He slowly wandered back. Each step more tiring than the rest as he looks at his shirt, now completely soaked with his sweat. Ever since the nasty destruction that filled the place. His place had mostly became inhabitable. The people now asked to grab whatever belongings they had. But his sudden pull into chaos had made him a tired.
"Goddamit Caze..."
He slowly wanders through the remaining greenery that was left. The lush trees now beginning to come onto the road with deers all wondering through the place, minding their own business as he silently walked past. He had no idea how long he had been walking, extremely surprised how he was allowed entry into the dark desolate wasteland with United Union members still scurrying through the wreckage to find bodies. But even then, he fears being dragged back into his situation. He always thought he was the tired one, but as he played with the pebbles in his way, his actions seemed to always have the opposite effect.
He looks at the quiet lamp illuminating the remnants of the scrapyard his father had owned. Lacking any form of vandalism but each step revealed plants beginning to have a chance to grow and nourish. Something he is kinda glad to see. Some green in these trying times.
Through the entrance, he sees the house still intact. The police fixtures had been just like yesterday, removed from the remnants of the house which is in disarray. Filled with burnt planks still filled with charred smoke and shattered glass. He plans to demolish the house, now on the verge of collapse. His parents would most likely agree as well. As he looks around, he still wonders if his belongs are still around Sector B after his tense escape. But even he doesn't have much hope from what he knew remained.
He looks ahead. Thankful he had enough cash spare in the shed to tow back his Lotus, he still hasn't known what that being had done his car. But it is at least in safe hands once again. Noting the dried stains from his appearance as he feels irked, noting how it was now supposed to be his bed. He looks at his ride, shaking his head knowing that stupid piece of liquid had melted his main keys for his benefit. Rude.
He takes out a pair of keys he had hiding in a secret compartment by the drain, meant if he forgot the keys, but he never knew it would come into handy. He smirked a little, only being bothered by the situation he was dragged into. But now freed from his shackles, he cranks open the door, relaxed that his imprisonment is now over. Though he fears the men at Sector C thinks he is a part of them. His body jittered in fright at the thought, somehow still feeling worried for his 'colleagues' then as he open the doors to his shack. A wooden floor with his workbench, still filled with his rusty tools in it's original position when he left the shed.
He sighed, shaking his head and preparing to file his stuff when he feels the heat of a man gruff, startling him to see 2 men and 2 girls he knew he had seen earlier in similar clothing, a white shirt with trousers and a large jacket that were different in color for each person. All in varying gradients of browns.
"Crap since when did his characters come to life?!?" He hastily grabs a wrench which he nearly dropped. Raising it to their level and falling back to a locked door. He looks carefully. Seeing Dwayne and Shelly moving slowly to him. He stood frozen, nearly feeling the urge to show his feelings with his sudden need for a expedition to a toilet cubical. Cowering in fear and closing his eyes.
"Look we are not here to kill you you know?" He slowly opened his eyes, seeing Dwayne opening his hands warmly to him in the voice Derek had remembered. He continued, "We just need some directions..."
Derek stammered, carefully brought back onto his feet with his sticky as he shivered at the sight of four people he thought were erased from existence.
"How are you even... alive?..."
He looked at them fearful as Shelly slouched by the door like a punk, toying with a pink bubble gum. Easing and melting in her mouth as she rolled her eyes like a brat, "We managed to survive on just one chip. We are actually kinda dead now. But we share the pain. Sort off from the transformation?" She began to pinch her skin as he hears a yelp outside from what he knew was Zoe.
"Come on can we not try to find ways to 'kill' each other?" She peered through the door and looked at her, crossing her arms as she grumpily looked at her friend, but Derek knew judging from her tone that she is somewhat sarcastic about the issue.
"As you can see, some of the data had been corrupted, so we are all wearing the same outfit," Zane look at his outfit, raising his eyebrows with a lack of surprise, shaking his head as he stood by the door relaxed, he continued, "Due to such effects, we don't really own such bodies anymore." He gives them the nod as they assimilated into a tall brown skinned female, several meters higher than her with a muscular male profile, a doll-like physique and features that seemed like she was about to participate in a beauty pageant.
Her hair seemed like it was thrown into a wind tunnel whilst wearing large boots and the usual white shirt and trouser that made the being look like an American Cowgirl transported centuries into the future in European soil.
"This is how we look like now." the 'Frankenstein' spoke in tomboyish voice as if in dismay. Not necessarily sad but not happy to be somehow brought to life in this form after what they thought was their death.
"We hope we can get along, shall we?" As Derek look, he can sense Zane and Dwayne wondering how it was like to be a female, but even he feels weird seeing the being speak like this while the being's hands moved.
"Umm... ok..." Derek stood speechless from what he is seeing, slowly mumbling into cohesion as he continued, "what... am... I... supposed to... call you in... this... form..."
The being looked at itself as it smiled, "Bryony."
He gulped as he nods nervously, acknowledging it's gender. The being looked at him, looking back at her the past that led to this and their existence.
"Back to the main topic, where is this man... umm... Leroy? That guy who owns a warehouse and supposedly went out with some guy in an SUV with his friends..."
"Are you referring to some lanky guy in a buttoned-up shirt with messy hair and glasses?" He looks at her uncertainly as his frightened smile became a fearful frown.
"Yes."
He looked at her. His emotions falling as she gave a determined response.
"Why must I have to return again?!?" He mind screamed. Falling apart at the thought of becoming a worker of The Light of Men and their shady antics... He gulped, giving out a response, hoping to move his problems away, "The last thing I know is that he is in Sector C, but I don't know anything else..."
He stammered. Looking at the lady frightfully, knowing he is smiling freakishly but still hopeful that they had got the message.
"Oh ok... I'm sorry to bother you..." He takes a huge gulp of air, releasing the stress that is nearly urging him to go to a toilet which lacks electricity.
He quickly looks away, quickly filing the remaining items on the table only he hears a loud shout from what felt like Baku.
"What now?"
He stammered out to see Atsuki and Baku outside. Her Fiero rattling about as it's headlamps shone at the lady.
"Oh come on!!!"
He whimpered, carefully making his way out, not to be seen, but even he is not good at sneaking.
"Oi! Care to explain yourself?" He looks at Atsuki levitate above the ground, trying to showcase her dominance despite her injuries, though now she isn't posing as if she is the king of her group. Something that he was glad to see. But even then, their presence is making him sick.
"Ooo... didn't know you really wanted the ham when you decided to come onboard?" Baku looked at him and the slimy creature, acknowledging his 'needs' as she looks at him with 'curiosity'. She continued, filled with a feeling of terror that he knows off too well, "Wow, now you are getting thirsty for mor-"
"That is not what I mean...!" He panicked, frantic about their misunderstanding as Bryony looked at him with concern, her hands now forming a hammer as they looked at her surprised.
"Do you need help sir?" She ask as he sees the man she had just ask begin to foam. His face pale and sucked dry from the intense questioning.
He stumbled, looking at the group as he fall down, blinded with his puke dripping onto the rough terrain of his father's creation.
"I... hate... my... life..."
He fall unconscious, dazed with his eyes fluttering from tiredness and madness. He looks up, seeing the trio looking at him and staring at each other. All of whom rather apologetic from their intense questioning.
"Dammit Baku... you went too far you know?" He hears a softening Atsuki, still struggling to talk properly as she peered at Baku who cheekily blushed at her friend, silently looking at the slimy creature as he falls into his dark entombment of sleep. His hiding spot far from his messy life.
