Launching Into The Fray

Beep beep… Beep beep...

Tyler jumped up from her sleep with a startle as her electronic device, which was on her night stand beeped to get her attention. Quickly rising out of bed, she picked up the watch and accepted the notification, which projected a holographic screen with the information before her.

A pirate transport ship was asking for permission to pass through the 'colony's space.'

They were being attacked by two mech from another colony and they were requesting safe passage through Solaris space.

Aboard were a fighter pilot, a medical doctor and his wife who had just come from an orbital supply space station which was located in the old zone.

They have been trying to communicate with the two mech's that were pursuing them but were not getting any response. They may have switched off their communicators.

Permission was granted but there was a chance that they may not make it to Solaris space and they would probably be destroyed before then.

Tyler put on her watch and quickly dressed for a mission. Sending a message to the mech hanger, she wanted a quick attachment of a mech rocket harness to her suit in order to close the distance.

When she was finished dressing, she rushed down to the hangar of the space station.

When she arrived, they had almost finished placing the attachments to her mech suit and were awaiting her next orders. The attachment incorporated two large tanks, situated at either side of her suit, to give her the extra propulsion needed.

Suddenly a voice came over the P.A system as she was entering her mech.

"Captain Tyler. You are not given clearance to leave the hangar, until your team arrives. They have currently been notified about the situation and they are on their way."

They are on the planet. Who knows when they will get here! By then, that ship would be destroyed, she continued. She looked at the hangar engineer who was holding a system controls tablet. Open the hangar bay doors, she said in a stern tone.

Quickly adhering to her instruction, the engineer opened the doors and removed the force field section to the space station hangar.

Tyler quickly exited the hanger and pushed all power to her mech's thrusters to gain some distance from the space station.

After gaining some distance, she switched to the external tanks, pushing forward on the throttle, setting the thrusters to 100% power. The tanks fired up and then the explosive reaction from the external tanks pushed her mech forward as she was pushed back in her seat.

Zoosh...

Space passed at the side of her quickly as she moved towards the edge of their borders.

The last thing that she heard was "Captain! Captain!" before she switched off her communicator.
