Chapter 143: [Operation Spearhead V (Checkpoint)]

[Checkpoint]

Having the courage to confront Kanzaki, Yuti then bravely stepped up her game as she walked closer to him and begun a conversation between them.

"That... I don't know... but i do know that i wanted to talk to you..." said Yuti

"You don't know why you are approaching me? That's a first" replied Kanzaki

"Well... uhh... i have the urge to talk to you, Like for some reason...like we've known each other... but don't mistake me... that's just how i feel" said Yuti

"Is this how you always talk? It's like your words are a broken pieces of a puzzle... plus i haven't even met you in the past, so how come you can say that we've known each other?" asks Kanzaki

"AH! Your mistaken! its just that.... you're quite famous in the rookie's circle in the sub-headquarters... thus when rumors about you spread all around, i couldn't help but feel like we are acquainted" explained Yuti

Hearing her explanation, Kanzaki immediately concluded that Yuti might be one of those types of people who had gotten to know him through words and rumors of his reputation. If what she said is true, then perhaps what Richard said of him being famous in the rookie circle of the organization must be also true.

Nevertheless the rumors about him and all of his few exploits are not false. After all for someone who is also a rookie who haven't even lasted for one year yet in the organization, having few successful highly dangerous missions, It is already given that he will be noticed sooner or later.

However despite having such fame within the rookie circle, Kanzaki himself was well aware that his exploits aren't that much in comparison towards the veteran members, who had survived countless harsh missions. Its like his fame circulates alone in the youngster block, and not much on the society as a whole.

One considerable example is that even though he is currently talked in the organization, Ryuuji and Jinwoo's fame and reputation is more highly regarded than his own.

With a deep sigh, Kanzaki then replied.

"You don't have to exaggerate it, I'm not that famous"

"No! Your wrong! your currently the talk of the organization" insisted Yuti

"Yes! currently... but not for long, as long as there is another person who have a higher recognition than me, then my name could be easily forgotten... fame is just temporary" said Kanzaki as he stated his thoughts

"... I... I understand" said Yuti

"Great! so what do you want to talk to me again?"

"Ah! Its about my weapon..." said Yuti

"The bow? what's wrong with your bow?" asks Kanzaki

"... Umm... Is it true that you can get stronger if you have a specially customized weapon in hand rather than the mass produced weapons of the organization?"

Hearing her question, Kanzaki then answered.

"Well yeah... after all with a customized weapon, you can personally adjust your weapon to be well suited for you in combat... well I'm not saying that using the organization's mass produced weapons will downgrade your performance, but having a customized weapon made for you is even better in terms of compatibility"

"Then is your weapon a mass produced or a customized one?" asks Yuti after glancing at the black sword

"It's a customized one" answered Kanzaki

"A customized? Wow!!! is it that easy to make a customized one?" asks Yuti

"I cant really say that... but... I think you need special materials to even forge one" said Kanzaki

" Special materials? Like a core metal?" asks Yuti

"Maybe... Like for example my sword here is forged from a crystal heart of a chaos beast or monster in a shape of a dragon... by using its core, this sword was then made to have a really high durability and compatible to any type of fire" said Kanzaki

"Core of a chaos beast? Like its heart? does that mean that i can make my own customized weapon if i provided a core metal to the weapon development department?" asks Yuti

"Yeah... but you need to be choosy too, after all the better the quality of the core the better is the weapon... so how can you define if a core is of a high quality?" asks Kanzaki as he turned his gaze towards Yuti

"How do i know?... maybe by checking the core's density, mana output, texture, and durability?" asks Yuti as she gave out some unsure answers

"Well your right! but that type of quality checking only applies to the time before the apocalypse, this time however, in order to know whether the quality is good or not, you need to find out whether the chaos beast wielding such core is a powerful monster or not... remember the more the powerful the monster is, the more of a higher quality that monster has" explained Kanzaki

"I see..."

With that Yuti took out her notebook from her pocket as she wrote down all of what Kanzaki had said. Upon seeing her writing everything down, as if this knowledge was something new to her, Kanzaki then started to asked.

"Are you planning to make your own customized weapon?"

"Umm... yes!" answered Yuti

"I see... then go for it!" encouraged Kanzaki

As he said those words, Yuti then closed her notebook before looking out to the horizon in front of her before asking a particular question toward Kanzaki.

"I've gotta ask...aren't you afraid that maybe... one day... in some of your missions you could die?"

Hearing her question, Kanzaki then turned his head to her direction as he showed a contemplating expression before answering her.

"Well... i am afraid... I mean who doesn't fear death? some people may claim that they are not afraid to die, but internally they are afraid of death because they know that it will be the end of them... I mean isn't that's the reason why we are fighting to survive, so that we wont die a meaningless death?" answered Kanzaki

"..."

"Why do you think i joined the organization? fame? money? reputation? recognition?.... I didn't aim for any of that at all... I have an ability to see the future... and mostly the future which it shows me are people dying over a meaningless death... seeing people dying would naturally cause a trauma in my brain... at most those deaths haunted me at night when i go to sleep... i cant control my foresight, and since i cant control it i decided to confront it"

"That's how I've gotten over my fear of death"
