane silently cursed them for going to their deaths when a name popped into his head.

'Zena! I can call myself Zena!' He made a fist as he subconsciously switched his sense of being and started to think in third person.

'Zena is female, a beautiful female at that, and if she plays her cards right, she can survive extremely long and not get a bullet through the brain.' Zena nodded to herself and smiled, as she stepped backwards into the flat.

After absorbing the nucleus from the zombie, she found that her body was no longer as stiff as before, in fact, she never felt so unrestrained and free in her life.

Zena ran becoming a blur as she burst through the back door and came face to face with a zombie attracted by the noise.

Her nails turned to claws as she swung them, and the zombie's head exploded like a watermelon.

She knelt and grabbed the nucleus that ended up on the floor and took off running.

Popping the second nucleus into her mouth, not minding the blood and gore, she swallowed it and felt the pleasant sensation of energy rushing to her brain again.

Mid stride, her body stopped and collapsed pimply to the floor as her skin was soon covered in a layer of frost.

'Ice? Wait are you a system?' Zena's body trembled as she thought of his easy life would be if she had a system.

Her long silky black hair remained the same, except for a few icy streaks that marred her hair.

She pushed herself up and looked around to find a warm heat on her face.

Looking up, she saw a ball of white that bothered her eyes causing her to look away.

She glanced up while covering her eyes with a languid hand as she realized as she looked at the sun.

She looked around and saw a few buildings with roofs a couple meters off the ground and ran to the roof as swiftly as the wind.

Running and crouching low like a predator about to catch it's prey, she leapt and thrust her claws out.

A zombie turned in time for a hand to insert itself into its brain and yank out its nucleus as wind blew by.

Looking back to see the zombie topple over, she crouched and leapt to the roof in a single bound.

'System?' She called out to the system in her head questioningly, as she wasn't sure if what she heard before she lost consciousness was real.

A soft and cold voice rang out in her head.

'No need doubt to it. Status.' She shrugged and said.

[ Name : Zena

Race : Zombie

Rank : 2

Superpower : Ice ]

Her brows furrowed as she read her stats.

'Rank 2 Zombie… Superpower? Guess I'll have to find out on my own…' Zena made a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes as the wind blew from behind her.

A scent filled the air, causing all the nearby zombies to turn and walk over while fixing their hungry eyes on the building Zena stood on.

'A human?' Zena walked to the ledge and looked down, seeing zombies start to crowd the building.

Knowing they weren't here for her, she relaxed while she hung from the ledge and then let go.

Falling two meters to the ground, Zena wondered belatedly if the impact would hurt.

However, when she touched the ground, the force that clung to her body dissipated like ice in spring.

She walked to the door as the zombies automatically made a path through for her as she put a hand against the lock and yanked it.

The sound of metal distorting filled the air as the lock fell to the ground.

'Seriously, the lock was only supposed to keep the door closed and it failed at the only job it had…'

Sighing helplessly, she raised the shutter to find a small human girl, looking about six or seven alone in a shop clinging to a blanket, huddling in a corner.

Opening the door and closing it right after she walked to the human child and stood behind her.

'Her senses are quite weak…' Her thoughts trailed off as the aroma of a living and fresh human caused her to stagger back while every instinct told her to leap at the child and tear it apart.

She walked back to the child and crouched holding a hand out to the child.

The child turned and nearly leapt out of her own skin when she saw a lady appear behind her quietly.

The child looked at her eyes and saw pitch black eyes with silver pupils staring back.
