The screens flicked to life, lighting up the dark room as the room revealed the plain furniture in the room. Nearly lost to time as he watched the lights switch on carefully, still rather unsure of it's existence after yesterday's events.
The dully lit room was rather dusty, the knocks from the earlier impact had clearly hurt the building's structural integrity. In the middle sat a long simple wooden desk and a chair, a miracle in it's preservation considering it is a century old despite it's lack of cleanliness at the moment. In the middle sat a large thin screen which light up amazingly, glowing in his eyes as they filled the room with a white haze, adjusting down only due to the dark scenery . A marvel of technological advancement. Behind the colourful wires, several large monitors surround the screen. Showcasing the most important people who had arrived hastily despite their consideration to being prim and proper.
They were clearly uncomfortable, rather stuffy with big eye bags and red eyes. Working day and night over a ridiculous event just a day before with their raspy voices and light mumbles. It is already a miracle that they even have electricity with their own countries in shambles and their people suffering from the impacts earlier.
"Alright is everyone here?"
He asks everyone as they kept silent, observing the countries who are participating in the chat. Albeit they all made hidden glances of hostility after a large war that nearly destroyed their economy.
"Alright, it's about time we talk about the biggest issue at hand. We had found an alien specimen. It had crash landed in our region but we need your opinion. After all, it's 'parents' may be arriving soon."
He said his statement out loud as he hears loud discussions and rather tense glances. Something he had seen for a long time. He could only be glad however that it wasn't the glance of death immediately after the war.
"Firstly, why should we trust you? Your heroes had already ruined our country to the core!" The president of India, bald and slim. He rubs his long beard, rather proud of it compared to the governor speaking to everyone. Filled with disdain as he clasped his hands, grunting as he stared at the camera, adjusting the long, thick white robes he had. Supposedly trying to showcase his legitimacy and his honesty. However, Guy knew how everything goes here. In an era of distrust, it is a wonder that the talks are truly legitimate in this virtual, cold hall.
"Let's not forget to mention what your 'famous' country had done!"
The prime minister of Japan looked at him in rather choppy English. His sleek grey hair fluttering in the background in his simple attire. Despite his poor language and his calming exterior. Everyone could already sense his anger. His people's anger over what had happened before the war. Their sense of patriotism completely dominating the room with his loud grunt.
"About a decade ago, you had stolen our designs, claiming that it is yours when it is in our soil! Literally forcing us to hand it to you. And then you had scientists create 'super humans' and robots of our design to kill. And then behind our noses, you created two giant super weapons that had destroyed a city as a result? Sorry if I'm getting out of topic, but how am I supposed to trust your legitimacy even with legislation changes?"
The men and women bickered as a man slams a small wooden hammer in the virtual room. Echoing through Guy's ears as it' knocks drowned out everyone.
"Order."
Guy looks at the monitor to see the bored Alfred rather stoned. Bored knowing he had just been knocked into this position of United Union Judge. Even though the position was well known to be prestigious. Meant to put countries to task and allow them to cooperate for peace when it was introduced recently. But the position is secretly made to force the person the become a puppet for the higher-ups. He probably knows it. But even he doesn't know who the 'higher-ups' were. Still, as Guy looks at his face, he finds satisfaction in seeing that man be controlled for once. "This silly man, always full of himself." He thought to himself, looking away, secretly smug about his downfall as he sips some water.
"Ok can we get back to the big elephant in the room? An alien had dropped to earth and may lead to it's parents to 'visit' ", he makes a gesture, hoping that they would understand what he is truly saying as he continued, "I know this since we managed to survive yesterday's attack. If we make it, they must had also made it as well. We simply cannot afford to scare our people any further. They had been suffering after all."
The group of people mumbled about, whispering to their advisers standing close, hiding away from the camera by before coming back to him.
"How about we leave it be? It won't cause us any problems?"
The president of Sweden asked, adjusting it's glasses as he looks at the screen, rather determined for a peaceful settlement despite knowing the atrocities made by the country in question. His posture in a rigid stance showcasing everyone's mood.
"But if we leave it be and it dies? How would we explain it to them?" The prime minister of the France, a young lad who Guy feels may lack experience responds, rather frantic about the president's possible rash action. Before the group of men and women went into a frenzy, the US president, an old, dark skinned man who had been silent all along finally speaks, possibly moody that he is woken up earlier than usual as his swollen eyes struggled to stay awake with his thick dark circles that pleaded for this to end.
"How about we investigate the being first. Ensure it's well being as well before they arrive."
"Agreed," The Prime Minister of Italy agreeing as more and more Presidents and Prime Ministers come to the same conclusion.
"Well then, this issue is settled. The meeting is adjourned." Alfred, who is extremely tired at the moment, hastily closes the chat group amid his boredom of hearing the other leaders bicker about themselves on the point of this meeting. They after all have other important matters they need to stress. But it was no matter to Guy. He stretches his hands, glad he still somewhat has an advantage as he heads out.
"Plan A is a go," he orders his men as they rush off downstairs. He looks at his watch with glee, seeing the perfect movement in place. Just like what he wanted. He was now a step ahead. Some of the men and women earlier may had already known. But he knows he shouldn't care. They couldn't touch them despite their attempts. These technologies now can help his country after all of the chaos.
Meanwhile Upstairs
Leroy looks out of the large panoramic window, rather concerned about her plight as the sun set on another day.
"What is she going to do next?"
He looked at the broken scenery. Lost. To make matters worse, their treatment haven't been kind. They had not been given anything that can benefit their social life nor their work life. There was literally nothing in the large room. Just a punching bag, a table and chairs along with a single kettle amongst a quaint small kitchen. The isolated bedrooms was no better. Just rock solid beds that felt like a cold metal plate with puffy sheets. All of the rooms came with a small lamp that was pathetic at the best, barely lighting up and illuminating the room. The only plus side was the view but it was a completely dull landscape. Full of dust and smoke from the continuous riots and the collapse of buildings left and right. Nothing but emotions falling apart in this desolate wasteland.
He observes the poor people, all sleeping on the streets as they hid from the view of officers who imposed a rigid rule. Sleeping in public places was banned. He knows it was meant to eradicate the poverty in the Sector that had increased just after the war. But it's implementation was just intensifying the problem with the solution not even good enough to do it's job. Barely helping people scrape by as attempt to move on with their lives even though the amount of poverty in the few years has improved. He shook his head. Only praying that she doesn't act rash like her counterpart earlier.
He looks at Maximilian who punched the bag harder. He was clearly angry at the injustice after all that they had just pulled. All of those saving for nothing. Leroy however knows the angry puncher is rather annoyed for another reason, specifically how Ken can leave so freely. A literal joker. He shook his head, knowing that it would take some time just to let go of his thoughts. He turns around, sensing his presence as the man in the bright blue suit staring at them in the dark, his appearance simply making his day even worse.
The little bright blue crap.
"Alright. It is about time. We got work to do."
