Chapter 6: Types of Blades

The teacher walked into the room and saw all of his students talking to each other.

"Okay students, settle down we have a big day ahead of us," the teacher said as all the students noticed and sat down in seats.

"Good morning students and welcome to spiritual studies, this class is not what you expect it to be, considering you saw this classes name. In this class we don't crack open any textbooks and we do homework like any other classroom. No, you are here to learn how to fight spirits with your own blade. When you are out there and encounter that all powerful spirit you would need to learn how to fight it, and that is what I am here for.

There is one thing you all must remember, spirits don't play fair. They are angry and they are there to make sure you are dead. Now, I want you all to split into two teams. One team with people who have their blades already and the ones who don't." The teacher instructed his class. The whole class then got up and moved in position. All blades that had a blade stood on the right side while the ones who didn't stood on the left.

Owen and Emily stood next to each other while that guy in the back with huge muscles went to the right side of the room. When everyone was done getting situated, a second teacher came into the classroom.

"This is Professor Cole," the first teacher said gesturing at the second. "He will take care of the blades that don't have their blades until they are ready to get into my class. My name is Mr. Soar. Before anyone asks, yes, I am a leaf blade. Just like my comrade Cole here. Judging by the fact that I have a second name, you probably made the assumption that I was once, and if you did I would say congratulations." Mr. Soar then started clapping as the whole room turned silent. Everyone was just staring at him.

"What? What is it?" Mr. Soar said. Professor Cole then turned to him and whispered, "Sir, I think your intro was a little flashy for some kids in the class..."

"WHAT THE HELL?! A LITTLE FLASHY?! THAT WASN'T FLASHY AT ALL!!," Mr. Soar said yelling at Professor Cole.

"Of course it was, no one cares if you used to be a fire blade. They are just waiting to be taken into class."

"Well I was gonna tell them that it is okay to find..." they both trailed off in their argument and half of the students weren't even paying attention after a while. Owen, however, was paying attention, not to what they were saying, but how they looked. Mr. Soar looked more like a drill sergeant, while Professor Cole just looked really lazy.

"Can you believe this, these are our teachers?" Emily said as she shook her head in disappointment. Owen then looked at her and asked, " fire blades usually have two names?"

"Oh, yea. That's why Cole goes by professor and not mister. But just because you have two names, doesn't really make you a fire blade though. You would need to do that yourself," Emily replied.

When both teachers finally stopped arguing with each other, they looked at the clock to see what time it was. It was five minutes until they dismissed the students for their next class.

"Damn it, I wanted to get through so much today," Mr. Soar said with a depressing tone.

"Maybe you shouldn't have fought for this long, sir," Professor Cole replied.

"Excuse me 'sir'. I wasn't the one that started it!" Mr. Soar said in an angry tone.

"I didn't 'start' anything. You did that yourself, sir. Are you going to dismiss these kids so they could go to their next class and not hear you complain about your stupid intro," said Professor Cole sarcastically.

"Ah, so we are still on my damn intro, huh? Would you like to take this outside!" Mr. Soar shouted.

Mr. Soar got as red as a tomato. He was so red with anger and fiery. A lot of kids around the room just laughed. Then a few kids started chanting "fight, fight, fight, fight" over and over again until the whole room was flooded with the sound of the students chanting the word. Then, all of a sudden, the door swung open and in the doorway stood a lady with curly blond hair and wearing what looked to be business attire. She didn't say a word. She just motioned to both the teachers. They then stepped out in the hallway. The woman then slowly shut the door behind the teachers as they left.

The woman then stood in the middle of the classroom. Then she spoke, "so sorry for that children. They do this every year, you think they would have learned by now."

She had a welcoming smile on her face and a kind, gentle tone in her voice as she spoke.

"Well, greetings future blades, my name is Mrs. Mars, and I am the principal of this wonderful school. I'm sorry we had to meet here like this. You all seem like really nice people and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you," she said with a smile. "Oh! And your are all free to go. Don't forget to pick up a slip in the front of the classroom for which classroom you go to tomorrow."

The bell then rang and each student either took a slip from the right or a slip from the left and went to their next class. The last to pick up a slip was Owen. As he picked up the slip, he looked back.

The principal then looked at him and smiled.
